I don't want to be overly negative on my channel but I have to pin this comment. I've gotten a lot of hate for correcting my speech around the word Indigenous - never thought I'd be called a racist pig and a woke liberal in the same day, new to RUclips and it's been a wild ride lol. I don't like shallow wokeness at all, and a lot of far left people are just douchebags and want to police every little thing. But as a card carrying Conservative I'm highly disappointed with some of my brethren. Using correct terminology in publicly presented informational videos isn't woke, it's necessary. I'm not shooting the breeze on the weekend with buds, there are different standards for public speech and private chat with friends. Duh. I don't think it's racist to say the wrong words, it's just not the best choice for videos like this. Duh.
Sounds trite, but I truly want this to be a channel where people come together from different backgrounds and political stripes.
I appreciate everyone watching and engaging with my videos, cheers!
Note - I said at the end of the video that I'd be posting a gangs of Calgary video on Sunday. I'll be posting a different video this Sunday and then the gangs of Calgary video next week.

Ey, you will NEVER have a 100% satisfaction rate, you have to be ok w that. Mother Theresa or even Jesus would get cussed out in this eco-system. One thing I learned over all my channels/years, you get thick skin fast when being a public presenter/creator, and can't over-apologize or attack back - they will eat you fast. Just be impartial, intelligent people fully innerstand what you're doing.

    • @strangenorth
      @strangenorth  8 месяцев назад +3

@@NORBZMUSIC Hey bro I appreciate the insight - you're right. I definitely don't want to over-apologize or cater to the crazies with their insane complaints, but people have been pretty reasonable in explaining word distinctions and how I might be more precise. And I want to present things as well as possible if I'm putting out these public videos dealing with highly sensitive topics. It's definitely been an adjustment going from a couple hundred views a video to this gong show. I hear you though, good looking out mate. Learning to let things slide and prioritize what I respond to. Cheers

Im only 25% MicMac and mostly Balkan Serbian, but i know lots of gangs, and i slowly progressed into Crime and Gangs myself when i was 12/13yrs old, i started getting Charged and my Court Sentences started off with 1 year Probation and Fines at 13, and then got 9 months Monitored House Arrest a few weeks after my 15th BDay except for when i was at School, but my Junior/High School was Very Strict and i was a Troubled Kid, which didnt mix, it had Extra-BulletProof Glass with Wires in between 2 Bulletproof Window Panes, and was quite a Large School that had over 1,400 13-18yr old Kids, plus over 150 Teachers & Staff, it also had 4 Un-Armed Security Guards that were Controlled by 2 Rotating Armed Police Officers with a Mini Police Sub-Station in the School with an Office Equipped with 2 Holding Cells. The reason was mostly because of a Bomb Threat at one of the Elementary Schools a few blocks away in 97'/98'ish, and i was attending there when it happened, i was in Grade 3, and after i was done 3rd Grade something terrible had happened to my mom, and my Mom had to Move Us to a 17Story Womens Shelter in Downtown Edmonton, that had a Kindergarten-Grade 7 School with a Fenced Protected Rooftop Playground at the 10th Floor for the first half of Grade 4, and then We were moved to Wetaskwin Women's Shelter where i Finished the other Half of Grade 4, and we moved back South shorty after the end of my School year in July 1999. This just happened to be 3 months after a School Shooting in 99', a CopyCat TrenchCoat School Shooting that happened just a few days after Columbine happened... Anyways after i did my house arrest i was still 15, but was getting worse and more involved in the Streets, at 16yrs old in 2006, i did 1 Short 6 Month Youth Sentence (Served 140 of 180 Days) in CYOC, and once i was 18, actually on my 18th bday i got 30 days in jail which was a sh!tty 18th bday, lol but in all, ive done a few Short Provincial Stints (30, 90, 150, and 320 Days) and a Couple Longer Provincial Stints (400 and 480Days) All in Alberta, and your right about the Warriors, they are Usually Lead by Native American Members and have alot like 3/4 Native or Part Native Native Members, but its been a Mixed Gang Now for a while (All Western Province Factions anyways), and AB and BC Warriors consist of quite a few Full Blooded Caucasian, African-Canadians, and Asian members. Good video tho man! KEEP IT UP!
I just wanted to Correct you tho, so you can Learn and maybe have Some Short 5-10 Minute Part.2 Extended Videos, that will ALL Ultimately Add Up to More Subs, Likes, and Views. It will also Reach a Larger Audience, and Practice for You and Your Content Creating for your YT Channel and hopefully put some extra Change in your pocket, if your up to it.
First i want to help ya out and teach ya some info on the Black Caribbean and African-Canadian Gang Gang Prescence to look up Carribana ha eto know that Edmonton is #2 in Canadas Top 5 Metros with African, African-Canadian, and Black Caribbean Gangs, so it does have the Largest Black Gang Prescence Outside of Toronto followed by MTL and then Winnipeg and Halifax. However Toronto and Edmonton both Hold some of the Largest Carribana Festivals in North America, but the Black gangs are mostly Caribbean Jamaican, Hatian, Brazilan, and Dominican, followed by Nigerian, Congolese, and Ethiopian Gangs. The Alberta Government has a Reccomendation though that Mainstrean Newspapers and News NetWorks dont use the Gang Names, so its harder to study.
Calgary, Vancouver and MTL will be awesome Vids, those cities have more Organized Large Mixed Criminal Organizations that arent based on Race Anymore, Although they may have a Name that Says so.. However ALOT of White/Dark White Southern/Eastern European Balkan, Mediterranean, and Baltic 1st-3rd Generation people with Family Members from Countries like Ukraine, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Romania, Armenia, Albania, Italy, Greece, Spain. Ireland and France as well.
Another Cool Video would be on Albertas Large Town-Mid Size City Gangs with Populations under 200k. Also The Okanagan (Kelowna, West Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, Peachland) would be Awesome!!

