One of my all-time Cowboy Heroes, to this day I still watch reruns when they come up on RUclips, or other networks that carry the old western movies, as a kid growing up that was my favorite type movie to go see. Everything Audie Murphy did, Randolph Scott, The Lone Ranger, hop along Cassidy, Roy Rogers, they were all great TV shows and movies for us kids. When there was a double feature with 10 cartoons on Saturday, I had to come up with 25 cents, and sometimes my brother may arrest in peace myself and maybe one other friend we would see the entire program twice, that was a long time to sit in a movie theater. Two full length movies 10 sometimes 25 cartoons. The good old days, when they had Matrix walking around with a flashlight making sure you didn't put your feet, up on the seat in front of you or talking while a movie was playing. Good old days missed. This September I will be 79 years old, it seems like yesterday all over this happened. I also remember just before that period of time when I live with my grandparents in Bay St Louis Mississippi, we had two movie theaters the one that I frequent the most, was $0.10, and what we thought at the time the fancy one was called the star that was $0.25. How times have changed.
Age 16, lost his mother, a tragedy. But did the honorable thing. Joined the service to earn money for his siblings. Then performed his military duties to the utmost. A very rare American who was and is a paragon of what America represents. We miss this great gentleman today and always will.
Audie was such a Beautiful human being in Every sense of the word. As a child i just Loved him in films, he was one of my favorite actors, I remember that Awful day it came on the news that he had been killed in a plane crash. It was a Terrible shock. R. I.P. Audie, You will Never Ever be forgotten, You are a True Legend that will live on forevermore. Much Love to his Family from Dublin.Ireland. XXXXX
Always great to see a story concerning Audie Murphy. I do cringe when I hear "Congressional Medal of Honor". It is the Medal of Honor that is awarded by congress.
Audie Murphy was a Master Mason and a Scottish Rite 33rd degree Mason. A real gentleman and helped fund the Scottish Rite hospitals in Dallas. You can see his medal and movie memories at the Scottish Rite Temple in Dallas. I real hero and a great gentleman. Excellent actor as well as a horse lover.
HERO & COWBOY AUDIE MURPHY, LOVES & BREEDS RACING & WORKING QUARTER HORSES. WORLD WAR 2 MOST DECORATED SOLDIER. HES ONE OF MY FAVORITE HEROES. GOD BLESS HIM.
Thanks for the upload. This was so interesting and Audie has such presence and knowledge of the subject. You can tell he really loves talking about his horses and their qualities. He was such a special person in all that he did. He is sorely missed.

Thanks for posting this, great to see it, stumbled on it by chance.... Audie Murphy's love for these beautiful horses encouraged me to my love for horses since childhood.... I love Audie's soft smooth speaking style.... He was a very humble young man who served his country with strength of courage, honour, dignity and determination to help bring freedom to others in foreign countries.... My gosh that really tells lot about Audie Murphy's true self, a very dignified and humble man.... REST IN PEACE AUDIE MURPHY YOU PLAYED YOUR PART IN LIFE SO WELL.
Thanks for the comment! Audie was a true one of a kind American, the likes of which we will never see again! Again, thanks for your comment. If you haven't signed the Presidential Medal of Freedom Petition (I am the sponsor) for Audie, I would appreciate it. It is in the final stages and will soon be presented to the White House. Just click the link in the video description to sign. Thanks again!
John, I guess it would depend on the definition of orphan. Since Audie was in fact a minor at the time of his mother's passing, I guess he could be deemed an orphan as well. If you haven't signed the petition, please do so. If you have....thanks! I have new videos posted detailing names of all the VIP's who have endorsed it. Just check my other videos and you will see the videos there. General Officers, Medal of Honor recipients, politicians, celebrities etc. Thanks again!
The "Story" is that Quarter Horses got the name for being the fastest horse ever bred to run 1/4 of a mile, or words to that effect. Ergo "Quarter Horse" They can also stop in a heart beat from a flat out run, turn on a Dime & give you a Nickel as change. I've worked with many different breeds of Horses but, all around, it's hard to top The American Quarter Horse. There are many breeds that can do one or two things better than the Quarter Horse, but very very few that can do "all things" as well as the Quarter Horse can. They are what I call "A Doing Horse". You name it and he'll come pretty damned close to doing it.
You are correct,18 is of course deemed adulthood. Our Hero had to grow up fast in all he endured.I proudly signed the petition,am I limited to a single signing?thanks for all you contributions to Audie/s memory.john.
Great horse!! Reining ( or dry routine) is a bit different now. They stop the horses and give them time to settle before going into a spin. Also the horses necks are level with the topline to give them more balance. Wonderful video though!
As a young person I think I saw every movie Mr. Murphy ever made. Some of his first films weren't all about great acting but I always said when you see a movie of a fictitious Gun-fighter who's more believable, John Wayne or man who actually killed a couple of hundred enemy soldiers?!
Audie lied about his age he was 17. Won the Congressional Medal of Honor at 19 5 months short of his with Birthday. Raw recruit at enlistment battlefield commissioned to First Lieutenant in less than 3 years. 33 medals awarded by ARMY INCLUDING CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR. 5 Medals their highest awarded by France and Belgium. Even paid for 2 weeks in France do they could award then publicly st the Invalides. Napoleon's Tomb. God Bless You Audie Murphy. We'll never see his like again
Audie was introduced here as an orphan?I am aware his dad walked out on his family but Audie was with his mum until about age 16 when she sadly passed away. His siblings were orphaned for a while until he made some money during ww2,so I don/t believe Audie himself was orphaned.
Since he was a minor at 16 when his mom died and prior to that his dad abandoned he and his family, he was considered an orphan. A hero never to be forgotten...

His Dad walked out on the family before that, and then he lost his mom at such a young age. In a very real sense he was orphaned.
Since he was a minor at 16 when his mom died and prior to that his dad abandoned he and his family, he was considered an orphan.
