      The parents made many careless decisions- leaving the kids alone, leaving windows open, checking in every half hour or so. Could they not hire a member of the resort staff to babysit? It wasn’t just maddie in that room, her baby sister and (I think) brother were in there as well with the window open so it could have been much worse.

      @Abe Garfield
      Really?
      It seems likely to me, that the guilty culprit (of any *actual* act of death), was Gerry (I say *Gerry,* NOT "the father" - I think they were/are swingers) - because _Gerry,_ seems like the sort of person to have a very short temper on him.
      He's shown this when the issue of blood being found in the apartment was broached during an interview.
      What about the apparent traces of blood found in the holiday apartment?
      Whilst _of course_ the origins of its detection could have arisen from anywhere, the theory _I_ have, is that Madeleine (being an energetic 3 year old) was "playing up", and Gerry became weary at her behaviour, striking her [just a _bit_ too hard/too hastily], and she didn't wake up again.
      After he "checked" on Madeleine, Shawn and Amelie, he - with his naturally psychopathic disposition considering the profession he works in - went back to Kate and the Tapas Seven - with none of them any the wiser, and he not (under said psychopathy) possessing the attributes of a guilty conscience, carried on as if nothing had happened, until Kate ""discovered"" Madeleine "missing".

      And to hear the so called expert claim the flat was contaminated by up to 20 people really?? why was there no D.N.A on the very bed maddie was said to have been taken from??? and why gerry had to hand over a 3 week old pillow from back home but was still able to get DNA from it when he went home??

I think they were in the wwong for not totally supervising the children.. and wouldn't do it myself.. but.. they are two intelligent educated people so of course they looked at how they could get maximum coverage. Peoole less versed wouldn't be able to do that. Its not embarrassing.. its them doing what they could and I don't condemn them for that. If it was your child and you found a way wouldn't you pursue it? Had she been found it could lead to finding out what happened to other lost children. In a "straight" country???? They did NOT go out drinking with friends.. They went to dinner, could see the room right across the street, and everyone checked on the kids every 15 mins. Parents who admit they made a dreadful mistake do not need any more cruelty thrown at them. While you may not have left kids alone as they did, how many other things have you and all of us done with our kids that in hindsight were absolutely poor judgement? Watch the full 60 Minutes Australia documentary about this case and learn something before posting. According to German prosecutors involved in the case, Madeline is dead, and they have the murderer in custody in Germany.

All they have done is milk money from her disappearance, they paid their mortgage of their house for goodness sake, travelled the world. Written a book & sue papers that dare tell the truth. It sickens me, the money they have made, if they weren’t going to use that money to find their child, then use it to help other parents to find their child that has gone missing who hadn’t left their child alone. It beggars belief that they are still keeping themselves in the limelight. Time for people to stop funding them, & see them for what they are.
