That coal-fire was the reason there were even any survivors at all... Because of the fire, 600 tons of coal had to be moved from one side of the ship to the other, effectively shifting a full 1200 tons of weight. This caused the ship to have a slight tilt (which was something many survivors recalled noticing during the voyage). When Titanic later flooded with water the ship evened out and tilted something like 7-10 degrees in the other direction. Had it not been for that counter weight the Titanic would have CAPSIZED completely within 1 hour, which matched very well the calculations made by the crew members (the architect I believe). Instead it stayed afloat and upright for 2 hours and 40 minutes, saving more than 700 people. Had it not been for that fire, the ship would've fallen over well before the first lifeboat could even have been launched, most likely killing everyone onboard.
Spammals You have to use the Note 7, you must get the TARDIS and go to a military, steal a note 7, then throw it into the funnel. It should blow up and the spagetti monster shall rise, and steal you that lifeboat pass from Adventure out of Time, then throw you on a lifeboat and the titanic shall seizure into the planet or Uranus. There. Game done.
It's another theory that seems very selective in its use of evidence, like how the "inferior steel" theory ignores that Olympic was made of the same stuff and functioned perfectly well for 24 years (sinking a U-boat in that time!)
Great breakdown! There's also the interesting point that the fire actually saved lives, in the fact that burning coal was redirected to the other side of the ship. And the weight of the coal helped stop the ship capsizing. Senan Molony seems pretty cool, not sure what happened with the documentary but he's done some great work in his books about the Californian and the Mount Temple that I've read. Also, a switch theory debunked video might be a pretty good idea ;)
Thanks Mr Random! And honestly I fully intended to include Park Stephensons report about the fire and how it saved lives but concious of the time running out i utterly completely forgot to include it. I was going reference it as the closing comment lol
As always another great video! Will you make one about the switch theory? (A lot of people already know it's fake and idiotic, but there a still way too many people that believe it.) There are tons of videos saying it's true, but I've never seen one debunking it.
(I know this comment is late, but I'm new so... ya) The fact that people believe this documentary fills me with so much pure fucking rage toward those who made it. Thank you for making a video about this. Love your videos a bunch!
I was looking for this for a long time because I believe the last time I watched this it only had 15k views or something, I don’t know point is i found it and I’m happy.
I actually think that when the water came into boiler room 5, as Fred Barrett described, it was because there was water in the very starboard coal bunker, and the coal bunkers were not designed to be watertight, so the pressure buckled the wall of the coal bunker, allowing water to flow into boiler room 5. At least that's my theory, i'm not an expert.
As for "why did she not divert," she DID. Captain Smith ordered the Titanic into a slightly more southern route than she was already going after a few ice warnings.
YES! I love this video so much! I was raging so much about that stupid documentary! and that bit about "For 2 hours the titanic looked like it would stay afloat well into the next day" I lost my mind. I was like "Are you kidding me, narrator!? I thought you said he researched the titanic for 30 years, it sounds like he's never read a single thing about it in his life!
my friends keep asking the same thing, "do you know how the Titanic sank?" and I say "yes it hit an iceberg, flooded with water, broke in half, and sank" but then they say "acually there was a fire on the inside and" and then I stop them there and prove them wrong and they still don't beleve me so next time I will show them this video. thx by the way
Yeah. Even if that was true, then the tragedy would still be the same. So what does it matter if they were swapped? If it was known as the Titanic, and it sank with great loss of life, then the Titanic is the real tragedy.
forget about the fact that you know that it hit a iceberg that can even breach modern day ship hulls. It was just a cover up to hide a fire that you know would be noticed.
Just imagine - a ship that has a giant fire that doesn’t burn through the hull sinks the biggest ship of her time but when she hits an iceberg that rips through her hull, *_then_* she sinks, after the fire is put out..
Spammals, please do a video proving that Titanic WAS indeed Titanic. I have seen far too many comments on other Titanic videos by people who are convinced that the Titanic was actually the Olympic. Please do a video proving this wrong so I can suggest it to them.
But seriously I’m subscribing. Honestly when he said it would stay afloat well into the next day he was probably thinking”it took 2 hours for the bow to go under, maybe it would take several more hours for it to completely go down... BY JOVE I THINK I’M RIGHT! Phillip, start back on my overly dramatic documentary!”
