Tiffany, a reality queen, is the first to hear the news and reacts thinking its David Guest (who was quite ill at the time so it's believable to house mates that he could have died). Angie told Tiffany alone, with no one else in the room. It also transpires that John, who knew about Bowie's death, was in the shower at the time and couldn't defuse the situation. Thus gifting us the greatest piece of reality television to grace our screens.
A lot of people are overlooking the vital piece which is Tiffany lying about what Angie said. Angie just said 'David' and Tiffany relays an entire make believe back and forth with Angie confirming it was David Gest. I'm guessing it was at that point that Tiffany realised her mistake but didn't want to lose face and so tried to turn the whole thing around ont Angie.
