    The triple light thingy is intriguing. Your example was shot at night, but it would be worthwhile to see this demo’d in daylight with the unit used for fill.

    Great video. When I saw your light system, I took my canon MT-24EX obtained Cable holder and stretched my cables a bit so as to better situate or have more control over my flashes. for lighting each strobe has its own focusing for dark areas. So thank you for showing your system.

    Hi excellent video outstanding photos and brilliant concepts. I’ve missed out on spring this year and had bought a macro lens for this which hasn’t seen any action yet.After watching this video I’m now going to investigate the lensbaby filter kit.

      Hi Brian. The Lensbaby kit is a lot of fun and adds some other possibilities to photography. I've made a video where I've covered the main filters and what they can do here ruclips.net/video/h2SBvcfhKvI/видео.html. Thanks for watching.

    Really useful video - thanks. One question please - I can't quite work out how you've attached the clamp (is it a plamp btw?)

    • @WalksOnTheWildSide
      @WalksOnTheWildSide  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Robert. Yes it's a plamp. The exact one I use is no-longer available but there's a very similar one if you google "Wimberley The Plamp II". I had it attached to my camera cage, but if you don't use one you might be able to clamp it to something on your tripod head. It won't completely remove all motion in a strong breeze, but it will heavily reduce it. Thanks for watching.

    Some of the older Fuji prime lenses have the same kind of focus-pull-ring and I quite like that arrangement indeed. Too bad that Fuji is moving away from that arrangement in their newer primes.
    Have you got any experience with Laowa macro prime lenses actually? (I love mine and its only drawback is that you cannot use focus bracketing in-camera but have to try to do that manually which you cannot do with large numbers of images! Or invest in macro rails...).

    • @WalksOnTheWildSide
      @WalksOnTheWildSide  2 года назад +1

      That’s a shame. I think Fuji are doing some really interesting things. I really like some of their gear and tried an XT4 recently. But it was a shame to hear their new CEO’s comments which implied they would be less focussed on camera development.
      Laowa are one of the most innovative companies in the digital camera market at the moment. I have the 25mm f2.8 2.5x-5x and I really enjoy it - but takes some getting used to. I have thought many times about getting the 100mm f2.8 but it seems too similar to my Sony 90mm f2.8. I would also love to try the 24mm f14 probe. But as you say, they’re all manual at the moment.

    • @TimvanderLeeuw
      @TimvanderLeeuw 2 года назад

      @@WalksOnTheWildSide The 100mm focal length is indeed very similar to the 90mm focal length which you already have, that won't give you much.
      However you will get up to 2x magnification and I love that myself -- the 1x magnification of my Fuji 80mm never really seemed fulfilling to me, and with an extension ring to bring it to around 1.22x was just getting interesting, but when you can go to 2x it opens up a whole new world of macro photography!
      Regarding Fuji, I think that the comments of their new CEO have scared a lot of people but I'm not so sombre myself about their future. They still have a number of interesting new things coming, such as a native 150-600mm lens and the new X-H2 with a newer, higher-resolution sensor (and rumoured to have improved AF as well).
      I do wonder about the control system on their future cameras though, as they seem to be moving towards more cameras having the "PASM" dial approach instead of the dedicated-dial approach of their X-Tx line of cameras and the older X-H1!

    • @WalksOnTheWildSide
      @WalksOnTheWildSide  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the info. I will keep my eye on the Fuji situation. I do have an interest in having and highly capable APS-C alternative to my full frame set up, for occasions where I have to cover log distances on foot. Sony are great but their APS-C line up is very basic compared to Fuji.

    • @TimvanderLeeuw
      @TimvanderLeeuw 2 года назад

      @@WalksOnTheWildSide Fuji gear is not necessarily and lighter or smaller than full frame gear though! 😀
      For a smaller and lighter weight Fuji body look at the X-S10.
      But then you will still be carrying around heavy lenses if you want to do something like wildlife shooting instead of landscape or macro!
      On the Sony system, are lenses actually interchangeable between their APS-C and FF systems?
      I find it's a great advantage to keep my gear within a single system as much as possible so that lenses, batteries, flashes etc are all interchangeable between my cameras.

    • @WalksOnTheWildSide
      @WalksOnTheWildSide  2 года назад +1

      The Fuji set up I tried seemed a lot lighter. But yes the Sony lenses are interchangeable between FF and APS-C. The main problem with Sony APS-C is customisation. I only have 2 customisable buttons and one dial on my A6400 but I have 8 or 9 buttons (depending on the lens) plus 2 customisable dials on my A9. When I tried the XT-4 everything just seemed ergonomically great.

    While the broken lens is unfortunate, it did teach you a valuable lesson: USE a wireless mic. I do!! No mishaps, well, unless a ranger is stopping you to ask what you're doing (building a nuke of course, idiot), with all if that camera gear and OOPS! the mic is running as is your "body cam." &*&^%$ Won't be forgetting that conversation too soon.!!
    .
    Seriously, go wireless. You will be very happy you did. Just subbed to your channel.

      You can start really cheaply, and don't need macro lenses to get going. You can buy some extension tubes for £10-£20 which will let you focus much closer with an ordinary lens.