I believe Ismay didn't try to urge the captain to increase speed. The Titanic was identical (as good as) to her sister ship the Olympic, which had been in service for a year prior to the Titanic. The Titanic was on the longest designated route (as confirmed by Captain Rostron at the hearing) so could not break any Atlantic Crossing records for that reason. Both the Titanic and the Olympic where not built for speed or to compete for the Blue Ribbon. The Blue Ribbon was held by the Mauretania and held this from 1909 to 1929 - the longest time any Ocean Liner has held the Blue Ribbon till this day (the Olympic only came into service in 1911). The Mauretania had a top speed of 24 knots the Titanic and the Olympic could only achieve 21 knots. Olympic was more famous than the Titanic before she sank. The Titanic, was just another ship added the fleet, she did not have anything to prove as her sister ship The Olympic would of already achieved it if that was the case. .
i know the exact theory how the titanic sank: the ship hit an iceberg, then slowly lists to port about 90 degrees list to port, then the bow submerged, then the stern comes up, then after that the electricity went out, then theres a maximum peak stress and the ship didnt handle the pressure then boom, splits in half like the banana theory that james cameron loves, the bow hangs on the double bottom, the stern looked like it was gonna be afloat longer and could be used as lifeboat, then the bow pulls the stern down, finally.... double bottom lets go, the bow falls like a torpedo going around 20 knots, the same speed when the ship hit the iceberg, then the stern goes down almost going vertical, then final plunge the whole ship is underwater, the stern implodes and the stern breaks apart then double bottom frisbeeing off, then the spiraling happens, the bow falling in a stable position, lands on the bottom of the north atlantic, embedding the front part 62 feet, the hull creases, and the back end collapses, then the stern impacted the seabed sooo hard that it made it collapse and look super messy, then the debris falling down above it..... then in 1985, robert ballard discovered the bow section, when he travelled across the ship, he found that the stern was missing, now he knows that the titanic split in half, then cameron travelled to the bottom to dive the titanic, then in 1997 he made a movie about it, then they found the stern, sitting 600 meters from the bow, facing the opposite direction.... thats my theory, aka the real deal theory
Another thing I noticed you missed out is the so called fire mark starts in the forward bunker, the single bunker forward of boiler room six, then later in the doc they suddenly decide it was aft of that bunker and between boiler rooms 5 and 6 and they say spreads into the adjoining bunker,so the fire according to the doc shifts from the forward bunker to the bunkers behind,it's all shite
tacos mexicanstyle see I too remember a memory that they did take an extra southerly route as a result of ice, but when I was putting this video together I couldn't find a source to back my memory, so decided not to mention it as I didn't want to put potentially wrong information out as fact. Nice to see I'm not alone in these thoughts :D
Spammals well, I'm glad that you're sticking to the absolute facts in any case! Makes your videos watchable in lieu of actual trust-able sources in the depths of RUclips. I get triggered every time someone mentions the switch theory...
I do completely agree with everything you said, but I do subscribe to the idea that the pressure on the coal bunker in boiler room five was the wave that Barrett saw (and I also subscribe to the grounding theory), because in follow up questions during the inquiry, he does say he believes it was coming from that way, and not spilling over the bulkhead, though that's explainable because, as they sort of-ish say in the documentary, the bunker was breached by the burg, and not that the bulkhead broke between the two coal bunkers, causing the pressure to become too immense, and then break the door to the bunker down.
What I don't understand is that if the black mark really was the reason that the Titanic sank, surely you wouldn't have seen it on the ship because it would be under the level of the water, am I right?
Tom Lawson Absolutely, the fire was deep on the bunkers, and that black spot is basically artificial of the photograph that is cause by weird light effect on that area of the hull. Olympic has a plenty of photos where she has a strange light spot and it is commonly under the well deck
I like how the Titanic: H&G Team mentioned on their podcast Parks Stevenson's theory that the fire may have been Titanic's saving grace. An interesting theory that the team is actually going to put into the final game !
