I think the Academy should have at least 1 comedy performance every year in each acting category, but I'd have picked Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" over Robin Williams that year.
The boys evidently forgot that Harrison Ford had already been nominated for "Witness". Although I would like to see him play, in Gene's words, "a demented guy".

I never cared for Groundhog Day, I know I'm in the minority, but just don't care for it

Holly Hunter and Emma Thompson in both Supporting nods were terrible pics
I have no clue why they were nominated for those roles, they were average performances in ok movies

@@kd17Burger I thought it was okay, but not a masterpiece classic. I didn't like the ending. Too much of a writer's line at the end when he suggested they live there.

I'm glad Williams didn't get nominated. I wasn't too crazy for that film.

I would put Christina Ricci for Addams Family Values and Parker Posey for Dazed and Confused in the Best Supporting Actress category. Replacing Hunter and Thompson.

At 4:45, Siskel is wrong. The Player was nominated for Directing but not Best Picture.

That's what I was going to say. Surprised Roger didn't correct him.
