Van Morrison is one of those rare people who sing from a different dimension, some other frequency, He's not singing TO YOU, but there is a magic that sings thru him. He's the radio! The conduit. \Magic, mystical, don't even have to hear the words to be taken to a new planet with him. Van the Man.
Martin Scorsese made a documentary about what was to be The Bands Last concert. There were more than a dozen musical artists who performed with The Band at this concert.
Have loved Van Morrison since a roommate in the 70’s, turned me onto his incredible voice & soul 🥰 What an amazing production by Martin Scorsese 🤩💎 Favourites by Van the Man ‘Moondance, Browneyed Girl & Into The Mystic’💗listen to them everyday !
Love Van the Man. All his music is so captivating. His vocals are so recognizable, his lyrics spinning a tale you have to follow and the instruments continually drawing your attention. This song is amazing but live, above and beyond amazing. "Into the Mystic" will always be my favourite.🤗🤗 Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. Great choice. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I'm posting as a retired Canadian living in Khon Kaen, Thailand, and a 52 year Van fan, too many excellent songs for a favourite but one I play frequently is a concert performance (11:29) of "And the Healing has Begun"
It's sort of wild how Van's stage fright has dominated his career. If I remember, he wasn't even at the venue when he was supposed to start and they basically had to shove him out there.
I used to play Van Morrison for my teenage daughter, and she was often disinterested. That summer she got a job as a server in an intimate little restaurant and became good friends with the chef who loved to cook as he listened to Van.3 months later my daughter is playing Van Morrison, and loving every song!🎙🎶👊
So amazing that we have this performance captured forever on film by Martin Scorsese. The Band was one of the best bands ever and Van Morrison is a world treasure. Such great great stuff! Fine reaction Harri!
Oh wow you need to jump down the rabbit hole on the last waltz, such a fantastic concert, thanksgiving day 1976, arguably the best of all time, besides the band they were very many notable musicians, check out “The Weight” from the last waltz, one of my all-time favorites, there was not one single bad song in this whole concert, they were all great! I believe the whole concert is available on RUclips, at least it used to be. Van Morrison had terrible stage fright then, I don’t know about now but back then he did he didn’t even want to come out, the original Drop the Mic performance!,haha!😊
Van wasn't bending over, he was doing high kicks! He was reluctant to even come on stage, but with this magnificent performance he immediately stole the show (at least until Dylan came on) and breathed new life into his career.
Van the Man a Great Songwriter and Performer ❤ On the Recording of the Last Walz there are 3 Recording of Caravan due to his Perfectionist! A cord from a 🎸 too late or a drum beat too late. He's a Perfectionist in the Studio Too👍🎼🎵🎶🎹🎸🎷🥁💯
His recording career spans nearly seven decades. Van Morrison is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist. He can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had tons of hits such as "It Stoned Me", "Have I Told You Lately", "Crazy Love", "Jackie Wilson Said", "Days Like This", "Someone Like You" etc.
You going to watch the whole film Harri? So worth it. Can I attach a link to a live gig in Belfast in 79? He was incredible. Let me know and will gladly attach. Your ears and soul deserve it! Love, Dawn x
Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield... The Bands farewell concert was a pretty big deal... FYI, Van Morrison's original band in the 60s, "Them", were Irish R&B all the way.
@@buckchile614 Also like the Emmy Lou contribution they weren't in the concert. Recorded seperatly in studio for side 4. The hang-over part of the Last Waltz. The prayer.
so much respect between the musician that time , ' let it flow , i join into ... np ... just Love to music and the Love for living sprayed out to the audience and the world .
Terrific performance! Van does leave it all on stage, doesn't he? I've gotta suggest you listen to the full Moondance album. It's just chock-full of musical gems.
Those Robbie Robertson riffs that begin at about 5:00 is what makes this recording so special to me. This is what the Last Waltz was about -- inviting a bunch of great artists to be a part of The Band for one night.
saw him at Hoffhiens pavilion back in 78. the pa system quite and he kept singing, belting out the song and it was still🔥! it was during caravan. when they got it working again they played the song again! louder! priceless ✌🤘
IMO one of the all time great live performances. Check out: listen to the lion (on the too late to stop now album),Summertime in England (from Common One) and You don't push the river ( from Veedon Fleece).
You should really watch the film The Last Waltz. Martin Scorsese did one of his fabulous creations. So you still haven't seen Muddy Waters? It was their final concert. The Band. Find the DVD and give yourself a real treat. There was so much incredible music in that era of 60s and 70s and I was there. There is also an incredible documentary of George Harrison. He was always my favorite Beatles. And the voices connected in the Traveling Wilburys will have you jumping for joy. I love what you do and I'm so glad that I stumbled across your RUclips channel. Another unique voice and performer in that time period was Joe Cocker. You would love his Raw voice. So many others and I have so much vinyl!
Another fine reaction. This performance from this legendary concert is wonderful, but I like the one from his "It's Too Late to Stop Now" concert is even better. That was with is band The Caledonia Orchestra, including a string section, and it'll blow you away.
