I am glad that Tony finally got what he wanted so much. To be out of pain and to have back some dignity.
    Rest in peace Tony.
You put on one good bloody fight.

my god, such an emotional story. I'm so relieved he's at peace. I can't imagine how sad but relieved his family must feel as well.

I friend of mine was in the exact same position, he got paralyzed after a failed suicide attempt trying to hang himself, he was rescued in time and in result, put in a wheelchair... I'v been suicidal for over 6 years but i dont have the courage to take my life, im happy and blessed that when the time comes, i can hopefully do it myself.

Rip Tony Nickerson. He used social media. I wonder how many people, who have given their lives to abusing strangers on social media...........would have spoke to Him, the individual, in the Same manner had they known his condition. Or would you have opened your heart and spoke from there.....mattering Not if you were in agreement. I wish people could close their eyes and imagine a human in the words they are reading. I'm sorry your free will was kept from you Tony Nickerson and thank you and yours for sharing your story with the world.

What kind of a world is it in which we live, when a person cannot request euthanasia, but can take their own life?... but anyone who assists you is a "murderer," which yes, I s'pose they are, really. However, if you feel that your life is no longer worthwhile, why be forced to prolong it - AGAINST YOUR WILL- And yet, little Alfie Evans (23 months of age) - and before him Charlie Gard, (around 5 months ago), had their life support turned off; with the blessings of the courts of "Justice?" To my mind, they were executed; and all to save money!!! I repeat, what sort of a world are we living in, where such happenings take place? I myself had a stroke four and a half yrs ago and am now left in a wheelchair, with no left side action to speak of... well, my heart kept going anyway, at least. B4 that, I was a musician/vocalist. I always had a sort of belief in God, but I have to admit, he got the blame for my condition. In the end however, I prayed to him to make me better... and you know what? The instant I finished praying, I became totally at peace with myself - and thus it has remained ever since. I am not mobile at all, but at least, I am happy.

I am so glad that he has now gotten the wish that he so desperately wanted but was denied of. I hope he is finally at peace.
Thank you to all 7 states who have passed the death with dignity act (as of 2019), and to Washington DC, the Netherlands, Colombia, and New Zealand in which assisted suicide is legal.
People in pain, with terminal illnesses that they can take no more of, should have the right to die on their own terms instead of being kept alive against their own wishes because it is illegal for them to be prescribed the life ending medications that will finally allow them to be at peace.

It is crazy to me how a stroke can place you into something like that. I’ve had four strokes so far, but I usually just get mobility issues and numbness. I should consider it lucky that I was able to rehabilitate myself, but I hope that the next stroke I get isn’t anything like this experience.

Life can be just fucking CRUEL!!! WE ARE NOT TRULY FREE IF WE CANT EVEN HAVE THE CHOICE TO DIE!!!! I really resent them courts for both granting this poor man some dignity and RESPECT for his choices. And now I'm reading about assisted suicide being legal now? SERIOUSLY!!!!

Good job he left this world before March 2020, I suppose. Whichever way he may have died, it would've been a better way to die than from COVID-19.
