She helped him become famous. What about David coming from a working class background, and then sending his son to a boarding school that the royal family went to. Is he one of those Hyacinth Bucket types who wish they were upper class? Those working class Tory types who harm others following orders, trying to please and be in with the upper classes.
I think she puts on a tough front to hide the sadness, but she did everything right, as it would have harmed Duncan to take him away from David who he was more close with.
@@pattieboyd2832 She changes her story so often it’s hard to tell what’s true. In Jan ‘78, she told a reporter for the Sunday Mirror, that she planned to file for divorce and fight for Duncan’s custody, In one of her books ( Backstage Passes?) she says she was “blackmailed” into giving up custody .Several Bowie biographers note that privately, divorce discussions began in ‘76/77.
She's the strong smart savvy women that Bowie needed in his early career and he was smart enough to realize it. You can't deny the quality of his work while they were together as a couple. But the way she describes their marriage it seems more like it was a business arrangement verses two people madly in love with each other. After they split and he cleaned up his drug habit, his career soared to new heights. But she's certainly not a soft hearted sentimental romantic type. She hadn't been a part of Bowie's life for nearly 40 years when he passed, so it's not surprising that his death didn't have a huge impact on her. She did a very formidable thing to allow Bowie to have custody of their son, so that he had a reason to clean up his act and become responsible. Although she couldn't be sure about that. So it is debatable that she just wanted to be free of any responsibility herself. It's interesting that she hasn't had any contact with her son since he's been around 14 years old. She's obliviously not interested in his life and Duncan apparently has the same feelings about her.
She's just being honest. Some women just don't have typical feminine reactions. We're all different. Far better that she make choices that are better for everyone than to do what society wants and cause even more problems. After all she said she had the child for David, and she really meant it. Honesty should be more highly regarded. Thinking she should be more like someone she isn't is egoic and disrespect her real self. She has to deal with who she is and live with it- not you.
@@wormwood8191 So true. I agree. We are who we are and we dishonor ourselves when we try to be something other than ourselves. There's a phrase that a lady friend of mine uses that I just love. "Be yourself, because everyone else is taken".
I’m a major David Bowie fan, and I’m the 70s when he and Angie married they both were free spirited people. They also had an open relationship and she worked for the record company that Bowie signed with and a lot of things he did fell on her that she was responsible for which is why they separated. So to see a lot of the rude comments in here on Angie are cruel. She’s the reason for Ziggy, if it wasn’t for her helping Bowie after his first band fell apart there would be no Ziggy! Also you weren’t in their marriage or their life then and neither of them have hard feelings for one another after their divorce. So chill out!
That is a strange age for a mother and son to part ways. A son wouldn't seen mature enough to cling to anger toward his mother and desire it to permanent.
Why does she call herself Bowie? Even David himself was officially David Jones. Their son is called Duncan Jones. She is using her ex-husbands stage name. It feels wrong. Maybe there is something I don't know.
As a major Bowie Fan I know a lot. But maybe you should learn the facts before slandering someone. It’s a stage name she’s tried to have legally changed and can’t. Also she worked with the record company that David signed with his first band The Feathers and helped him launch Ziggy. Without her help he wouldn’t have been able to be Ziggy.

She comes off as someone who is controlling but then I don't really know her but what I saw on big Brother and other interviews is a woman who speaks and maybe thinks afterwards but even so she thinks she is right.
Did she subsequently remarry? She probably had the option to re-assume her former maiden name post-divorce through the final decree, but chose to keep her ex-husband's name from their marriage.
A loud mouthed American with a voice like a blowtorch. She wasn't attractive even when she was young. No idea what Bowie was thinking. However Duncan Jones is a creative and good human being so .......
It seems obvious that she in no way was the mother type and only got pregnant for Bowie. Such behavior would not be well received by any child who didn't really have a mother but an indifferent adult instead. But like I said above she just wasn't that way and she knew it. We don't know her history nor her mental state so far better for her to be honest and do the right thing as much as she was capable of doing.
I love Bowie and especially Ziggy. I have to say after the initial shock of what she said about last seeing her son, that she was instrumental in marketing Ziggy and the Spiders and it seemed when Bowie was done with that phase he walked away from everyone. Im sure she had a "Take your kid with you" outlook on the betrayal.
@thejoin4687 I suspect that Bowie no longer viewed Angela as a muse by the time he wrote “Outside”.In fact I doubt he considered her at all. Of the two Angela seems to be the one who thinks about him incessantly.

She was most definitely a HUGE part of David Bowie’s life, history, fame, style and evolution.❤️
She gave him a wonderful son, that's it. *Bowie* was the talent, he was going to be huge whatever.
She's a narcissist. I'm so glad David found a beautiful woman like Iman.
