Peter, beautiful job on this horse’s hooves! I’m happy to hear that you had a nice Christmas with your family and some time off to spend with them. I hope your baby is doing well. Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy, prosperous and happy 2024. Take care. ❤🐴
What a gentle and good boy he is! This makes your work much easier and your don't get kicked! Wish you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Very happy to watch a new video for 2024. Always enjoy watching your videos. Wish you all the best Peter🙂
IN the last couple of weeks I have been watching several different farriers. One thing I have learned is how much anatomy of the hoof and leg has to be known by these skilled craftspeople!
Such an awesome job Peter! I think Dermot was very happy with his pedi, lovely seeing him having a roll about at the end, happy new year to you and your family Peter, take care.👍💙🐎
Thank you for explaining the whys and hows of what's going on here. As much as one can tell that the horse is totally fine and unbothered through the process, it still looks jarring and kind of frightful to see so much being cut back and carved away! The end result looks so lovely too, excellent work! :D
Peter, I enjoy watching farrier videos. You are by far my favorite . You seem very knowledgeable, humble, respectful to these beautiful creatures and the work you do is top notch. Keep on doing what you are doing. Best wishes in this new year.
Hello Peter his hooves looked so good after you’d worked your magic, I don’t know why but it looked like he’d kicked off his old slippers and put on his dancing shoes! 😂 wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year ❤
Happy New Year, Peter, to you and all your family!! May 2024 be wonderful for you as you watch your little one grow quickly!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and a very tired Horse Trainer, on baby watch duty for the last foal of the year for me, #5!! In Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
@Peterthefarrier Busy delivering a foal Christmas Eve Morning, but a quiet Christmas Day, Good food and family to share it with, then back to the barn for baby watch for # 4 and 5. Now it's only # 5 I'm waiting on. We need to see if the fillies win or the colts win this year!! #5 is the decider!! LOL 🤣
Hope you had a great Christmas and new year and had some quality time with your son and baby girl. Great video as always. Dermot is so cute 🥰 his feet looked so much better for that trim. 😊look forward to seeing the new jumper 😂😂😂
Happy New Year to you and yours! I appreciate that you take the time to explain how you are approaching the trim with the horse's activities in front of mind. I also really enjoyed watching him find the perfect spot for a roll! Thanks for another great video!
One Christmas, in my late 20's I was actually bummed out to NOT get socks and underwear for Christmas. Not that I got bad gifts from family, but I had to schlep to the stores during the post-holiday returns zoo and get those items myself.
I watched a farrier here in Atlanta and she always used the moisturizer. She should start a channel....she is really good!!! But I love watching Peter's channel. He is so patient with the horses.
In the US, shoers don't use grit/sand paper unless for show horses hooves. Nor that painted on clear stuff unless it is needed for hoof repair or conditioning. I owned 3 horses and worked with over 50 others on 2 horse ranches. And rode over 30 other horses that weren't my own over the last 4+ decades. Even trimmed my own horses if they needed a little of it. Interesting to see how they do it in the UK.
Hello Peter. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Dermot looks like a lovely horse and I am sure he enjoyed his pedicure. He certainly enjoyed his roll in the manège! Hope 2024 will be a good one for you and your family. 😊
Wonderful video Peter! So glad you and your family had a wonderful holiday! Happy New Year, love your videos, and can’t edit the next one, and a wonderful new year!! Love from ❤️🇺🇸👌
Great video, you have my dream job ,but at 66 I think I'm bit too old to retain 😂😂. I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and that the new year is a good one ❤
Prices have gone up all around the uk due to farriers now having to complete CPD courses which they also have to pay for. Their insurances and cost of stock (including rasps shoes nails gas etc) have also gone up. It’s like everything at the minute. Cost of fuel for vehicles it’s become a joke but you get what u pay for I suppose. No hoof no horse 😊
I understand about trimming the frog to prevent dirt etc.. to be entrapped and for ease of cleaning and fir thrush prevention. However. I have been deeply looking all the horses feet at my barn, after my own mare had a bout of laminitis.. and i have been studying hoives up a storm. Seems the professors that have studied the horses foot most say. "Do not trim the frog back" so I have 7 horses whose frogs are not being trimmed at all iverthe last 3 months.. and its such a weird sight to see a full frog in contact with the ground. I do apply a clay into the spaces where there is gaps on the side in the sulcusses. So a long preamble to my question.. mechanically does a full frog not have a valid purpose?
