Would dethatching help my zoysia grass? My yard needs serious help. I water, fertilize, mow and maintain to the best of my abilities. But I have bare patches and the occasional weeds. Please help!
Dethatching zoysia is good of it's several years old and very thick. The bare spots it's hard to say with out seeing them but look and figure out what is different in those areas, dig up soil see if it's rocks, shade, water sits here etc
I've been told not to cut zoysia in North central Texas below 2.5 inches in early spring and not below 3 for the remainder of the year due to heat stress. Is this correct?
Congrats shane 1k!! Keep it up, cant wait for this year’s videos. I’d have to say I can use 16-0-0 double dark in my yard! I Need to work on the domination line.
DONT OVERSEED ZOYSIA with anything, if you dont like a brown dormant grass during winter get bermuda. The way to scalp zoysia is the month before warm weather. This way it has no affect on the growing grass and less to compete with once it greens up. Its your lawn do what you want but theres a reason why we never overseed zoysia on golf courses.
Like the videos. This year I put down 0-0-25 liquid, Air-8, and RGS. I'm focusing more on Potassium deficiency due to Texas heat. The stress blend i used last year 7-0-20 was great.
In SC, replaced my centipede and laid zoysia sod in August of last year, rooted well, bit still rooting some. Found the yardmastery app, brought a bio stim pack. Says I need 7-0-20 stress blend. Is that right, or should I use something different considering sod was just laid and still rooting in? Following your channel since were close (in the same region)and you have zoysia, will try to keep up with your fert schedule. Looking forward to learning zoysia. Any tips appreciated, thanks for the content looking forward for more!
I know YM 12-12-12 is working great on my TTTF/KBG mix. I want to try their 7-0-20 heading into summer. I’m going to mis Carbon Earth products. LCN’s got us covered.
Flagship for sure for my St.Augustine here in Florida. I might try and work in some Stress Blend because I have a potassium deficiency as per my recent soil test. Side note, I have the same grill, same color. You use a Slow N Sear?
My Bermudagrass gets so hungry in July. It has been yelling at me all winter: “I’M GONNA NEED THAT FLAGSHIP 24% NITROGEN WHEN IT GETS HOT OUT, SON!!!” And I’m like “Dude, calm down. I just gave you the Stress Blend. Pace yourself!” And it’s like “Yeah, thanks for that appetizer. But I’m gonna need a MEAL come summertime!!”
16-0-0 Double dark. I got TTTF here in Nashville and have been contemplating a warm season grass for the last 2 years. What type of zoysia do you have there?
I would love to try the Sea-K. Used the N-ext products last season and loved them. Loved the throw in of the warranty. You should try to get Allyn to do a side by side lay down in your yard, talking grass. Lol...
Congrats on your 1k subs! Cool season grass here in Ohio. I bomb it with N to wake it up! I am eager to try the Flagship or 16-0-0 Double Dark. Either would benefit me especially with the macros!
Congratulations! Double dark would be awesome! This is my first year using YM app! “If my chair don’t dump me” love it! So real, keep up the great work!
Congratulations on the 1K+ subscribers! I’m looking to push my Bermuda like it’s never been pushed before! Flagship would be great for the push plus the iron in it to darken that up!
Congrats on the 1k subscribers. I have cool season turf but still find your content entertaining to watch. Keep making the videos and doing the “lay in the lawn shots”. I also believe I needed to put down a higher potassium app down. I have the flagship but think my next app should be the stress blend.
Just tossed some offbrand 10-0-20 in the yard to work on that winter stress. I'd love to get some of that Flagship for the summer on this St. Aug lawn!
@@ShaneHeath I’ll definitely be throwing down some mean green double dark later in the season, but I went a little crazy with iron early. Just gonna let that fizzle out a bit first lol
Great video brother, Zoysia is a wonderful lawn, last year I used a sod cutter to get up the Bermuda and installed zoysia sod! The YardMastery starter fertilizer and 12-12-12 was the only thing I used ! My favorite fertilizer from YardMastery is the 24-0-6 flagship! Yes sir 😊
It's not a fertilizer but I have found in my particular case that adding iron does not make the zoysia grow any better but gives it a deeper green color. Your mileage may vary.
@@ShaneHeath I'm from southern Oklahoma and I live on 66 acres, mostly wooded. I have struggled to get grass growing in the yard due to shade. I've tried 100 varieties of fescue, Bermuda, blue grass etc. We had a place that I have sodded 5-6 times due to erosion but after a couple of years the Bermuda dies off. Since I live on a slope and this place washes out I have to use sod. Went to Home Depot to buy 100 square ft of sod and thought they overcharged me. Come to find out they loaded Zoysia. I asked what Zoysia was and was assured it was the same as Bermuda. This place I'm sodding gets about 2 hours of direct sunlight and the rest what shines through the trees in most places. Fast forward 7 years> The Zoysia has spread everywhere and even spread into the shade. It has taken over most of my lawn since I cut plugs out and randomly spaced them. What use to be bare dirt is now thick beautiful lawn. I cant say enough about this grass. The only place I haven't had any luck was the 100% shade area
@mark white I love Zoysia, we are about to put it in at our beach house also. Similar thing happened to me, I ordered a different grass and was sent zoysia. Best thing that could have ever happened
@@ShaneHeath Thanks. I got the “combo” pack - Stress Blend, Flagship and the Prodiamine and didn’t realize until I opened everything that wasn’t in it. Live in Michigan and have already put down the Flagship and Prodiamine so I’m hoping for greatness. This is my first year using these products, as I’ve been a Scotts user for over 20 years.
@@ShaneHeath We’ll see. I’m doing opposite of you. Put Zoysia sod in the front last year and seeded Arden15 Bermuda in the back. Zoysia is already waking up. Not the Bermuda though.
I been thinking of killing off my bermuda for zoysia, the contractor installed it before we bought the house. And I'm not good enough to compete but I'm good enough to eat lol

