Worst company to work with. I used to bare all of the rules from TCS, but this work from office is killing me. I need to travel 70 kms daily and wasting 5 hrs in travelling. 5 hrs going totally unproductive. Hats off to TCS for bringing in these pathetic rules and asking employees to resign indirectly.

I can refer you to a company if you want. It's in Bengaluru and It's more women friendly and does not force people to work from office and also provides can if you must visit. Work is similar and Pay is similar to TCS but no variable. You also get to stock options as part of your pay if you choose to. Reply if you are interested.

Issue is if you are sent to customer location, they have to pay you more. One thing clear is that Indians are labours to foreign companies and they pay very less to you than they pay to their own citizens. And also those foreign companies don't care about your job losses. But if they recruit their own citizens for example Europe, the employers should give huge amount as social security. In case of Indian labours, they save lots of money in this case.

Man, I was working in Tata Technologies Pune with 35k salary. Just the PGs suck 7k out from you. Affording 1bhk with that peanut salary is unimaginable. Now, I have joined a state government job in 2023 and earning less than 30k but still able to save 15k-20k pm in my nearby district/town.

Already Working from remote is proven during the pandemic, and the utilization rate was 130 %. successfully completed several projects in time. Company can Utilize the hours spent on road coming to office.
I am fine with it, not receiving next salary hike for 1 appraisal cycle (which has an upper bound of 10% for most people) and/or not getting variable pay (if under 10%) is actually a good deal against having to shift to a city where more than 10-15% goes towards rent and the traffic hassle juices out everyone. It gets better as much customizable it is. It can be perceived as a tailor-made solution where employee chooses the office percentage from 10% to 100% with reduction in salary from 20% to 0% as per the choice they make.
Talking about layoffs, this could be just one of the excuse, had they avoided all layoffs if there was no COVID and WFH following it? It can't be guaranteed so for employees no point of getting scared of the problem that's yet to come into existence. Be noted that first cost cutting step TCS taken in 2022 by eliminating anniversary appraisal. Which means emploees had to wait for 2 years for 1st increment and now TCS is linking payouts and increments with RTO again an intentional step to harass employees so that they can leave organization. It's not about productivity it's about economy and excess availability of IT resources. If employees work from a village/small town, they will spend little and less tax will be collected, the amount invested by coporate and rich people on metro and other dependent sectors will have less income. Since companies get a replacement easily in India they are less bothered about if some employees leave. If some employees are really needed they give those employees what they need. Managers follow thier bosses directions, they won't fight for employees and loose thier job/ good will/ handsome compensations.

That's true... I am 38kms away from office and travel 80 kms a day will take my 4 hrs Everytime... Traveling in a conjusted traffic is a hell.. On top of we need to work more than general work hours.. It's nothing but no time for personal and family. Bonus is your health ruins because of all these... Once you are 50 your body will not allow you to all these things and you end up in give up stage.
If TCS really wants people to stop working from home just ask their employees to return their laptop and use desktops provided in office. Some US MNCs are enforcing hybrid model in Indian offices , but are v cautious asking people to come to their US offices. Indian metros are so much more polluted and require longer distance of travel on crowded roads and rail metros
In a highly populated country like India wfh makes more sense. 1) you will spent less time in travelling. 2) less money in travelling 3) can focus on gym/yoga for mental piece. Hybrid also works but calling 5 days does not makes sense.

