    Your instructions are graphically beautiful!👍🎸 Too many modern teachers don’t get how much quicker the students can learn when presenting visually with notation at various speeds.

    Sounds more like metal sweep picking through the minor scale and less blues like.

    I'm signing up for the patreon. It seems like you posted most of what you played here but there is a higher run and then you come back to the posted "start point" for the shown sheet music. So awesome but I want it all lol. Am i hallucinating?

      Yep everything is transcribed on Patreon! The post for this one focuses on that specific phrase, however, this is actually from my solo at the end of my longer 'Minor Blues Scale Hack' video. The full solo is also transcribed on Patreon and it'll be linked from the post for this. Send me a message over on Patreon if you have troubles finding it. Many thanks!

    Will check this out! I already practice your arpeggio exercise every day.
    Btw, can I ask you what strings (brand, type and gauge) you use? I like the clarity of your tone a lot, I know it's mostly in the hands, but anyway :)

      Sure thing! I use Elixir Nanoweb Nickel Plated Steel strings (Medium: 11-49). Thanks for checking out the channel.

    Hi Robbie, am loving your content! May I ask how you develop speed? What methods have you found to work for you etc. Cheers!

    • @RobbieBarnby
      @RobbieBarnby  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for checking out the channel and for your question. That’s a bit of a hard one to answer because I’ve never really prioritised speed over the musical concept. Developing speed has always been a secondary thing to me and it tends to naturally develop as I work on what I’m trying to musically achieve. That being said, there are times where I’ve stumbled on technical things which I’ve needed to address in order to achieve the music. This varies depending on what I’m focused on learning but I think the speed comes once a concept becomes more familiar, subconscious and therefore effortless. So it’s tricky to pinpoint anything specific but I do believe that doing longer general warm-ups or exercises can help with building stamina and control if done in the right way. It’s also good for strengthening your consistent focus over a longer period of time which is a very useful thing to develop as an improvising musician. Apologies for it not being a direct answer to your question, I’ll definitely give it some more thought though!

    RUclips just suggested your arpeggios video after I watched one from Kiko Loureiro, thankful to the algorythm at last. Is this all played in alternate picking?

    • @RobbieBarnby
      @RobbieBarnby  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for checking out the channel. For this, I mainly use alternate picking but with a few hybrid picking moments and some slurs thrown in. Hope that helps!
