I only eat meat and eggs. I eat twice a day and once or twice a week I'll only eat once a day. I've lost 22kg and have no more fat to lose. I'm 68 years old and doing weights. I'm feeling great. Thanks to you guys for all your input. Thanks Kate. Regards. Harry from Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA.

I've been on ketogenic lifestyle and OMAD IF for two years and lost over 90 lbs, and reversed my insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome completely. I haven't had any grains and starches in two years. 0 grains. My only source of carbohydrates is from cruciferous vegetables. Although cruciferous vegetables do have some carbohydrates, the high fiber in the vegetables mitigates the actions of carbohydrates. It is a great video, especially when you reiterated that carbohydrates are non-essential nutrients. Thank you.

    Yep.
There are essential fatty acids and essential amino acids, but there are no essential carbs. I'm fine eating some, but I do find that for weight management and metabolic health I do better if I keep them to a small fraction of my calories, especially sugar and grains.
As a side bonus, the reflux that became a regular occurrence in my late 30s and early 40s is now exceedingly rare. I presume that's because the more satiating meals (protein/fat) reduce overconsumption

I really enjoy watching the videos on the channel 😊. I also used to love! BREAD! too! much! and years of baking and eating bread really wore out my pancreas and I developed "insulin resistance". Today? I eat mostly vegetables (all grown in my garden), lentil beans, black eyed peas, garbanzo beans (also known as "chick peas"). I grow tons of varieties of beans and no longer consume any animal based products (no dairy, no dead animals, lard, grease, eggs, etc.). It's not for "health reasons", I just simply lost the desire for those types of fats and proteins over the years. I also eat a! lot! of walnuts, pecans, peanuts, almonds, and cashews). Now that we are entering summer months? I will replace all my winter stews and soups with garden salads sprinkled with sunflower seeds kernels and other types of seeds and nuts fir protein. I feel exceptionally healthy. My cholesterol and blood sugar readings are LOW, my blood pressure is excellent and I really enjoy life now (as opposed to when I ate breads all day, everyday and had barely any energy to survive). Love these videos. Great information❤.

I am going on 4 months since I adopted a low carb keto lifestyle. I have learned to eliminate bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, flour and sugar. I have learned exogenous ketones don’t work and that your body will produce them naturally. I am not down any weight but I have learned a lot and lately that your carbs must be measured and total carbs for me must not exceed total carbs of 20 grams. I think I must weigh out my protein too and to reach a goal weight of 150 lbs must at least eat 21-30 grams of protein at every meal. Any guidance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!

I think the vast majority of people can reduce or even eliminate any inflammatory issues they have by eliminating processed foods, added sugar, grains and seed oils from their diets. Again eating whole foods. Animal based foods should be the major portion of a persons diet with vegetables and fruit as a side. May I further this by saying everyone should be eating a good portion of their vegetables as a ferment, just like our grand parents did.

It is not 100% but to ‘help’ stop starchy carbohydrate food like Rice from transitioning to fatty liver & body fat (Rice - glucose ~ fat) and also help stop Rice from spiking blood glucose.
~~Is to first cook the Rice then cool refrigerate (or freeze) it for at least 12 hours then reheat the Rice.
~~This cooling procedure changes (converts) the Rice (retrogradation) to a much healthier “Resistant Starch” with less fat weight gain and less blood glucose spikes. Reheating Rice back up again does not reverse this procedure.
~Retrogradation of starch is a reaction that takes place when the amylose and amylopectin chains in cooked gelatinized starch realign themselves as the cooked starch “cools”.
~Also (after rinsing Rice) to add another procedure to that. Some say to even help the Rice create even more “Resistant Starch”, is to cook Rice with a “ratio” of 1 teaspoon of Coconut Oil for every 1/2 cup of raw Rice.

There is nothing wrong with carbs! If you are metabolically healthy you are equipped to metabolise them. But the vast majority of people nowadays are not metabolically healthy because of too many REFINED carbs being eaten too FREQUENTLY. Then metabolism of all carbs is impaired until insulin sensitivity is restored.

We also need to keep in mind is multiple people have become Type-2 diabetic when consuming zero carbs, or being on extreme keto. I have heard 3 different doctors mention having patients who had this happen. Also, even if non-essential, having a few complex carbs (not sugar or other simple carbs) each day will add just a bit of energy to our activities which will allow us to walk just a bit faster, not be as tired, or build a little more muscle when we work out. This also comes from the endocrinologists I have been following for the last 30+ years. One of which is one of the pioneers of the low-carb movement so many of us are part of today.

These were individual doctors who had patients whose A1C became elevated after they put them on zero carb diets. Might not be any literature out there for the public to see. The way they explained it, it was like their body was doing the dawn effect all the time, not just in the morning like it does to the rest of us. It isn't very common, but it can happen.
I did see by the time I had finished typing that we agreed about eating some carbs, even if they aren't essential. 2 years ago, my A1C was 14.1. Today, it is under 6, even though I eat about 75-100g of complex carbs per day. Of course, that is also with the 150-200g of protien and who knows how much fat. I tried zero carb, and I felt sleepy all the time and felt exhausted after even a short walk. Now I go on 2 hour hikes, and the only time I feel sleepy during the day is if I don't get enough sleep at night.

@porkpie2884 perhaps you should read Diana Schwarzbein's books. She is one of the doctors who has had this happen to her patients. She isn't talking nonsense.

I went carnivore for 11 days and felt like I was dying. I had to be a scientist to get electrolytes right, I caved and put in veggies. But amazingly I had dry cracked heels and since quitting sugar it got 60% better. It seemed I had extreme extreme difficulty getting into ketosis. Felt like death. But I’m hopeful and in ketosis. It was like climbing a mountain

Don’t listen to her. If you are an athlete you need a lot of carbs. Carbs gives your body energy. It’s a fuel source. I work with a nutritionist every week one on one so I know carbs are very important.

I am a professional athlete, and I agree, for high intensity sport targeted carbs are useful for optimal performance. But this is not the vast majority of the population. And it does not mean carbs are essential nutrients - they still aren't. Maybe give the video a watch before commenting next time 🫢

This is a lie. You do need carbs. If you don’t eat them your body will produce them by way of gluconeogenesis. This in turn causes tremendous stress on the body. If you didn’t need them then why does your body make them? I’ve done keto for 6 years and my testosterone tanked. Sleep terrible. Running was horrible. Started carbs back in and lower fat. Testosterone back up. Sleep improved and mood and running. Why put your body under stress by avoiding carbs. Instead just eat them and enjoy life without the restrictive world of the keto cult.

Just the karma alone should make you think twice
Ask yourself of all the people who die of heart disease this year what percentage would you say eat animal products
And how large is the plant based cohort in comparison
I know it is a little bit more complicated than that