I have some knowledge of gangs, but I don't know everything and I have a lot to learn about that world. I hope I was mostly fair and balanced in this video.
I really appreciate all the tips you gave me, lots to research and think about. You also make a great point about how a lot of gangs sort of started out being a certain ethnicity and then they gradually include members from other races to become more diverse. That seems to be happening more and more and I think I could mention that more in my videos. I'm still a rookie at this but I'm really motivated to up my game and bring people better videos.

as someone with native blood who has faced racism countless times; there is absolutely nothing wrong with calling first nations people natives. anyone who has a problem with that has a chip on their shoulder or too much time on their hands. that being said, the most important thing is to not be racist in your day to day life. when racism shows it's ugly face at schools workplaces and even hospitals it can be quite devastating. (seen hiring processes in Kingston Ontario AND Vancouver BC where the person looking through resumes singles out a native sounding last name, making a joke, and dismisses the applicant immediately.

I also think that there are different standards when I'm presenting public information versus just chatting casually with friends. A bunch of people called me out for misusing Indian and aboriginal specifically. I'm a rookie at all this and still learning.

Good for you for clarifying the "indigenous" terminology. It can get a little bit complicated, especially from place to place sometimes, and terms can be very generational too. Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate when people take the time to comment - I get you, just trying to be as respectful as possible. Also I'm giving information presentations, not like I'm just shooting the breeze with buds in the garage. I hear you though, cheers mate!

You should read Danny wolfes book they said they started on langside there was 7 of them. I'm not sure if they are against the bikers tho when I was in stoney they where running with them but I heard they are not with them again. MOB are not with the warriors any more. There is no red alert here TS is not really here and they had green rags.

Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to comment - I actually haven't read that book, that's a great recommendation. I understood there was still a small Redd Alert presence in Winnipeg but it was very limited. I didn't know about TS using green rags in Winnipeg, have they always done that?

I taught my childern never answer to Indian, it's a derogatory slang given to us ... not who we are. We are not from India.

Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate when people take the time to leave feedback - that's a fair point. I was a little ignorant on terms and I've learned a lot. Cheers

The government guiding speech is out of line, and you haven’t used any words I don’t on the reservation. Indigenous is an educated white persons creation, and who needs them.
