    great video, however, should have done ketones before carboxylic acids if you are going to refer to them in the carboxylic acids explanation

    Why didn't you tell the location of the ketone group in propanone but you did it for heptanone?

    • @chemistryinaminute
      @chemistryinaminute  6 лет назад +2

      A ketone by definition has to be placed between two branches. Therefore, there is only one possible placement of a ketone in propanone since there is only one location for it to be. If the ketone were moved, it would no longer be a ketone, because it would appear at the end or beginning of a chain and be an aldehyde. In heptanone, the ketone could be in multiple locations, therefore 2-heptanone, 3-heptanone, etc... If you didn't specify which carbon the ketone was on, you could make a mistake.

    Why dont you have to tell the location of the double bond in like aldehyde

    • @chemistryinaminute
      @chemistryinaminute  7 лет назад

      +ace boogie Aldehydes occur at the end of chains. It’s impossible for them to occur in the middle of one.

    Can I ask the fuctional group of Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Calcium Hypochlorite, sodium hypochlorite, and hydrochloric acid?????answer it please thank you!!

    • @chemistryinaminute
      @chemistryinaminute  4 года назад

      So the short answer is that most of the things you listed as ionic compounds and therefore do not contain organic functional groups in the traditional sense at all.
