"Giving back" publishing to artist nobody is streaming really doesn't mean much unless he's also giving them the back dated money they're owed from back then. He's also making them sign an NDA in order for them to get it back which means they can never make money of speaking about their experience during that time in bad boy. He's still bogus.

I was hoping the team would address this without any bias but this definitely didn’t happen. Alot of muted tongue action. Of course Diddy could have simply held on to the rights, but the real reason he contractually offered to return the publishing is for NDA purposes. The NDA prohibits the artist from speaking about their experiences with Diddy. Many of his former band artists have spoken about wanting to film a documentary about their time together and with Diddy, why would they trade that financial opportunity for $400. And beyond “it’s a business, you signed it, you should be grateful, he didn’t have to” the bigger position of the artist is if it’s return once the values been taken what’s the point.

Did jokes die after the 90’s the same era that R&B died too? Is that why people are so uptight because most people aren’t getting laid because most of that stopped when that mood music died lol Lighten up. Usually, people do things that are mutually beneficial. It’s very rare that a person does something that is 100% for someone else, 100% from a person’s heart, or the “right thing”. Diddy mentioned it was partly a business decision. And then he went on to say he was doing what God told him to do, and that he wanted to lead by example!
Focus on the “he didn’t have to do that” statement. Diddy first said it was a business decision. It would make sense to give artists bad their publishing, which happened months ago, not recently so why is he choosing to mention it now could it be because he lost the liquor and cannabis company deal/contract because of his bad reputation, because there’s barely any money in publishing in this day and age. So, the statement “he didn’t have to do that” doesn’t mean diddly squat because it’s something that makes sense for him to do from a business stand point. But he looks like a hero. Diddy is a smart business man. But to say he “did the right thing” there is truth between those words. He did the right thing for himself, as a business man. If he really cared about the artist and was close to God, he would hype his artists up so they can get attention, publicity because it would help the artists when it comes to streaming, even if it doesn’t make sense for him to do it as a business man at this current time, because times change and not every artist would be popular in modern times, but it would be selfless, and it would help. For example, when Stranger Things decided to include Running up That Hill by Kate Bush, and when Taylor Dayne was featured in commercials that revived their careers and they were able to make money.
If you do your research, a former artist that used to be in a group under Bad Boy, talked about the publishing offer, that the artist obviously didn’t take because of the contents in the offer (because if the artist accepted the offer, the artist wouldn’t be allowed to say what was said in the interview). So, Diddy sold the catalogue, a Sony purchased it, the artists only get what’s owed from the time of sale and after. In order to get that, in the deal it said that the artist had to release him for any claims, or wrong doings, or actions, prior to the date of the release, sign an NDA to never disparage Puff, Bad Boy, Janice Combs or Justin Combs music or any EMI or Sony in ever in public. There are many bad boy artists speaking out about it. All of that is important for his reputation and because it’s so negative, he has to do a lot of marketing.
So, all of this happened after Diddy made millions and the publishing isn’t useful to him anymore. When it comes to publishing and streaming rights, you have to stream the songs millions of times to try to make a penny. Some of these artists won’t see anything from their publishing, some will only see under a grand for their publishing. You won’t see much unless a streaming farm is set up. Artists, the ones that are still popular make majority of their money from touring, sponsors, side deals such as apparel etc etc.
By the way, y'all are defending a guy that took out a PPP loan during covid (which were meant for small businesses but only the mega rich received) in the amount of $1,929,252. The loan program cost U.S tax payers over $950 billion dollars!

Signing a contract that you don't understand isn't a fair deal, period. Entertainment business, the business as it is called seems to be a bad business. Most op in for the fame and forget about the money and the business of entertainment. If you doing bad business from a position of Power, you will reap all the benefits of the contract and that is the business.

You know who’s on diddys side when they say “he didn’t have to give it back”! Why not give it back 10 years ago? Cuz he wanted to 🥛 the money from it til it was worthless. You kept it forever to make millions but wouldn’t sell it back but suddenly you’ll give it away for free when your sole purpose of keeping it was to make money??? Makes sense or obviously some finessing shady bs going on like always with Diddy!

There are just too many things transpiring now Keefe D just so happened to get arrested after all these years and you know Zesty King got the heads up before time. He has to keep people from talking. What better way than to give them back what should have been theirs from the beginning? Joe you're a puppet and it doesn't matter how much money you have because you have no core/soul you're just hollow.

Mase tried to buy his publishing but Diddy SOLD the rights to some of his catalogue. So he technically couldnt sell it back to Mase because he didnt have the rights himself. Thats the shady end of Diddy he would do deals with other publishers and take advances for Millions and not chip off the artist, because he owned the PUBLISHING lol brilliant but shady..

Diddy gives pub rights back after 20+ yrs of getting rich...that cow has already been milked so its nothing but an insult gift wrapped w a big bow. The Lox, 112, and everyone else who worked under BadBoy arent in their prime, popular, or making music. Young ppl never even heard of 112, Total, or Mase!!! This is another example of Diddy tryna play it like he's giving them something....he's handing them blank checks to a bank acct that has no $ in it.

A lot of people in these comments don’t understand what an asset is and it’s very telling. Publishing is an asset, something that earns passive income. Owning it means you will eat off of it FOREVER. Diddy giving it back (not selling it but giving it back) is something that should be applauded since he really didn’t have to do it.

Interesting. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. He just received the key to NYC, MTV's Global Icon Award and he's about to spring new music on us. Anyhow, he curiously waited until the streaming era to give his artists they publishing. Gon wait until music is basically free and don't nobody care no more. I've gone on record several times over the years stating that "anything you give away for free will come back around and fuck you up." Furthermore, what if the artist(s) didn't write they music in the first place? Eh, I don't know. I hope it all works out for those artists. Shoot, we all saw Black Rob's condition before he passed. He couldn't get one red cent, much less his publishing. The Lox shouldn't have to be in & out of court fighting over music rights at nearly 50 years old. They should be living worry-free w/ they hair down someplace in the Bahamas.

I think its bigger than $$ tho for the artists. to exist in the world when the fame stop shining and the money slows up .. then also realize you got played is not an easy fleet. to have been hindered of what cld have been with ALL the money they made .. regardless of the future goes beyond $$ .. thts ripping someones soul. mase will never forgive him and i guess thts why people hate Diddy now ... tht soul burn of crossing ppl ... tht rage .. will come to bite you later bc it will find you; the tables do always turn.
