- Hi I’m a farrier from the uk today we are trimming max.
Max has the biggest hoofs i trim. But you can see he is a gentle giant.
Don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel as I upload horse shoeing and trimming videos on a regular basis.
Hope you have a great day and I’ll see you on the next video 🤙 Животные
Max is a big old strong boy. I’d need a nap after working on him. Great job Peter. Always enjoy watching your videos and your kind heart.
Wow there not hooves there plates but what a gorgeous gentle Max n what a work out for you Peter, great vid
Thank you Marie. They are massive hooves. He really did give me a work out today 😂.
@Peterthefarrier was kinda funny. He moved and you had no choice but to hold on for dear life bc no way you could stop him.
That is most of my life to be honest 😂
What a handsome and gentle boy is Max! Wow those huge feet! He is absolutely adorable and so friendly. His hooves all trimmed up! Thank you for the video Peter. Wish you all the best.😀
He is a big lad. thank you appreciate it 😊
Always love to see you've uploaded ! Thank you 🥰
Thank you 😊.
Max seems a bit mischievous! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 😊. I think he was just a bit that way today. We could tell as soon as they got him out of the stable 😂.
That last picture of his hoof next to the ponies hoof was AMAZING!
Right? I really enjoyed seeing them side by side! 😄
Max sure got wiggling alot.always enjoy your videos. Have a peaceful weekend. ❤❤❤
Thank you Suellen 😊. Hope you have a great weekend.
I think it just tickles 🤠. He looks like a very nice horse.
That hoof made your nippers look like a toy.
I’m not a farrier but I’m an old school Fitter Machinist.
We used to have a thing called a “File Card” to clean crap out of a files teeth.
You just brush across the teeth and it removes the crap.
It’s like a short flat wire brush but meant for the purpose.
We also used to fill the file up with something else like chalk so the shavings wouldn’t stick. 🤠
My god Peter, how on earth do you manage to hold a massive hoof like that between your thighs. You must be able to crush a walnut between them they are so strong.
He’s a big lad. I’ve a fondness fir big draft horses. My grandad worked in a brewery and the horses were his responsibility. He passed when I was only 7 but I remember sitting on his knee since I was a wee lassie and he’d tell me all the stories about the horses. He loved them so much
He's so cute! I love how he leans down to check out how it's going.
Yes!❤
Max is both cute and majestic ❤😊
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
Hello Peter. I love this horse. Big fellow but seems to have a gentle personality. I’m sure you are exhausted after the work.I really do enjoy the explanation when you do the trims. Max even took a look to see how his newly trimmed hooves look. Hope you are able to rest and recover. Best wishes to you and the family!
Always good to see Max.
What a workout that Max gave you. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 😊. Glad they are not all as big as him 😂
It's normal nowadays to file the hoof wall, but it removes the outer waxy, dense layer of the hoof - the stratum tectorum.
A better way might be to leave it in place.
I think there was a trend towards removing it to avoid 'hoof flares', but width of hoof isn't an issue that causes problems.
In wetter climates, removing the outer layer below the periople doesn't make a difference to moisture in the wall, but in dryer places, the hoof needs that protection to prevent cracks.
Nice to see max again. ❤ he’s stunning but those feet are definitely a workout 😂😂 great job Peter hope all is well with you 😊
Thank you 😊. He is definitely a work out 😂. We are all good here got a holiday booked with the family for April.
Yay that’s great where are u off to? How long for? Bet your little boy is excited 😊
We are off to Tenerife for 10 days can’t wait 😊
Will be good for you to have some family time. Not jealous at all honestly 😂
might have to show you all on a video. Not trying to make you jealous 😂
You guys (experienced, empathetic farriers) are worth their weight in gold.
Job well done. The horse was so looking at his hoofs to see what you were doing. 😊
I love his big sigh at the end when you showed his finished hoof. 👍🐴
Great video, that was one big set of feet. Nice to see max being interested in what you are doing?
Check out the Dymondback Cody James rasps. They're expensive, but they last, stay sharp as heck, and don't clog as easily as the conventional ones.
Love your videos! You’re very good and so kind!
