I remember this. I was watching Spider-Man on Fox Kids at my Uncle’s house when it hit an ad-break then this trailer came on and blew me away to the point where I practically annoyed everyone in my family about Metroid Fusion and got it for Christmas 2002… I was 9 and thus began my journey into Metroid.
I never saw it either. Probably why Metroid games never got good sales because it was never marketed well. It sad because this commercial goes hard. My dad took us to Curcuit City once and I just happened to have enough money in my pocket to purchase it. It was a good time because I recently broke my wrist and couldn't participate in PE so I just sat in the bleachers and played the hell out of this game.
So, I KNEW about Metroid at that point in my childhood, but it never had my attention. This commercial, THIS COMMERCIAL... got my attention. Metroid Fusion is one of my favorite games of all time, and I still break out my GBA every now and then and replay it.
I love how cheap yet detailed the Fusion suit is in this. Its my favorite next to Dread's suit design, and its a shame more people haven't done cosplays of it.
I'm so glad stuff like this can actually look this good even 20 years later. It looks like it was produced in the last 10 years and not upscaled or anything like that for a commercial from the 2000s

@@sion8 honestly, fusion? it really does need something. There is, on my estimation, probably around 3 hours of unskippable dialogue in the game. You cannot progress to the next area wothout passing through a navigation room, at which point the doors are locked and you can't get out until you've been thoroughly navigated by Adam. This creates so much stopping and starting. Ok, this is a byproduct of story, right? First metroid with dialogue. Just make it skippable. Summarise in short paragraphs, please just make it faster. Simply starting a new save file on metroid fusion means you're going to have to sit, constantly tapping A, through like 10/15 minutes of unskippable cutscene. Not that fun on your 2nd playthrough, torture on your 5th. The game is amazing and i love it, but i would give anything for a mod or remaster/remake that could make it faster.
Back when we had that ominous voice hyping up our game ads. Now we have a spokesperson representing every major game that gets released, and every damn one of them has that creepy ass corporate smile with no soul eyes. Everyone's always smiling while everything's burning around them.

It’s funny how this and the trailer for Prime are the only bits of live action Metroid media with power suits of some kind to ever be released. We need a live action R rated Metroid movie
That commercial brings back memories. That makes me ask who’s the blue person? And is Samus possessed? Got a love the mysteries before Internet was a thing.
The blue person is Samus and the Samus in the Varia Suit is an evil clone of her made after the X Parasite infected the outer shell of her suit. Fusion is probably one of the most out their games in the series besides Dread and I love it.
It would've been killer If Nintendo upscaled the OG prime live action commercial and mixed in with new game play and used it as the remastered release trailer. I seriously miss commercials like these for any game.

Fusion suit is awesome but Dreads base suit has to be my least favourite. The neck of the helmet is pencil thin. Looks demented.

My fav is either Echoes Dark Suit or Samus Returns Gravity Suit but the Fusion suit is so good, especially when Mercury Steam put their touches on it.

Mercury Steam was supposedly developing the Metroid Fusion remake, before changing plans to later develop Metroid Dread, so we may see that one day