Two of my mother's favorite artists van Morrison and the band. I remember hearing that Eric Clapton wanted to join the band and when asked about it the reply was why would we need a Clapton when we have a Robbie Robertson...
Eric Clapton, Paul Butterfield, Ronnie Hawkins, Staple Singers, Emmylou Harris also performed. Then after the show there was a multi hour jam and others including Stephen Stills took part. Keep on looking around as it is all available.
Thank you for your great reaction Harri. I'm going to keep slipping in performances from The Last Waltz. I wish I can share the movie sadly RUclips won't let me. You can rent it right on RUclips. It's worth it. Great concert and incredible personal footage as Matin Scorsese interviewed each member. I promise you'll LOVE it. Peace and Music 🎶✌️🎵
That's called a mic drop, at the end:). Van Morrison is a cantankerous so and so but he stole the show that night amoungst elites. Astral Weeks is one of the all time great albums that grows and grows upon you after each listen.
In Haunts of Ancient Peace and Into The Mystic are a couple of my favorite Van Morrison songs. I'd love to catch your reaction to either or both. Thanks for this as well -
Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Bobby Charles, Neil Diamond, Ringo Starr, Ron Wood, Paul Butterfield joined the Band on stage for the last waltz.
Van had a hard time on stage. He's always just wanted to get in and out. I've heard he's even performed with his back to the audience. Any which way,he's unbelievably talented man. Still sounds this good @ 79. I've always had a huge crush on him 😊❤
Other people who turned out for The Last Waltz that you didn't list: Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Paul Butterfield, Ronnie Hawkins (the Band started their career backing him), Dr. John... that is possibly still not a complete list. Speaking of Dr. John, watch "Such a Night." It's a jam.
It truly was the Band's concert and time of playing together. They wanted as many of their friends to come help them out as possible. The Band totally split up after this concert.
Well put. Couldn't agree more!
Exactly his voice is like a musical instrument so expressive and emotive! Like you said he channels the feeling of the song like no one else can!
Like he's on a different Wavelength...
Same with Joe Cocker.
I think he channels god, no magic.
Martin Scorsese made a documentary about what was to be The Bands Last concert. There were more than a dozen musical artists who performed with The Band at this concert.
Van was high af for that performance. Love those little kicks.
Yes Sir, that's Van the Man, Celtic Soul at its best!
True Harri. Gave it all! Try "Jackie Wilson Said" for some honoring of old soul roots in Van's own way. Thanks!
"Van the MAN" indeed. The greatest performance from probably the greatest concert.
One of the finest live rock performances in my opinion!
I don’t think anything can plausibly be said to be better! This really is as good as it gets!
Man I love me some Van Morrison
Van Morrison is awesome. My favorite part is when he just walks off stage leaving the band playing. They had to figure out how to end. lol...
You need to watch the whole concert Harri.
Oh, thanks so much for checking this one out. One of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of The Last Waltz!
"These Dreams of You" is one of my favorites, along with "Into the Mystic".
Love Van Morrison!! Thank you!
This is an example of being born to be a soul singer❤
#vantheman
Van the Man. Plays multi instruments
Guitar
Sax......harmonica. He gets better with age. Best singer IMHO
"Into the Mystic" will always be my favourite.🤗🤗
Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. Great choice. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Mary I was hoping you'd love some Van.
Cheers my Canadian friend 🇨🇦🇺🇲🥂🎵💜🎶
@@missblondie2393 Hi miss blondie. You know me so well. The "live" version, so wonderful. 😊🤗👍✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸🎶
I'm posting as a retired Canadian living in Khon Kaen, Thailand, and a 52 year Van fan, too many excellent songs for a favourite but one I play frequently is a concert performance (11:29) of "And the Healing has Begun"
Yeah the guys in the band were loving this performance they had smiles on their face the whole way through
You have to see The Band perform The Weight with The Stapes from that gig. It's mind-blowingly awesome
It's sort of wild how Van's stage fright has dominated his career. If I remember, he wasn't even at the venue when he was supposed to start and they basically had to shove him out there.
Van Morrison is the man! Never has seen him sing with out emotion! One of the best!! Still performing!!❤️
Love Van Morrison always thought he had a great voice
I saw him live in the 90s... best, most memorable concert of my life. What a catalogue!
Should we tell her?
So amazing that we have this performance captured forever on film by Martin Scorsese. The Band was one of the best bands ever and Van Morrison is a world treasure. Such great great stuff! Fine reaction Harri!
One of the greatest walk-offs in Rock and Roll history.
Van the Man! I remember seeing The Last Waltz at the movie theatre when it came out. Dang, Im old...
We're at the point where I feel old for buying the Last Waltz dvd from a store.
Growing old ain't for sissies, but it certainly beats the alternative. Be well my friend.
A great number from this movie is The Weight with the Staple Singers. Maybe the best version of this absolute classic ever recorded.
Yes, The Weight is the best & having the Staples Singers being part of this is just amazing 😻☮️🇨🇦💗
The greatest. Glad to see him appreciated
This performance is my go to when I need some happy!
TURN IT UP.........
This was the performance that put the crowd happy after some sad songs before this part.
Ohhhh yeah! Miss Blondie, you chose a good one from the prolific and very talented Van Morrison. Well done, Harri!
🎶⭐️🎵
Glad you liked this one