1. Company thinks, It's employees time spent on travelling not ours, anyway they agreed to work for us 9+ hours 2. Govt will think, that means less tax from havily taxed petrol, less income to automotive industry 3. As you mentioned in the video, it has already been proved that the work can be delivered without any hinderances working from wherever the resources are located. I saw some network issues with some resources working remotely when having teams meeting that too in a screen share mode. There were some lags and disconnection in between the meetings. Other than this, I don't think it is such a big issue. The choice should be given to the employees to work either from home or office or hybrid.
Quarterly bonus is 75000 for three months. Monthly rent in Bangalore is 25000. Anyway the quarterly bonus is going for rent. Why not just work from hometown instead of paying rent in big city? They can't touch other components in the salary as they're contractually binding.
The word penalize is quite funny because from last 1 year junior employees are getting 100% variable pay whereas higher grade employees get only certain % of Variable pay under the name of unit Performance with minimum of 25% variable pay paid.. also annual increments goes in Variable Pay component hence at the end the employees ends up with 1-2 % increment as there is deduction in variable pay every quarter .. If this policy of linking Variable pay to RTO compliance needs to be implemented then it should be fairly implemented and at end of quarter declaring 100% to junior employees will nullify the effect .. Orelse it clearly states that only senior members are expected to come 5 days to office and junior members are given the benefits...
Come to metro cities, travel for 4 hours, spend more money on rental, food, and clothes, spend more on health care, pay more school fees for children, take home loan and pay loan for 20 year, and Save less. No other solution than migrating to other countries....

Guys, there is a separate angle to this. If people go to office they will pay for (1) parking lot (2) canteen (3) children creche (4) snacks cigarettes (5) rentals. I understand what you are trying to convey, but if we look at it other way, people not in metro cities or working from home will eventually spend their savings in ordering food, going out, travelling, real estate investment etc. As of today, the power of control is centralized with few cities, with WFH model, it could be decentralised in the longer run and those cities can grow, giving more opportunities to the local people and less people from lower class will have to stay very far away from their homes. While, I can see why certain group might have an issue with losing power, but in longer run it would be more beneficial for the nation building.
Its other way round w.r.t the variable pay, most of the % of the increment goes in the quarterly variable pay component.. and end of the quarter huge % of this Quarterly variable pay is deducted under unit Performance reasons .. hence now planned at the next month of the quarter where one used to get lumsum amount is now pennies ... Over n above the RTO policy will ensure that 0 variable pay to employees as though employee comes 85% to office the variable pay may get deducted saying unit Performance..

I was not aware of angle of rent! It's very important point. Apart from that, I think office is the best place to work because it's intended to work. Home is not intended to work. But as you have mentioned in few cases, it's the other way round!
The recent high attrition rate in TCS is because of forcing the employees to WFO. The IT sector is not doing well hence the employees do not have a choice other than bidding to this rule. Once the market starts doing well, all the IT companies will start poaching employees by providing WFH options. Then it’s difficult for companies like TCS to retain employees or talents.

The companies may ask employees to work for 6 days instead of 5 days in future. Narayan Murthiji has already said youth should work for 70 hours per week.
WFO must purely depend based on the projects needs where the entire team resides in a particular location. Else WFH is better, employees will be a getting to save some money and indeed even companies saves some bucks for cabs, electricity, water, shift allowance etc. Yet it all depends on the company and the project needs purely.
Any one can explain it clearly? Do we need to maintain overall atleast 60% attendance of days for a quarter or 60% attendance for hours in a quarter?. TCS pays peanuts as a salary , mostly people do courses and starts leaving TCS. Also most of the TCS management knows only one thing macro management , they don't have to learn any new things. When people are doing WFH they don't have any work. This policy is to satisfy their ego rather then any business benefit, when employee wfh productivity and efficiency is really improved, but these old guys won't understand.

I am fine with it, not receiving next salary hike for 1 appraisal cycle (which has an upper bound of 10% for most people) and/or not getting variable pay (if under 10%) is actually a good deal against having to shift to a city where more than 10-15% goes towards rent and the traffic hassle juices out everyone. It gets better as much customizable it is. It can be perceived as a tailor-made solution where employee chooses the office percentage from 10% to 100% with reduction in salary from 20% to 0% as per the choice they make.
I am happy with the lower salary as long as they don't start firing based on wfo percentage (specially in current recessionary time)

