I'm a year late, but was thrilled to see my local comic shop (Comic Universe) made the list. The store has been around nearly 45 years and John does a really great job with the place, both with inventory and with keeping the shop's legacy alive for those of us who grew up going in there.

So awesome to see that two Delaware stores made the list. If you want a new store in the tri-state area try a newer place called Comics Corner that's in Middletown PA. Guy who runs it has the biggest back issue section around that is always growing.

Great content! I live in the area and agree with 9 of your 10 selections. May I suggest the following - Joker’s Child in Fair Lawn, NJ. Conquest Comics in Bayville, NJ, and The Comic Store in Lancaster, PA are all great stores with a huge selection of back issues at fair prices. Conquest has the best raw modern wall book and back issue box selection in the area. The drive is worth it.

James, thanks for your enthusiasm here! Comics are about joy: the joy of reading them, collecting them, hunting them, speculating with them, the sense of community with fellow collectors or whatever makes us happy. This video is about that joy.
Here in the Netherlands we do not have many comic shops, but I do want to give a mighty shout-out to CIA comics import in Amsterdam. A huge collection of comics, current and back issues, good pricing and an owner who lives and breathes comics. Gotta love his dog as well. It's all a bit chaotic - he has no total overview of all the comics he owns - but that adds to the charm.
If you're visiting the Netherlands, go to this store. You'll love it.

This is great because all theses shops are between an hour and a half to 2 hours from me. You should check out Fat Moose Comics in Whippany, NJ. Great customer service (one of the nicest guys I’ve ever talked to in a comic shop), not too deep a selection on back issues but incredibly fair on his pricing. Plus they have a stamp program where every $100 spent gets you $10 credit

If you're ever in the Minneapolis area, I recommend Comic Book College in Roseville. They were in Minneapolis for decades, but one tenant made them move for a new development and the next tenant just all of a sudden gave them a one month notice. Dan Jurgens is (I believe) a regular, as I've seen in him there a number of times. Very friendly staff, great prices, and great selections.

Won't be able to get out to USA for 4-5 years currently, but fully intend to use long service leave so I can spend a good 2-3 months over there and do the occasional comic book store visit on the way through :)

I find haggling depends on what kind of store it is.
Many stores are not setup to deal with haggling. If it’s run like a typical retailer, they can not and will not haggle. If it’s run by the owner or has a manager that has the power to haggle, then they will likely negotiate.

There only three comic book stores that I have been too in Austin, Texas. Austin Books and Comics has over 25 Short Boxes of $20 and up books. Over 50,000 under $20 comics. They employees are very knowledgeable and always eager to help. Another store I go to is called Bat City Comics. They have a small selection of books but are very kind and eager to help. I have only gone twice but every time I go they have better and better comics. The last place I go is called Titan Moon Comics for the great staff. I go there to play Dungeons and Dragons and Magic The Gathering. I know most of the staff and have gotten to know the owner pretty well. They have an okay amount of back isuex , but the best part is playing the table top games. The final store I go to is Discount Comic Book Service. I don't persay go to them but I order my monthly comics from them. I get 40% off of all comics and sometimes 50% off. And what is really awesome.e is that the hard covers are always %50 off.

Love hearing about good LCS’!! Unfortunately, I have yet to find a decent one relatively close to me, let alone a good one, closest one is 2 hours away, been there 3 or 4 times, each time has been a disappointment (high prices, rude employees, wall books are kept up near the ceiling so you cant view them and asking to get one down resorts in eye rolls and sighs, and a severe lack of back issues) they have 3 locations in the same city and I have been to 2, both shared the same experience. The 3rd one is closer to 3 hours away but I will give em a shot, but im not holding my breath lol.

High prices and rude employees is a major turn off - I have more than a few comic shops I don't ever need to go in again

    • @CallenLowe

@@MintHunterComics It's like little nuances of rude too, like one of the locations keeps some back issues in like a dresser drawer style cabinet, so when you open it or closes it, a noise is made. Every time the noise was made when opening or closing a new drawer to look through, the worker would stare at me like I was being so loud and he watches you the whole time you are in a drawer. It was very awkward, and the whole place was dead silent (with like 5 or 6 other people in the store) because that is the type of atmosphere the owner wanted I guess, I don't know. But no questions, no discussions about new books, about spec, about anything really. Just not my scene I guess, the environment was very "get what you are getting and go"

I couldn't agree more with Brave New World in williow Grove. There wall books are legit. Check out Wade's Comic Madness in Levittown they give 5 percent off when you pay cash. It's not much but every little bit helps Also its a bit of a drive. Ontario comics. It's where they filmed Unbeakable and Glass.
