Wonderfully designed those '61-63 'Birds. Some of the best designs Ford ever did. Nice color too. Like some of the other guys who commented, I'd get rid of the rims and go back to the original caps. So much more stylish and smooth.
The car looks like its held up pretty well, but like me, the driver is showing his age. Why on earth did someone ruin this vintage classic with those cheap looking wheels?
You stole my reply! I started to say, if you're going to dress it up, don't change the wheels to aftermarket items. If they were Kellsey- Hayes genuine wire WHEELS that's one thing and came as a stock option. But NEVER aftermarkets you can buy from AutoZone!
The power steering was somewhat numb, and that is typical of early 60's cars. The brakes were very good considering it's weight. Coming over a hill one night there were cattle on the road. NOT MUCH DISTANCE TO STOP, but we stopped in time and the stop was straight.
My first car was a hardtop 62 (white). Beautiful car you have there. The only thing I can't enjoy is the mag wheels and low profile tires. For me even the original wheels with no hubcaps would look better than those... That's just my opinion
As a teenager I enjoyed cruising in a blue one just like this car. Same equipment. As well as being fast, I remember it being a great handling car considering the 4 ply nylon tires that were on it.
Roger B. The birds from that era usually average about 10mpg on a 20 gallon tank. Yes, that’s not the best, but it has enough style to where it doesn’t matter. If one wanted to save on fuel mileage, they’d drive a Prius.
Im an old school guy, get rid of the ghetto wheels, and the 'sparkly' paint job... Stick with stock color palette and original wheels covers, and whitewall tires. You'll get a lot more looks, and a lot more on resale.
Love the car .... Hate the wheels .... Original wheels would made all the differents
That would be a great car if it didn't have those dickhead wheels. I hope you saved the originals.

+GooglFascists That's Pete, a real good dude and old car dealer from way back. Yep the wheels were terrible. I bet they are changed by now. - Sam

How is the power steering in these? We are buying a 61. A little bigger than my 67 beetle.

I love these bullet birds. They've grown on me over the years. I appreciate you following Samspace81 too
Lose the wack ads wheels ,but glad you didn't put a passenger mirror there were no passenger mirror in 62 ,good job
Thanksb
My wife had a white Thunderbird of this same year back in high school and I remember it was the first car I worked on.
Thanks for sharing 👍
I'd love to see some more of your interior, the color scheme in particular.
Nice wheels, love the style! But, you should have gone with chrome.
Beautiful Bird! Is this the original paint color?
@samspace81 yeah i was like WTF when i heard that
1:29 - 1:35 I had to change my pants TWICE
like stepping back in time, this car man
i love all t-birds but i'm debating on buying a bullet bird or a '65 model.just wondering, what kind of gas mileage do you get?

I actually thought the wheels go rather well with this car, particularly as the 62 hubcaps are nothing special.
Still...the aftermarket wheels actually DETRACT from the overall aesthetics of the car.
How much do you want?
1:59 AGAIN