WHEN WAS HE TRIMMED LAST? WHAT LOVELY FELLOW. WHAT TYPE OF BREED IS HE. BEAUTIFUL JOB. MY HORSE IF ANY SOLE IS KNIVED OUT HE IS TENDER SO WE CLEAN THE FROGS OUT, TAKE THE BARS DOWN AND BEVEL THAT WALL. HERE ITS CALLED A BAREFOOT TRIM. ANY SOLE OFF AND HE IS TENDER. Susan
My mare has frogs JUST like this but she also has thrush on the right front. Do you suggest I trim away the dead frog? I am worried because I feel like the frig underneath would be incredibly thin. I also need to ask you if there is a certain depth I can go in the sulcus to clean it and treat for any traveling thrush??>
Imagine if humans had hooves rather than feet. Pedicure shops would be booming bigger than Burger King in every corner. Than imagine women buying [buckets] of paint and brushes for their weekly touch up at night. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Different knives for different jobs just make the job easier. This horse doesn’t do enough road work to need shoes. Also we can only do the job the owners ask for. we can recommend what they need but ultimately it is up to the owner what happens to their horse.
Peter, beautiful job on this horse’s hooves! I’m happy to hear that you had a nice Christmas with your family and some time off to spend with them. I hope your baby is doing well. Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy, prosperous and happy 2024. Take care. ❤🐴
I like that you seem to always put Hoof moisturizer on after your done. I think you are the only Farrier that I've seen do that. Nice Bonus
Isn't he just doing that because he's rasping the sidewall?
What a gentle and good boy he is! This makes your work much easier and your don't get kicked! Wish you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Very happy to watch a new video for 2024. Always enjoy watching your videos. Wish you all the best Peter🙂
Hi Peter! In my world, a gift of socks means that you are very loved!! I really enjoy watching you work. Peace and love 2024

Love watching you clean up.
Just beautiful happy New year to you and yours
Happy new year mate 😊
Lovely job.🎉
Pedicure AND hairdo😂
My hair or his 😂. I definitely need a haircut 😂
Great video and commentary Peter. Enjoy your presentations.
Thank you mate appreciate it 😊
Cannot have enough socks!
My thoughts exactly 😊
Undoubtedly, such a job can only performed by a well trained, highly skilled, experienced, top professional
Happy New Year to you and yours! I appreciate that you take the time to explain how you are approaching the trim with the horse's activities in front of mind. I also really enjoyed watching him find the perfect spot for a roll! Thanks for another great video!
A whole ton of bar. Nice job Peter!
Wow, he has to be one happy horse! Great job ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love how you show the horse moving around after the trim! Happy New Year.
Thank you, Peter. Happy new year to you and your family.
Now that I'm in my 40s, socks are a great Christmas gift!
One Christmas, in my late 20's I was actually bummed out to NOT get socks and underwear for Christmas.
Not that I got bad gifts from family, but I had to schlep to the stores during the post-holiday returns zoo and get those items myself.

Interesting to see how they do it in the UK.
Not every farrier in the uk uses a sanding block or the hoof oil just depends on the farrier I think 😊
Nice job. Beautiful horse. Nice roll! Lol
New socks are the best gift ever! Always take care of your feet.