Hard to say I don't have any experience in Texas and it depends on the strand of zoysia my zoysia calls for being kept under 1.5 inch
I have 2 month old Zorro Zoysia sod and used a 13-13-13 on it and it is starting to wake up (i think) but i am lost to what it really needs.
Just follow along with my videos and you should be good!
It looks like you bagged the scalp. Is that correct? Should I bag the mow that I scalp?
Yes bag if you can if not try and take or blow off as much as possible
Not much zoysia content out there so thanks for that. 7-0-20 please.
Exactly what I said when I started my channel!
I'd like to experiment with some 12-12-12
Goodluck!
Congrats shane 1k!! Keep it up, cant wait for this year’s videos. I’d have to say I can use 16-0-0 double dark in my yard! I Need to work on the domination line.
Double dark would do the trick!
How often can you apply the RGS/sea kelp?
I think it says once month
Got zorro zoysia in Nashville, want to try the 7-0-20 stress blend love the content !
Thanks! And nice another zoysia fan

I've been hmming and hawwing over a bag of Flagship to use this summer on my St. Augustine
Good stuff!
Nice green up! I'd like to try the YM flagship as my lawn is high in phosphorus. The flagship has a 24-0-6. Perfect for my lawn.
Flagship looks promising
Congrats on 1k! Good video!
7-0-20 Stress Blend.
Thanks! Your videos are coming along nicely as well!
Like the videos. This year I put down 0-0-25 liquid, Air-8, and RGS. I'm focusing more on Potassium deficiency due to Texas heat. The stress blend i used last year 7-0-20 was great.
Thanks! Can't imagine Texas heat and trying to keep turf
Which cultivar of Zoysia is that?
Zenith Zoysia
7-0-20 for sure. My K is lowwww.
That would definitely help then!

Would work great on that TTTF!
Congrats on your 1K Shane. My goal is to reach that milestone this year. The flagship 24-0-6 is money.😎🌴
Thanks! Just keep creating, only takes 1 video to get you there
Flagship for sure for my St.Augustine here in Florida. I might try and work in some Stress Blend because I have a potassium deficiency as per my recent soil test.

Naw I just keep the coals over on one side, same concept. Love a kettle

I have the Zenith zoysia
12-12-12 please! Just put down brand new zoysia palisades. Teach me your ways!!
Love my zoysia! Slow and steady but great turf
Flagship my Zenith Zoysia needs it so bad.
Great videos .. congrats on your 1k..Texas Bermuda.. wondering how that 7-0-20 stress blend would work out for me this year..
Thanks! Seems like all my Texas people are saying stress blend!
Do you oversees your zoysia with rye? Interesting! I'd like to know more. Flagship for the summer push on my zoysia.
Oh yeah over seeded it 2 years now
Double Dark along with the BioStim pack!!
Sounds like a power combo
Double Dark 16-0-0 please and thank you. My P and K were too high and I’m really trying not to add any.
Have my eyes on the double dark as well
My early season choice of YM fert is Flagship. But come July it is Stress Blend for all that potash!
Either one is great!
Both good choices!
Enjoying the warm-season turf love man! Keep up the great work (save some ribs for me!). Been eye-ballin that 7-0-20 for my Bermuda. :)
Thanks man! Ribs didn't last long lol
Congratulations!!! YM Flagship. Mmm... ribs
Thanks! Ribs came out great

If he is ever in NC I'll try and make that happen lol
Congrats on 1k from Rocky Mount. The 7-0-20 would be great. Here's to 1k and beyond 🍻🍺🥃

I would love to try the Flagship 24-0-6 on my St. Augustine
Sounds like a great choice
Grats on the 1k+ I already got the summer stress blend 7-0-20 but i could use another bag for this texas heat that will be here in July-Sept
Sounds like a great plan! Thanks!
That zoysia is coming in nicely. The flagship 24-0-6 would work well on my Bermuda this year. It’s what I plan on using.
Flagship would be great on bermuda
Stress Blend would help my lawn here in Central TX, with a yard that doesn't have irrigation!
That sounds like a battle!
Congratulations! Double dark would be awesome! This is my first year using YM app! “If my chair don’t dump me” love it! So real, keep up the great work!
Never fully trust a $20 chair lol and thanks!
Awesome. Thank you
No thank you!
I've been wanting to try the Flagship fertilizer. Looks like it will work well in my Bermuda!😁
Flagship is like the old faithful go to
Congrats on 1k Shane!

Glad you found it! Thanks
I would like to try 12-12-12 on my Bermuda this summer

Congratulations on the 1K+ subscribers! I’m looking to push my Bermuda like it’s never been pushed before! Flagship would be great for the push plus the iron in it to darken that up!
Flagship and bermuda a great combo
Congrats on 1k Shane !! Would love to try Flagship.
Thanks! Flagship seems to be the top choice
I'd have to say the Stress Blend. It does get fairly warm here in Southern Indiana. Would love to see the bionite do its work.
Great choice!
Love your video, I would like 24-0-6 from yard mastery
Thanks! And good choice! Goodluck!
Congrats on the 1K!!! Based off my yard mastery soil test I’m needing a bag of 12-12-12. Starter fertilizer.
Who does soil test these days lol no great job I need to myself
Do a soil test. Your grass was prolly low in potassium.

Been eyeing up assume Flagship, and like a great product

Great vid! 16-0-0 Double Dark is what I would love to try!
Thanks! Double dark is on my list for this year for sure

Yes iron gives you that nice blue green pop!