Another thing i discovered from the titanic, is that it never sank, if you look at the wreck and you look at the right nameplate you can see her name but you can also see an M and a P from olyMPic, wich means after olympic's disaster, they had to replace her with the titanic
And also she had already diverted the bergs. As you said, it was a 1 in a million for bergs to be that far south. These are people just as ignorant as those that believe it was the olympic :|
2 reason why the ship sank 1) even though Phillips had already received 13 or so messages, and the Captain had made his adjustments according to those he received by steering the ship some 20 miles south to stay clear of the dangerous area, it was still important for Phillips to deliver the 14th message which came in from the Masaba. the location of that message warned of many large Bergs, and heavy field ice, along with pack ice directly ahead of the Titanic's course. Phillips had no idea how important those coprdinances actually were, and it was not his job to know, but rather just deliver the message and allow the commander to discern them by conferring with his charter that was on duty. Sadly, Philips, according to Lightholler, set the message aside and forgot to deliver it to the bridge among all the confusion in the radio room that night. This was a vital message that should have been delivered, I'm sure Phillis felt terrible bout this mistake later before he died on the collapsible boat 2) Captain Smith retired for the evening shortly before Lightholler's shift ended. The orders were to alert the Captain if conditions changed. Lightholler left this same message with Murdock when he retired for the evening at 10 oclock. Sadly Murdoch did not alert the Captain about the great refraction on the horizon that was impairing vision. This refraction was confirmed by many crew and members on the ship, along with other log books from of other ships passing through. Lord even noticed it. Its my belief that Lighhollers statement "that if the captain was awoke that he would have slowed the ship down and very possibly stopped it altogether for the night. and waited for daylight to proceed"........so in conclusion; Smith thinking he was out of harms way, was unknowingly heading straight into a dangerous ice area.... A true fluke indeed, because they probably could have hit that berg a 100 times at various angels and still not taking out 6 compartments, thus would have remained afloat long enough until a rescue ship came..a real long shot indeed...side note: Philips stayed at his post to the very end> Very honorable. And Murdock must be commended for his excellent steering of the vessel under such immediate and extreme conditions...........
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This is everything I've been wanting to tell the world! This feels like I've been constipated and you've just released the waste from my end.......... erm...... too much? Ok......
If Titanic sunk because of weak steel, shouldn't Olympic have also sunk? These were two very identical ships, so if one of them had weak steel, surely the other one would as well. I think the fact that Olympic lived a full career debunks the theory of "weak steel".
GEWDFERYEW , I made this comment a month ago so let me try to recall what I ment. I believe I made that comment before competing the video and I thought he ment the weak steel because of the fire but the Olympic never had that fire. Is before I got to the part of the video where it talked about the steel on the ships being weak. It was a error on my part.
I think the people from Titanic Honor and glory debunked this doc very well in one of their podcasts... and they have leading experts on the titanic to take advice from...
"Inferious steel" , Yes and No , If we look to it today yes that was inferious steel but they (the ship manufactures in that time) hadn't really understood the effect of the microscopic impurities. Which means that they used an open furnace method to construct the steel leaving the steel full with microscopic impurities, that alone is not really a huge problem but the steel had a Ductile-to-Brittle Transistion Temperature (DBTT) of +20degr which means the that the steel doesn't deform at impact but ruptures. That's why it was so easy for the iceberg to puncture through the hull of the ship because the hull itself couldn't take any impact energy and deform elastically. But in that time they were confident that they used superior steel.
Thanks Colemac, I'd like to do more but it's a difficult thing to keep up with the limited selection of games availible. Titanic will return in April for a full length week :D
my personal opinion that evedence is shit cause its above the water line if the ice berg hits that wont take on water maybe make more evedence fire people 6:49 the boiler rooms are far down than that level of the ship
Titanic is Olympic as Olympic was put for scrap for the metal to give to Titanic but maybe there is a difrent theory that the ships where switched but still LETS BEGIN
My teacher was saying (baby voice) did you know that they found evidence that titanic might have sunk because of fire.My response: That is a lie lady I've been doing Titanic show and tells since grade 1 (that is true) so I know much more about titanic than you so don't question me.
Thanks bud :D And naa I'm much happier being a non expert. For myself I only deem a handful of people to be true experts such as Bill Sauder, that man is Thomas Andrews reborn i swear. Otherwise I see the title expert used way to easily.
I was talking to you in twitter while this happened but in my opinion the Titanic started to sink because of the Ice berg but the fire made it sink faster well faster than expected if there was no fire maybe it would have sunk in 3 hours and 34 minutes
Something i forgot to talk about at the end of the video was how it has been suggested the fires existence created the need to empty the coal bunker which went on to create the port list that would go on to counter the starboard list. Without the fire the ship would have listed to starboard rendering lifeboats unlaunchable which would have cost more lives to be lost. Really wish I had remembered to put it at the end of the video, was under a lot of pressure to get the video edited and online >
hey Spammals whats your personal opinion on the Titanic and Olympic switch theory , I personally think its a fat load of horse shit . we both probably have the same opinion.
