I love the lyrics: "Ding ding doon doon dunt da dunt da, ding ding doon doon dunt da ding ding." A lot of thought went into this! I can actually see the story of the birds in my mind, these guys are like, freakin' Shakespeare!
style. repetition of patterns. rythm. can you dig it? "No psychological knowledge is a mere mechanical echo of its object. It is rather, like knowledge of external nature, dependent upon the forms that the knowing mind brings to it, and in which it takes up the data." (Georg Simmel, 1906)
This is my favorite piece by ratatat. the clicks and pops remind me of weird noises we might here our brain make when we are happy. the weird gurgle voice is very odd and a little creepy but the darker side of me thinks its sexy as hell? Yep this song soothes my virgo brain with it's clean beats. I am a music enthusiast and one of my favorite things to do is break music down to see if I can tell which instrument is which. This song is like a huge beautiful puzzle for me. I want to know where these clicks and pops are from, they sound really familiar? I know I hear autoharp, which makes me very happy. Mandoline and caribbean styled piano. There is so much more to this though. Does anyone else break music down that they enjoy?
Funny thing. When I was young, if you heard a song in a commercial, you and your "cool" friends would accuse the band or the artist of "selling out". I will admit to some music snobbery back then. These days, the radio tends to be a slave to the corporate music machine. Mind you, I love me some Taylor Swift and many of the other artists that Top 40 is selling so I'm a bit past the snobbery but...... Now, I find some of the most innovative artists listening to music in commercials and then Googling the lyrics to find out who it is. Not sure how to feel about that, but there it is.
Pie A La Mode Well, most of the time I'm not one for music videos, but the low quality video loops and tessellated birds in this work of beauty are, just, strangely entertaining. I mean, this song was released on LP4 so you don't *have* to listen to it along side the music video. idk, maybe I'm just a weird dude.
Pie A La Mode Well, I can't say I know how to feel being compared to a parakeet, but it's good to know I've got something in common with someone-er-something. The song itself has grown on me and I keep finding myself with the song stuck in my head, but it's not the same without the video, so I guess you're right about that.
I love how everyone thinks they are chickens. The white ones are Budgies, the gray ones that come at 1:12 are African Grays But whatever, it doesn't matter. Song is sick.... so is the spinning Beethoven bust!
What is with your obsessions with my two favorite birds, that i owned as pets just by chance? The bits with the African Grey in the background just make me jealous, love the video!
I miss this band
Me too bro, me too
This is such a hidden gem of early RUclips. True pioneers
2010's weren't early youtube
@@Dr_Pickle considering RUclips started in 2005, and it’s 2022. This video came out in 2010, making it “early RUclips”…….
@@BREATHER_ Before the Thumbs up/down system is early youtube imo
@@Dr_Pickle That was like alpha/beta pre-youtube when they were changing things around all the time lol
This song is like popping mental bubble-wrap that is coming in through the ears. It a very textured.
I love it.
Things vfx artists have to endure:
"I want, like, a bird carpet, ya know?"
that fuckin baseline gives me goosebumps.
This song is all basslines and bong rips. Sick.
I used to teach a design class. I would put this on when the students needed to focus and be creative. It was good work music for them.
aaaandd thennnnnn
Definition of genius. No other word
how did they get all those birds to move in synchronization
Welcome to the 21st century!

There a touch of genius in there, I liked it. Better than 99.9% of low budget productions I've seen on here.
Just so groovy.
You’ve come a long way.
I love the lyrics: "Ding ding doon doon dunt da dunt da, ding ding doon doon dunt da ding ding." A lot of thought went into this! I can actually see the story of the birds in my mind, these guys are like, freakin' Shakespeare!
That's the sound they play over the radio waves to program the birds
This is probably the fucking coolest music video everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Who is this man? and why does he own so many birds?
+Prince Reptile One of the two guys who are making this music.
Was joking bro
Prince Reptile And the bird is called Louis
+Delu xe The bird's name was actually Fellini. Unfortunately he died in 2013. :( twitter.com/despotroast/status/316663812054994945
***** ok i admit it, i said a random name
Ouah ! C'est donc lui pour le générique de l'émission "Sur les épaules de Darwin" sur France Inter ! C'est tout simplement génial ! Thanxs guy!
I wish I had a moving bird wall.
you do? you really do?

I always wondered what the Presets would look like if they were birds.
Pure awesomeness. 5 years old but still as fresh
it ages like a fine wine

All your bird are belong to us.
This is amazing
Played this song for my two parakeets and they started chirping without even seeing the video so can confirm this is a good song for birbs.
Birds grooving to the music, the music itself, and the fact Beethoven it wearing bling makes me conclude that... no they aren't on drugs.
Bout time birds get the street cred they deserve
Какой глубокий смысл есть в этом видео. Только человеку прошедшему этот путь , поймет как прекрасно это видео. Попугаи рулят😂
These guys are under-rated...It's not wonder I'm hearing them for the first time now...
Ratatat knows the way to my heart and ears
These birds are the fabric of nightmares

I feel like Ratatat knows how to get the most out of it *looks back at some cool experimental phases*
Yes they do...all you need is the music......
great
You’ve come a long way.
They were just about to swing and knock me out with a baseball bat, then I played this song and we all rolled joints together.

Omg i love Ratatat. Been obsessed with them for a while now but i just now found this song and video... So awesome.
Moooooooom Ratatat got into the filters again, and made a music video with them.
Dude, this is incredible! Your Atlanta show was mind-blowing! You guys are awesome.
Honestly, I don't think I would like this song without this goofy yet hypnotic music video to catch my interest.
TheTaleOfSirRobin "I don't think I'd like this song without the aspects vital to making this song what it is" Lol you goober.

My parakeet likes this song because of the parakeets in the video. You remind me of her!

Ratatat is awesome, they make groovy videos, but their music is even better!
These birds have good taste; grooving and fruging to cool music. Nice trippy, groovy electro-psychedelic jams.
Can you make a karaoke video for this? ;)

I love how everyone thinks they are chickens. The white ones are Budgies, the gray ones that come at 1:12 are African Grays