Geez! Hold on Peter! Max is one very strong boy, wow! The size of his hooves compared to the pony's, is incredible, but, I have been told they are gentle giants, beautiful horse! Thank you Peter, that was fun to watch, take care.👍💙🐎
What a STUNNING BEAUTIFUL horse this is!! 🤗🥰🐴💐🌹
Such big hooves!! Just BEAUTIFUL!!😊❤
Thank you for what you do for the horses. 🤗😊
Greetings with blessings from Denmark 🇩🇰 👏🐴💐
Max certainly is a beautiful boy! I have noticed that many of the horses you work on do not wear shoes. Is that common in the UK?
I do a good mix of shoeing and trimming. It just seems people like the trimming videos. If you guys want to see more shoeing videos just let me know 😊
@@Peterthefarriermore shoeing pls
If your comment gets 20 likes my next video will be shoeing 😊
What an absolute gorgeous boy Max is. I bet you were exhausted after finishing his hooves!
They look great!!! One beautiful horse! Hello from the Pennsylvania mountains! FJB POS
Trump 2024
Thank you 😊
POS is right!
Thank you Peter. That must be so hard on your back at times.
It can be sometimes. But it is worth it. Love the job I wouldn’t want to do anything else.
@@Peterthefarrier You are a lucky man!
I am I have a job I love and an amazing family with me 😊
Hello from Australia
What a sweet and beautiful horse.
He definitely is. Just a bit mischievous 😂
Your job must be exhausting. No way I could do it, but I do find it fascinating.
So glad to see a new
Video from you!
BEAUTIFUL! What a stunning big guy is Max
Another grand job done there Peter. ❤
Max is so cute!
What a beauty he is! Good job.
Class video hes a gentle giant is max He could put u clean out into the next farm if he wanted He definitely senses your calm demeanor for sure His hoofs remind me of alan partridge's extra large carvery plate that he keeps in his laptop bag 😂🎉

Thank you Liz 😊
Good job, Peter! You got your workout! Way to be patient with the big guy😉
Nice work - He certainly made it hard for you!
Thank you 😊. I definitely earned my money on this one.
Nice to see you..
Have a nice weekend.
Thank you 😊
Max is well named! 😁
Massive hoof, good job
Thank you 😊 he really does have some big hoofs especially when you compare them to a pony 😂
Love it Thank You All
So do they grow in uneven & do they feel that
They are Magnificent Animalz 🐈⬛🐈⬛🖤💙🙃🥰💯🪶❤️🔥🧬🙏💞🪐
Peter, great job, but why didn’t you clean up the commitures (sp ?) on the first hoof? They looked dirty to me?
Max is a beautiful horse! What is that liquid you brush on at the end? Polish? Oil? Hoof moisturizer?
I'm just astonished that you don't have a knackered back or repetitive strain injury in your hands and wrists. It looks an absolutely grueling job.
Sometimes I don’t feel the best especially if I have had a lot of uncooperative horses. But I love the job 😊
@@Peterthefarrier uncooperative or just soreness?
@@PeterthefarrierIt’s not a job if you love what you’re doing. You lucky & talented man. 😊
Is this the same horse that had those extremely overgrown feet like 2 years ago?
I notice that you don't use a loop knife in your trims
Is it me or do horse underneath there feet looks like barn owls faces
can you explain why you left so much wall at the quarters. also do you ever treat the seedy toe or the dorsal wall delamination? if so what do you do?
Must be the rasp which is concerning as mine don't clog like that. Unless it was because the hooves were wet and that caused the shavings to stick.
Appreciate the comment. Unfortunately where I am it is wet weather most of the year around 😂. Maybe that is why.
What's the purpose of the frog on horses and donkeys?
He's quite a big boy! Is he a pet or a working horse?
He gets worked yes 😊 he sure is a big lad. His head is as big as my body 😂
@@Peterthefarrier What does he do?
He just does general riding a bit of hacking and school work 😊
@@Peterthefarrier Thanks for the info. Have a great weekend!
Your so lucky you can just throw your old RASP away when it gets dull and blunt Im afraid i married mine in 1994 and shes not going anywhere for long enough 😢😢😢😢😢
Get the owner to help you with a lick - if he is taking his foot (and you) away, the owner can take the lick away. If he gives you his foot, he can have the lick until it's done. Giving him a sweet experience as he gets his toes done and making your job a little nicer(easier).
Check out Steve Young Horsemanship channel for how to do the lick trick (just passing along good info here).
He doesn't like licks
That's only for horses that are fearful or completely unused to having their feet treated.
This is a different situation. This is a happy, fidgety horse.