Talking about layoffs, this could be just one of the excuse, had they avoided all layoffs if there was no COVID and WFH following it? Which means emploees had to wait for 2 years for 1st increment and now TCS is linking payouts and increments with RTO again an intentional step to harass employees so that they can leave organization. Average mindset of some employers or companies. They think that if we opt for WFH, we are getting more benefits like more concentration on personally developing our skills! My question is simple, though upskilling myself, did I make any delay in project completion or extended deadline saying so and so reasons? No. Then why your mindset is like that? Be clear about one thing, we all are working for MONEY, for that we are doing work given irrespective of location or place where we do that, either office or home. Change your mindset or employee will. Give respect to employees. Another open question to all employers, you think that linking VP or other pay with respect to reporting office means, why don't you compensate employees who sacrifice their time to reach the office which is located very long for local employees around? Why do we waste our time travelling to your office located at amazon forest (very long)?
It's not about productivity it's about economy and excess availability of IT resources. If employees work from a village/small town, they will spend little and less tax will be collected, the amount invested by coporate and rich people on metro and other dependent sectors will have less income. Since companies get a replacement easily in India they are less bothered about if some employees leave. If some employees are really needed they give those employees what they need. Managers follow thier bosses directions, they won't fight for employees and loose thier job/ good will/ handsome compensations.

That's true... I am 38kms away from office and travel 80 kms a day will take my 4 hrs Everytime... Traveling in a conjusted traffic is a hell.. On top of we need to work more than general work hours.. It's nothing but no time for personal and family. Bonus is your health ruins because of all these... Once you are 50 your body will not allow you to all these things and you end up in give up stage.

If TCS really wants people to stop working from home just ask their employees to return their laptop and use desktops provided in office. Some US MNCs are enforcing hybrid model in Indian offices , but are v cautious asking people to come to their US offices. Indian metros are so much more polluted and require longer distance of travel on crowded roads and rail metros

As you mentioned in the video, it has already been proved that the work can be delivered without any hinderances working from wherever the resources are located. I saw some network issues with some resources working remotely when having teams meeting that too in a screen share mode. There were some lags and disconnection in between the meetings. Other than this, I don't think it is such a big issue. The choice should be given to the employees to work either from home or office or hybrid.

Quarterly bonus is 75000 for three months. Monthly rent in Bangalore is 25000. Anyway the quarterly bonus is going for rent. Why not just work from hometown instead of paying rent in big city? They can't touch other components in the salary as they're contractually binding.

The word penalize is quite funny because from last 1 year junior employees are getting 100% variable pay whereas higher grade employees get only certain % of Variable pay under the name of unit Performance with minimum of 25% variable pay paid.. also annual increments goes in Variable Pay component hence at the end the employees ends up with 1-2 % increment as there is deduction in variable pay every quarter ..
If this policy of linking Variable pay to RTO compliance needs to be implemented then it should be fairly implemented and at end of quarter declaring 100% to junior employees will nullify the effect .. Orelse it clearly states that only senior members are expected to come 5 days to office and junior members are given the benefits...
Come to metro cities, travel for 4 hours, spend more money on rental, food, and clothes, spend more on health care, pay more school fees for children, take home loan and pay loan for 20 year, and Save less. No other solution than migrating to other countries....

As of today, the power of control is centralized with few cities, with WFH model, it could be decentralised in the longer run and those cities can grow, giving more opportunities to the local people and less people from lower class will have to stay very far away from their homes.

Its other way round w.r.t the variable pay, most of the % of the increment goes in the quarterly variable pay component.. and end of the quarter huge % of this Quarterly variable pay is deducted under unit Performance reasons .. hence now planned at the next month of the quarter where one used to get lumsum amount is now pennies ... Over n above the RTO policy will ensure that 0 variable pay to employees as though employee comes 85% to office the variable pay may get deducted saying unit Performance..

The recent high attrition rate in TCS is because of forcing the employees to WFO.
The IT sector is not doing well hence the employees do not have a choice other than bidding to this rule.
Once the market starts doing well, all the IT companies will start poaching employees by providing WFH options. Then it’s difficult for companies like TCS to retain employees or talents.
