Tory Lanez dropped an NFT album connected to a smart contract and basically went into business with his fans, as a purchase of an album put the listener in ownership of a stock. (There’s a video of him speaking on this) Depending on the how well the project streams the value of the NFT increased or decreased. Sounds pretty threatening to the current form of releasing music. Part of why he may even be in this foolishness. Of course, the other part is his choices.
It wasn’t dependent upon how well the album performed but that is part of the reason. Some fans were reselling it for 60k. He was getting a percentage of each sell and the fans were making thousands reselling.

He can’t do papers he’ll get deported and even waiting for deportation can take up to a whole year while in ICE custody. Violent crimes in California to 85% mandatory they gave him under a year on time served so he’ll do about 8 years before he’s eligible for parole, no guarantee he’ll get out on parole but even if he does get out 8 years from now he’ll be in ICE custody 6 months to a year awaiting deportation.