@@trolltrama9780 other way, when olympic had a crash, titanic was FAR from done major things they would need to do is: Add the 3 other funnels Paint everything Fit Out
That coal-fire was the reason there were even any survivors at all... Titanic Fire Challenge! Can you burn down the ship before it sinks!

Spammals nope Cause it has Holes in it so fire cant do that
niclas backman They were above water m8.
Phew just in time. Let's begin debunking titanic theories
FIRE!!! :D
Olympic and Titanic being swapped!!! ;)
It's another theory that seems very selective in its use of evidence, like how the "inferior steel" theory ignores that Olympic was made of the same stuff and functioned perfectly well for 24 years (sinking a U-boat in that time!)
You know it's b.s. when the first 10 seconds is the Lusitania instead of the Titanic.

well spammals #notexpert according to honour and glory you are an historian
i agree
The_Soldier_From_ Down_Under He works with Southampton not with Titanic directly
This video is so out of the algorithm that youtube wont even show it.

RMS Titanic 1912-2017 Why don't you still upload?
I'm planning on making a video soon.
RMS Titanic 1912-2017 good
hey im subscribed to you :)
RMS Titanic 1912-2017 hi Titanic Do u love fire and iceberg TITANIC:HELL NO
(I know this comment is late, but I'm new so... ya)
The fact that people believe this documentary fills me with so much pure fucking rage toward those who made it. Thank you for making a video about this. Love your videos a bunch!
The dislikes are the Titanic fans who disagree who hate the documentary.
That black mark was bout 80 ft away from where the real fire was
more than 80ft! they were wrong on *SO* many levels!
all Titanic fans know there was a small fire in the boiler room but it couldn't have sunk her
Tedthetrain productions exactly
but the iceberg hit in there while it was hot so ... and cold destroyed it
Tedthetrain productions #true
No..
The fire weakened the steel so the ice just punctured the Titanic.
Maybe..
Also #notexpert
It made the steel less strong. So a half of the sinking is because of the fire 🔥 and a half of the iceberg
>doc says ismay was a greedy villian
>only makes doc for money
The worst bit was wen he said Olympics steel Was bad after it got pierced by a bloody battlecruiser
bro it was sunk by an ice ebrg even survivors say it
I was looking for this for a long time because I believe the last time I watched this it only had 15k views or something, I don’t know point is i found it and I’m happy.
My parents watched this documentary and think the know more than me lmao
i feel your pain...so...much...
i hope you are dealing with it well over there. it’s very sad to hear about your family’s undeserving stupidity.
I actually think that when the water came into boiler room 5, as Fred Barrett described, it was because there was water in the very starboard coal bunker, and the coal bunkers were not designed to be watertight, so the pressure buckled the wall of the coal bunker, allowing water to flow into boiler room 5. I just tuned into Channel 4, and the documentary was on. I immediately went to watch this video again.
As for "why did she not divert," she DID. Captain Smith ordered the Titanic into a slightly more southern route than she was already going after a few ice warnings.

But spammels what about the other Titanic documentary called "save the titanic"? It talked heavily about the fire onboard as well
I just realized, these photos showing the smudge were taken in Belfas, the fire didn't start until she reached Southampton
Spammals dace at the end had me in tears 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"I think you should do this Bullshit theory about Titanic an Her sister being Swapped."
oh mah gawd...another blowfish .O.
Yeah. Even if that was true, then the tragedy would still be the same. So what does it matter if they were swapped? If it was known as the Titanic, and it sank with great loss of life, then the Titanic is the real tragedy.

Correct me if I am wrong. But, on the 6th of April 1912 the Titanic was loaded with more coal due to the coal strike ending
Great Video Keep making more on Titanic if you can make 3 more i will show you my fav ship
They did divert - quite sure they took a route that was even more southern than the normal southern route? Can't be sure but that's what I remember

Says "im not an expert " immediately starts shiting facts on a tv documentary.
Thank you for talking sense, exactly what I thought when watching this absolute crap of a documentary
Question: "Why didn't they change course?"
Answer: They did adjust their course when informed of the ice field. It wasn't enough.
3:36 I believe that, according to the log books in the Titanic, that the Titanic was actually sailing further south than the southern route.
Velociraptors of Skyrim Because Capt Smith wanted to avoid the icebergs... he order the ship to go farther south...
Look all you have to tell people who believe the titanic sunk by fire is “how could the titanic have sunk by fire if it was surrounded by water?”.
... Wait. This fire theory is an actual thing that gained some traction? I thought it was a badly written fanfic from some guy!
