Great video! I did these mods to my th400 a couple years ago and it’s still going strong. Wish I had seen this video first, it would have made my life a little easier lol

Best way is to start with a th475. HD case. 6 clutch direct. Factory deep pan and STRAIGHT CUT GEARS = No thrust loads. Already can take the 34 element sprag with zero machining. Just rollerize the rear case(eliminate the 3 tang and 4 tang washers). Slap a transbrake in her, dual feed direct clutches and she will hold a 1000 hp without even trying

Mountains garage goes through that exact same thing. Makes it a beast with no effort just beat on her all day

So what if you don't want engine breaking in second gear? Just leave the band out? Anything else have to be done?

Hello friend, I saw your video and I would like to get a question right, I took my th400 transmission to be repaired but it did not make the third change, I already changed the governor, modular, converter, and it continues the same, now to your great experience what will be the problem for which Does the third change not make the transmission? please help

If you've done all that it sound like your fwd drum is not applying and could have a torn lip seal or overrun sprag not holding. It may be internal at that point. There are of course many variables like governor springs, governor itself, circuit valves for that gear and the above physical issues, even accumulator issue as well. Do what you can externally, then internally from the valve body or remove and inspect. You can aircheck with valve body off.

Hi, no 700 band can not be used in the 400. I was referencing how i dont use Kevlar bands in stock application...i just happen to have a 4l60e band handy in reference.
