- Today in 1900, the USS Holland [SS-1] was commissioned into the US Navy. This officially began the infamous US Navy Submarine Force that we know and love today.

Of the 120 created to fight for our nation during WWII, only 8 remain to remind us the sacrifices that the US Navy Submarine Force has made to keep us free and safe.
