  • A quick and brief look at a very unusual machine I spotted at the 2019 Telford Classic Dirt Bike Show. This is Belgian racer Norbert Van Dun's very unique twin cylinder Maico, now whether Norbert actually built the bike I'm unsure but it is certainly a very rare machine.

Just managed to speak to Norbert who designed and built this wonderful little bike and it is a great little story so hopefully I will do an updated version of this video in the future.

I know girls in black heels with nice legs rarely walk among motocross bikes. See if you can't get a few answers there too Chris and make it a regular!

The size of the cones on the exhaust are smaller, 125 or less per cylinder mayhap.

A company called Folan built a Husqvarna CR500 based twin using two CR500 barrels/cranks and a standard gear box for sidecar MX use this looks along the same lines.

People often put big engines in motocross bike for Hill climbs and then elongate the Swinging Arm,possibly something to do with that or made out of bits left around a motorcycle garage

Don’t understand why the air box when it has foam filters
Also of all the places to mount the rear shock reservoir, why mount it right over the exhaust ?

The nuts holding on the head are tapped almost looking like they were used for a shroud on a fan cooled snowmobile.

If I remember correctly these bikes fired simultaneously , both pistons rising and falling together , I think Maico made them in very small numbers.

Yeah those CNC side cases tell part of the story in dealing with the snowmobile clutch/torque converter

Must be why it has a gear lever.

First mud puddle it hit's will foul out the air filters and if water hits them then your talking instant seizure, not a good design rear fender/mud guard for the air intake system. Dust and or sand would do the same to this as far as seizing it eventually but water will do it instantly especially if hot.

Looks like 250.cc. Probably faster top end speed. Than the single.
