2:03 That is a "mostly" accurate map of the Viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata although it doesn't have Tierra del Fuego and the atlantic south islands, also it doesn't have Equatorial Guinea that was administred from Buenos Aires
Hello!!!! I came here from r/imaginarymaps, and I thought this video was cool, keep up the work. And greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 ;) (Sorry for my English, I'm using the translator even though I know the basics)
This is the first time I've seen the Contestado War being mentioned in this type of video. Are you Brazilian by any chance? Great video, man, you've gained another subscriber.
2:52 I think this country would have been called just "República Oriental del/do Uruguay", or Republic East of the Uruguay in English, since all of Uruguay and Rio Grande, and most of Santa Catarina are east of it. Or maybe "Republic of the Uruguay and Rio Grande", the two major river basins of the region. I doubt Montevideo would be the [only] capital though. Maybe a new one would be built in the interior (more easily defendable from Argentina, Brazil, the British and the French) or they'd have multiple capitals, most likely Porto Alegre and Montevideo.
??? Delusional. Maybe the ones in Mesoamérica or in the Andes if we're very optimistic but in the other regions there was no civilization, just tribes so no. In any case, we would probably have a quality of life similar to the Southeastern Asian countries.
It would be great if you put the ''Argentine Confederation'' but if had won the Argentine civil wars, because Juan Manuel de Rosas had expansionist thoughts
Oh, I see what I did here, (If you are talking about Chile one) I should have written that they manage to conquer and then mantain lands claimed by Captaincy of Chile.
@@salvadorcaneva1889 I am Mapuche, and of pure ancestry, there are still quite a few Mapuches left. I rightly claim that my people were invaded and our lands and country were taken from us. As a Mapuche, I defend my identity.
Ranking countries formed in OTL's Brazil. 12) Celestial Monarchy of Brazil (What in the Heligoland-Zanzibar happened here?) 11) Kingdom of Brazil (Ew, a longer lasting United Kingdom!) 10) Republic of Brazil (Looks like OTL's Brazil but worse.) 9) Colony of Hanau-Indies (German Guiana.) 8) Republic of Antarctica (Looks like OTL's Brazil but worse and French-speaking.) 7) Sultanate of Guianga (An african nation outside of Africa.) 6) Republic of New Holland (An enlarged Suriname, which shouldn't even have a connection with the rest of the country realistically.) 5) Republic of Pernambuco (Looks like your average South American country.) 4) Amazon Rainforest International Reserve (Don't even know if this is cursed or blessed. Probably both. What happened to the people living there?) 3) Riograndense Republic (Looks like OTL Rio Grande do Sul. I'm questioning about the minorities here, especially since it was formed by literal Germans and Getúlio Vargas would have been born here.) 2) United States of Minas Gerais (No way that they would take over some provinces. Looks more or less like OTL's Brazil.) 1) United Republic of Uruguay (Looks like OTL's encompassing regions but a little better. Portunhol must be intense here.) Also I didn't know that you had a RUclips channel!
A South American mention!? Oh my God... Van-der-Broccoli you are amazing!
Yes, after all, the inspiration to make a video about South America was how it is often neglected in alternate histories.
2:28 CHILE MENTIONED RAAHHHHHH🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🦅🦅🦅🦅
😄😄😄
Really cool ideas, and cool design as always! 👍
2:03 should have been called “United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata”
Los dos son nombres oficiales de argentina actualmente
@@H56los Bro realmente conoces ese dato 💀💀
Criminally underrated

the vicerroyalty never had the patagonia
Ok? I mean, I know, the idea was "What if Argentina managed to keep/retake the lands claimed by Rio de la Plata?" so it must look simillar.

always great to see a new video of yours
It's very well done, I like that the alternative scenarios are based on historical events

No, I'm not. I was just looking for conflicts involving Brazil and I came across this one too.
Never ask why German was not spoken in Rio Grande do Sul until 1945
However, the immigrants stopped speaking their languages during the WW2 because of political persecution. It's literally the inverse, lol!
It is still spoken in some parts, but less than before ww2

Bravo
I live in Manaus, and a few days ago it was 36°C/96.8°F
The last one is the worst nightmare for half of South Americans, the fear that European powers, the USA, and China will put this plan into action.
(Non existing girlfriend) wake up van der brocoli uploaded!
NO WAY HE LITTERALY MENTIONED MY STATE AND EVEN MY COUNTRY-
(IM FROM MINAS GERAIS BRO-)
The perfect south america in my pov is the one that was never colonized, i can only imagine how it could be a much richer continent😢

Amezing!
Alternate countries of North America please
Patagonia never belonged to Spain or Chile, nor to its government. We were cruelly invaded in 1882.