He was reluctant to even come on stage, but with this magnificent performance he immediately stole the show (at least until Dylan came on) and breathed new life into his career.
I think it was Van’s moment for sure even with the whose-who list of performers that evening what a stunning documentation of a musical place in time.
Van the Man a Great Songwriter and Performer ❤ On the Recording of the Last Walz there are 3 Recording of Caravan due to his Perfectionist! A cord from a 🎸 too late or a drum beat too late. He's a Perfectionist in the Studio Too👍🎼🎵🎶🎹🎸🎷🥁💯
Yes, he's very hard on his musicians, has been since he was with Them.
R.I.P Robbie Robertson. What a talent. What a great night of music.

Great minds Harri. 🥰

I think Harri will be in Heaven.
For music lovers, especially "The Last Waltz" is Spectacular
Van is the best. 10 different voices

I had the great fortune to see this man in person. He sounded every bit as good as he sounds in his recordings. An amazing performer!🌺✌️
My favorite all time concert!
It's a incredible concert I wish I could of been there.
One of my favorites
Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield... The Bands farewell concert was a pretty big deal... FYI, Van Morrison's original band in the 60s, "Them", were Irish R&B all the way.

Absolutely possessed! The human animal is just not capable of that kind of perfection and enthusiasm without some sort of otherworldly intervention!
Terrific performance! Van does leave it all on stage, doesn't he? I've gotta suggest you listen to the full Moondance album. It's just chock-full of musical gems.

When VAN gets into his zone he carries you into the next galaxie!! FAR OUT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Van is a great singer! Off stage he can be a handful (grumpy) according to a friend of mine, who knows Van.
That's called a mic drop, at the end:). Van Morrison is a cantankerous so and so but he stole the show that night amoungst elites. Astral Weeks is one of the all time great albums that grows and grows upon you after each listen.
The Last Waltz is an amazing movie directed by one of the best in the business..
INCREDIBLE Van The MAN
Crazy Love is my favorite of his. Best eras for music; 60's and 70's.
In Haunts of Ancient Peace and
Into The Mystic
are a couple of my favorite Van Morrison songs. I'd love to catch your reaction to either or both.
Thanks for this as well -
I just watched your reaction to the Weight with the Staple Singers and had to check. Happy days! You’ve hit the best song on that album.
Watch the movie, The Last Waltz.
Blue eyed soul
He was raised listening to his father's records of Mahalia Jackson and Leadbelly. He has deep roots in soul music.
Thank you Mr. Scorsese for capturing a masterful performance by Van and The Band. Thank you Harri for a great reaction. Turn it up! Little bit higher!
Amazing performance from Van and The Band. Loved your reaction.
Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Bobby Charles, Neil Diamond, Ringo Starr, Ron Wood, Paul Butterfield joined the Band on stage for the last waltz.
Great observations and comments Harri!
Van also performed Tura Lura Lura at the Last Waltz. It's hot.
12 people performed, including the 4 Staple Singers
Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins, The Staple Singers and i'm sure more just my most memorable.....
When is Someone? Harri gonna revue"Brown eyed Girl" First solo hit in the 60's ! Van at his best!

Cause if you don't do it, somebody else will.
This concert was the fair well concert for The Band. All their buds showed up. Levon Helm, the drummer for The Band, was dying of cancer.
The Last Waltz is amazing!
It truly was the Band's concert and time of playing together. They wanted as many of their friends to come help them out as possible. The Band totally split up after this concert.
Nobody can touch Van.
Yummmm, thank you Harri!
The band, were incredibly respected by other greats in the music industry!
You MUST watch The Last Waltz!❤🔥❤🔥
