In the 70s, when I was a child in Chicago, I use to hear the intro of this song on WGN channel 9, Sunday afternoons. I Had to find this song because it marks a wonderful wholesome time in my life. Thank you for posting it.
Wow! I came here to find this song having remembered it from TV commercials we used to mock when we were kids. I used to see them selling Whittaker's albums and would always poke fun. Imagine my surprise as I come here now looking for this song to post on a photographer friend's post on Facebook of ships in a harbor and to discover that as an adult I find this song amazingly beautiful. Wow! Silly kids and their myopic vision. Great song.
I have always loved this song by Roger Whitaker....the accent makes it truly special. I have just realized that Elvis also recorded it. Same song, slightly different nuance...both absolutely beautiful.
Oh how I love this song. so solemn.this is jackie speaking. all my life I try to know the words of this song it bring tears to my eyes at all times. Makes me think of my mother who pass away, because of her I love these beautiful folk music.May God Bless her soul.
I have been a soldier for many years and many tours and just wonder if those that have not can be touched but this song as much as one connected to such a life. I know the many times sitting and just wondering from so many miles away. It was a crazy love of wanting to go home and when home wanting to go back to war. They say that in a soldiers life in war it is 55 minutes of boredom and 5 of total hell. I just learned to like it. I remember the woman in those countries and makes me now in my age to just wonder. I remember the close brotherhoods and again I just wonder. Deep song; very deep.

i too love this song but it is so sad. you know since they have women in battle now it seems hollow to have a dream to survive the battles and war to go home to your woman your piece of heaven, as i knew many men in Nam this gave them strength to get home alive for their girl when she is laying dead in the next trench to yours. this is horrible.

You are welcome and you are never sounded mean or hyper critical. This actually helps me analyze the excecution of and videos as I understand basically try to achieve something different. It takes hours to make a video.
The white flashes I use is very different from anything I see on RUclips. I tested out allot of times and even "improved" a video or two. Perhaps there should be "a little" of a flash. You are entittled to your opinion and your opinion does help me understand the what people like or dislike. Thank you for your opinion on my videos.
I liked your song and video, just one note, and not to be a jerk but I find the white flash you use to be annoying. It's distracting to me. I found this to be the case in your Moody Blues Floating video too. But you do put the pictures and music together very well.
