@@jessicatriana Jessica, I am buying one for my son Christmas. I am looking at the GAOMON PD2200 on sale for $369 (Amazon). Would you recommend that over some of the other similar priced competitors (2020 HUION KAMVAS 22 or XP Pen Artist 22 Pro)? Thank you so much for your time.
Some drawing tablets you can plug into an Android phone or tablet. Also some screen tablets do not need an external power source and rely on power from the computer
True! I personally never used an Android tablet to draw so I couldn't give my perspective on that. And you're right, should've said *some* screen tablets. The one I owned needed to be plugged into a power source, so I found it to be a bit inconvenient. Thanks for adding that!
This video was so helpful, informative, clear, and concise. I was really confused and overwhelmed when I got here, and now I know exactly what I want. Thank you so much!
@@jessicatriana I actually was finally convinced to get a tablet by your video. I wanted to be mobile, but also be able to do student/office work. Art was an added luxury so I wasnt too hung up on getting a Wacom or super expensive drawing display. And then my laptop died haha.
@@danielg.2437 oh noooo. I also bought the iPad because my computer was very slow so I didn’t really use it 😅 if you don’t need any specific software it’s a good replacement!
I love the convenience of the ipad but I hope they continue to improve the apple pencil. Even with the rubber grip that I put, it still doesn't feel as nice as my cintiq pen. Even the tip feels weird. I always used felt nibs with my wacom.
Thank you for this, I really need it. I really have no idea about of what, how, or how much to purchase to create digital arts. This is very helpful ❤️🤩❤️ thank you so much❤️❤️
Hi! In 2015 I bought a Wacom draw tablet, the basics of the basics, but i never got used to it, because it’s difficult for me to look at the screen while drawing on it. I want to explore the world of digital art better but I don't know if I should buy a display tablet or an iPad ... I have the money for both, but the choice is difficult because I highly value the portability of the iPad (and the procreate seems to be wonderful) but the drawing table has a larger screen. And to be honest I'm afraid to invest in a drawing table and not use it much because I spend a lot of time at school (I have a desktop), and with ipad I can take it to school. I really don't know, what do you recommend? c:
For me the portability of the iPad was a HUGE improvement. I started drawing a lot more because it’s really easy to “start”. I have an 11” iPad and the screen size is fine for me, but if you’re worried you can also go to the store and see the 12.9” iPad first hand. For me portability > screen size but it depends on what you value most 😁
@@jessicatriana Thank you to answer! I think I will choose the iPad because of portability. So I can always take it to school and use it more. And today I went to a store and saw the size, I think 11 should fit perfectly, because for more 1.9 inches you pay 200€ (here were I live) :v
They all work well with Procreate, but the cheaper ones will allow less layers. If you work with big files this might be a big deal but if you don’t usually have a lot of layers or if your files are small (like for social media) then I don’t think it’s a big deal. You can check the Procreate FAQ page to know which models they support. If budget is no issue then the Air and the Pro are the best, but if those are too expensive then the other ones work well too! You might just have a few less layers to work with. Honestly the iPad Pro from the video is my first iPad ever so I don’t have a lot of experience with other models 😁
@@jessicatriana Hi! Thanks for responding, I appreciate your insights on ipad models. I'm having an ipad mini (1st gen) and I realized something tho that older models cannot update lastest OS and I drawing apps may tend to get delays or seldomly crash when used. So this may be a downside of older models. Anyway, thanks again! I might consider having drawing pen tablet 😁👍
@@jessicatriana Hey BTW, I'm just choosing my first drawing tablet right now... (My training is just with the paint that needs to cleaned up) I'm looking for around $200, and I narrowed it down to the Huion Kamvas 13 released this year. BUT THEN on my way to purchase it I saw the older Kamvas PRO 13 available for the same price.... So now I'm stuck comparing specs on Amazon, and weirdly can't find any videos on YT comparing the Kamvas Pro 13 and thee Kamvas 13 (2020). I wonder if you have any suggestion that could break this tie for me? The main differences seem to be 🌀 anti-glare glass vs an anti-glare film (IDK if you can feel any difference) 🌀 a touch bar for zooming vs extra buttons, 🌀 and differences in hardware quality vs pen software -- I've heard the Pro had wobbly lines when drawing slow, which the Kamvas 13 fixed but that it's not sensitive enough and will miss light strokes sometimes... Basically each new thing I can find keep me on the fence.
hello, I'm thinking about buying a graphic display tablet or an iPad.. I'm going to start to study at art school in September, and obviously, there is going to be a lot animation and illustration and all, so at this point I think the graphic display tablet is the right choice but also, I would like it to be easily portable, because of traveling and just to be able to take it and draw anywhere... what do you think that would be the best? 😅
I think it depends on the software you need! For illustration the iPad is all you need but animation might me more tricky because Procreate and FlipaClip are not very complex. Clio Studio Paint is better for animation but I also have one more tip: if you own a MacBook you can use the app “Sidecar” and that’ll turn your iPad into an external monitor so you can draw on the iPad using software from your computer 😁 If you don’t own a MacBook and you need to use computer software the iPad might not be enough for you 😕

Yes I’ve used Sidecar and it’s surprisingly fast for a wireless connection! The only thing that doesn’t work super well are the gestures, but if those are desktop apps you’ll need the keyboard anyway to use shortcuts so I don’t think this will be an issue for you :) If you know anyone with an iPad I recommend asking to try it out with your Mac so you can get a feel of how it’s used. But I think it’s a good alternative 👌
