I worked for Wendys for 7 years while in college and grad school. Our store trained new managers, so Dave came by every year. He would share everyone's hands and gave out little pins to us. He always asked how school was going and would tell me that I was nice to the customers. He was a very nice man.

Dave Thomas... one of your better entrepreneurs. He seemed like a good honest fair man. I remember those ads in the 70's which was odd to me to see square hamburgers! Wendy's was always good, little greasy but good. You did it right with the classic and frosty. Chili is always been a favorite too.

I also worked at Wendy's while in high school. Our franchise was located next door to a Pizza Hut & across the street from a Burger King, which proved very convenient for trading food on weekend afternoons. All of the workers, saved for the managers, were teen-agers. Some were hardworking & others slacking. An interesting experience, indeed!

This is my local Wendy's. I guess I'm just so used to the little museum that it's kind of amusing to see a vlog about it! I will say that the flagship store is pretty cool because it's run by corporate (which is right across the street) so the quality is always great and occasionally they have limited run items on the menu.

Dave was a humble man. I wonder if his adopted mom ever knew how successful her son got. But he did good. Sometimes it the humble ones that work hard and end up making a success of thier life. I'm sure when he thought a million dollars was a lot. Today a million dollars not a lot. We was taught study, if we wanted to further our education we could. I remember working at dairy queen. My first job. I was able to buy clothes, I felt proud getting my first pay check. You have to start somewhere🙂. I think if he was alive today he'd probally be finding a way to cater to vegans. There would probally be a veggie burger. More salad choices. To.please everybody. Loved those commercials. It's people like you Jordan who educate us and remind us of our childhood, the food, people and places that are long gone. Love it how jah just chilling.🙂🤗. Take care, be safe on the road.👍💯💜✌🙌🧘‍♀️🦋🌠🌻🌷🙏🙂👋. Love, respect and positivity always. Nj.

Thank you for this video because it really did take me back. I went to law school at Capital University, which is about three blocks east from there on Broad Street and, funny enough, is the home to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Law. We would eat at the original Wendy's probably 2 or 3 times a week (at a minimum) which, at the time, was where the original museum was located. Fun story, they did have a full-size mannequin of the "Where's the Beef?" lady and most of the tables were done up in the 1970s old-fashioned newspapery motif. I guess maybe I'm older than most, but that is what I remember from going to Wendy's when I was a child, along with the salad bar. Dave Thomas was an original Class Act and probably one of the best human beings this world had to offer. Again, I'm glad you did this. Thank you for the little trip through nostalgia-land. is much appreciated.
P.S. I love the Wild Thing, Major League hat. That was the whole reason I have even checked the channel out. Good show, cheers!

I loved the newsprint tables and I miss them! I wish they still used them. And the Tiffany style lamps! My Wendy's at east main in Rochester NY had both way into the 80s. I would pour over the antique advertising on the table. They updated a couple times scince then and sadly they look modern now and both those features are gone. But they did put in a fake fireplace thing.

Worked at Wendy's in high school. Best fast food anywhere. We never put a patty on the grill, until someone walked in the lobby. Col. Sanders was an old curmudgeon. He wanted Dave to pick the chicken out of the fryer. When Dave dumped the basket Sanders flipped out, and their relationship suffered after that. Unfortunately, the Wendy's in my area have suffered without Dave. Slow as mud, never clean and tidy. Shameful. His Daughter's name was Melinda, but one sibling couldn't say that, so she was called Mewinda, then Wendy. They used pipe cleaners to keep her hair in place.

One small correction, the building location of the OG Wendy’s is still there. It’s about 20 yards east of where you were standing when you were standing at the historical marker. The building is now The Catholic Foundation.

I love Wendy's although from my memory I think their burgers tasted better in the 1980's. I remember the square burgers being more juicier. I could be wrong. I wonder if anyone else remembers the burgers being juicier? It was almost like they cooked the meat by boiling it in water.
The other thing that I miss are the all-you-can-eat salad bars (even though I got a bad case of diarrhea once from the salad bar, probably from a dressing gone bad) . In today's economy there is no way a fast food restaurant would bring back an all you can eat salad bar.
Some things were better in the old days. But I still love Wendy's!

The original location was my dads favorite location. Growing up we went at least once a month to eat there.

"I'm the beef!" ~ Joe Gatto ;) Way to go ,Dave! Loved Wendy's way better when he was still around. He couldn't have picked a better day to leave the building than the King's birthday. 😇

One of my town's wendy's had those chairs and newsprint tables until they tore it down in the early 90's.

Jordan, Maybe you will see this..... A few months ago you did a vlog on The Louisville Slugger Factory, and yesterday you went to a Baseball game with your Grandfather and Tara. Well, Southern Living just did their 2021 Idea House. If you go to the Southern Living Vlog for the Idea House, they have a pretty cool hidden (in plain sight) secret in the Master Bedroom that is a Nod to Louisville..... The Master Bed has 4 Louisville Slugger Bats that make up the 4 posts on the bed! It really is pretty special! I am an Interior Designer and I was impressed by it. Anyway, they show the bed at the 13:00 minute mark. Enjoy! JD