6:45 thet is coal dust from when you load coal on the ship
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! This is everything I've been wanting to tell the world! This feels like I've been constipated and you've just released the waste from my end.......... erm...... too much? Ok......
Eeww >
Spammals it made me cringe a little reading it back, but I'm a 13 year old boy damnit! Toilet humour is still funny! 😉
If Titanic sunk because of weak steel, shouldn't Olympic have also sunk? These were two very identical ships, so if one of them had weak steel, surely the other one would as well. I think the fact that Olympic lived a full career debunks the theory of "weak steel".
Jackson Begley the steel was supposedly weak because of the fire moron
Troll Trama I love how you're acting as if there's any intelligent insight to the Titanic sinking from this bullshit fire theory.
Hi spammels i love you'r vids
This was pretty funny can you make a titanic switch theory
but it was really an olympic fire, it all makes sense
joke joke
something catastrophic happened. Yeah, the ship was kind of in two pieces.

I am laughing
so hard right now
I think the people from Titanic Honor and glory debunked this doc very well in one of their podcasts... and they have leading experts on the titanic to take advice from...
"Inferious steel" , Yes and No , If we look to it today yes that was
inferious steel but they (the ship manufactures in that time) hadn't
really understood the effect of the microscopic impurities. Which means
that they used an open furnace method to construct the steel leaving the
steel full with microscopic impurities, that alone is not really a huge
problem but the steel had a Ductile-to-Brittle Transistion Temperature
(DBTT) of +20degr which means the that the steel doesn't deform at
impact but ruptures. That's why it was so easy for the iceberg to
puncture through the hull of the ship because the hull itself couldn't
take any impact energy and deform elastically. But in that time they
were confident that they used superior steel.
dem dances
Everyone knows it was a combo of COVID-19 and Cthulhu that sunk Titanic. We are through the looking glass here people
The reason why she sailed so fast into fast is because the trip had to make headlines according to ismay
Tony Herriges No, the last boiler room was never lit so it wasn't doing top speed.
Spammals, Which Would You Rather Deal With?

Hello love your titanic videos I think you should do more
Thanks Colemac, I'd like to do more but it's a difficult thing to keep up with the limited selection of games availible. Titanic will return in April for a full length week :D
Spammals great I can't wait for April 😀
She had a fire in the boiler room near the bow, but when she did hit the iceberg it weakened the area where the fire occurred causing it to sink
iiTommyTrouble Lie.
thats the old theory..thats been debunked
iiTommyTrouble did you not hear every single thing he said?!
Believe what you want, that is what I believe. I can't clarify it's true..
Not to be rude, but this is the new theory! XD
Spammals I agree with you 100% I watched that documentary & was laughing at the Bullshit comming from it
Good Job
TITANIC is Not Sunk by
Fire it was Iceberg
my personal opinion that evedence is shit cause its above the water line if the ice berg hits that wont take on water maybe make more evedence fire people 6:49 the boiler rooms are far down than that level of the ship
I agree
Titanic is Olympic as Olympic was put for scrap for the metal to give to Titanic but maybe there is a difrent theory that the ships where switched but still LETS BEGIN
My mum his a friend who was on the titanic and there was no fire
But there was a hole in the ship and when the iceberg hit the doors malfunctioned and they all died the end
Dragonwolf Gamer I think you mean the Britannic since her watertight bulkhead failed to close...
I saw this video that said the iceberg never tore through the hull.....
OMG I was thinking the same thing when I watch the documentary that documentary is so stupid😣
My teacher was saying (baby voice) did you know that they found evidence that titanic might have sunk because of fire.My response: That is a lie lady I've been doing Titanic show and tells since grade 1 (that is true) so I know much more about titanic than you so don't question me.
class vid your channel is growing so much. Not expert I think you should off said I am an expert
Your Right good stuff
they were right it did last until the next day hit the berg 11.40 sunday.. sunk 2.20 am monday lol...
Spammels titanic took 2 hours and 40 minutes
The documentary was so shit I want an hour of my life back
hey Spammals whats your personal opinion on the Titanic and Olympic switch theory , I personally think its a fat load of horse shit . we both probably have the same opinion.
Cmder Fox Olympics construction wasn't even completely yet was it?
@@trolltrama9780 other way, when olympic had a crash, titanic was FAR from done major things they would need to do is:
Add the 3 other funnels
Paint everything
Fit Out
@@anormalcommentor9452 why would they lie about which ship were to sail?
@@trolltrama9780 exactly (i was debunking it too if you can tell??)