Hello Peter. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Dermot looks like a lovely horse and I am sure he enjoyed his pedicure. He certainly enjoyed his roll in the manège! Hope 2024 will be a good one for you and your family. 😊
Nice job Peter...you are pretty quick to. I'm sure it's much better for him.
Hes such a goofball. 🕺🎶🐴 Precious 🎉🎉🎉🎉
What is it that you are painting on the hoof?
Socks are the best Christmas gift. Love it.
I like the before and after pictures at the end of your videos.
Happy New Year to and your family all the best for 2024
Happy new year to you Michelle 😊
Love your videos, Peter. 💖 Trust you had a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year with your family. All the best for this year
Lovely clean up job Peter x
Great job! What a huge foot! Australia 🇦🇺

Great Job Peter that's surgery your performing, Awesome 👍
Awesome work! The hoofs look great
He is beautiful!
Another great video. I do love your 'office views'.
Gorgeous horse. Great job. Happy new year to you and your family.
Socks at Christmas is a British staple!
Definitely is and a Lynx Africa set 😂
Beautiful job!!! ❤❤❤
What a beautiful horse
Really nice job, feet look so much better!
Thank you 😊
Whats the shiney stuff you put on them? Is it an oil or something else? Maybe youve explained before. Its lovely. Im sure they enjoy the pampering. ❤
Happy New Year Peter and Family! Dermot is a favorite of mine.
Great video, you have my dream job ,but at 66 I think I'm bit too old to retain 😂😂. I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and that the new year is a good one ❤
Socks are always a good gift.
Nothing like new socks 😂
Definitely, every district job has its unique tools
What is the oil/treatment you apply to the hoof at the end? Dermot's feet are in really good shape it seems to me.
Happy new year to you and your family 💫
Great work!
Very nice job
I really enjoy that big file! Question the white area that you trim off with your knife(not the frog) is that chalky??
What do you charge for a trim? Farriers round by me have racked their prices right up for what is a straightforward trim.
Hi Peter! Thank you for the new video! Glad you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! How did the little one enjoy everything?
Great job.
What is the liquid you apply to the front of the hoof after trimming? I find these videos very interesting and educational.
I understand about trimming the frog to prevent dirt etc.. to be entrapped and for ease of cleaning and fir thrush prevention. However. I have been deeply looking all the horses feet at my barn, after my own mare had a bout of laminitis.. and i have been studying hoives up a storm. Socks! You must be a Dad. Lol

Amazing work! How do you know how deep to go with the sole? this white soles are deceiving
I like you talking throughout about what you're doing and why. What was the clear coating you put on the hooves at the end of each?
Hoof oil 😊
What's the frog made of? Thanks for another brilliant video!
Peter as the children get older the Christmas presents improve from socks but u gotta bide your time
Imagine if humans had hooves rather than feet. Pedicure shops would be booming bigger than Burger King in every corner. Than imagine women buying [buckets] of paint and brushes for their weekly touch up at night. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awww, I've never seen a horse play like that! Why was he rolling around on the ground like a puppy? Just for fun?
Can I ask why you use 3 knives and why don’t they shoe the horse if out on lanes
Different knives for different jobs just make the job easier. This horse doesn’t do enough road work to need shoes. Also we can only do the job the owners ask for. we can recommend what they need but ultimately it is up to the owner what happens to their horse.
Satisfying video
Do horses ever show gratitude afterwards?
Please turn subtitles on, as I can't hear vocals
I think I have put subtitles on now 😊
It became confortable .
I do assume that holding the hoof between your legs is quite tiresome. What is the approximate weight of the hoof you have to keep up.
❤
❤😊❤😊❤😊
What are the bars?
❤barvo
What’s “Hacking” mean?
The litle is: ".......peeling away......" Why? This video shows normal trimming.
Thanks for the informative reply Karen 👍🏻
How can an owner allow this
Cet bus bus bus
My lifelong ambition is to be a horse farrier. The only thing is I can’t stand the smell of horse manure. Do you think this is the life for me?
