Very true,and well said
Omg... Phylicia just changes the ELEMENTS in a room. She snatches your soul and commands your deepest attention immediately! Whatever you are feeling. STOPS! Geeze! LOVE HER!
Phylicia looking heavenly as always - wow. All hail the Queen
Tyler Perry deserves more credit within our community on showing how to create your own lane within industry. I hope his work ethic permeates for our people
It is a reason why there is only one Tyler Perry. Hollywood don't allow too much success.
He always has gotten credit for it. Wdym
He’ll get the artistic credit he deserves when he stops playing on our emotions with non-beneficial stereotypical images
No he doesnt. He gets PLENTY of credit. Where is Tyler Perry getting not enough credit?
Salute the brotha... But not with the drag queen Madea, every EVERY movie he creates (he's the director) the black woman and the black man are never in harmony ever. Bad by myself, diary of a mad black woman, why did I get married , (that toxic dinner scene) family that preys etc. Never positive, never supporting one another. Anyway he has an opportunity to show another side because he using his one dollar. But we'll see.
Phylicia Rashad, really knows how to play crazy. Phylicia's facial expressions she deserves every award for best actress in and out of Hollywood.
Whenever Phylicia Rashad speaks, you listen😌
Listen and be quiet....lol
Okay we need to name a wine after Phylicia Rashad she just looks better with time

Agreed.
@stryfetc1 I dont even drink wine but if you put Phylicia face on the bottle I'll learn to love wine.

I’m not really a fan of his current work, but I will give credit where credit is due... Tyler Perry is a beast! He is doing to Hollywood what Master P did to music. 👏🏾
Good analogy BUT no one is putting Master P in an all time MC list
Lincoln TANKsley of course not. I’m just talking about the hustle and business sense.
@@kennethwilliamsinc Right! #ICONCUR👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯
Not really. Master P had a team and he was the one overseeing things as well and brought in great talent like Snoop Dogg. Tyler Perry does everything himself and he's not crushing Hollywood like Master P. Master P had international hits. Tyler Perry only has hits in the black community in the US. Let Perry make his movie version of Make em Say Uhh then we can maybe have the discussion if Perry is making Hollywood actually scared
@@goodfella1401 So Tyler doesn't have a team of actors, studio managers, cinematographers, etc. and not overseeing them?

One thing for sure, he is not a sell out of his race. He embraces his race with all the good and bad and in the process giving his people opportunities for jobs and careers.

Phylicia Rashad is still beautiful! Also... is not her presence and voice just greater than everybody else? She is just amazing
Miles Brown yeeessss!!!
It’s so refreshing to see ...
If he didn’t write his own scripts then people would have a problem. Do you Tyler!
Why would anyone have a problem with him not writing his own scripts? Many show creators don't write their own scripts. They aren't criticized for that. As long as the show is well-written, the audience doesn't really care who writes it.
@Tay Made 😂😂😂 no we definitely wouldn't
Nope, people would not. Dont know why youd think that. Do you get what hes being criticized for?
What is the point of making your own table n youre the only one sitting at it. Thats basically the gist of it. No one would have a problem with him not writing an entire script, people have a problem with him not having people around him to help with his work.
I could see it. It's the same with music in a sense.
onlyrog5 exactly
Sway is smitten with Phylicia Rashad. He's so respectful to the guests. Nice interview.
Tyler is giving his people jobs and building his own.
Essi Metae he should still hire more people to edit, direct, and write movies bc these plots are all the same.
Yall are too critical! It's a black man directing, producing and casting OUR people. Hes creating new jobs, exposing new faces and telling the stories he wants to tell instead of begging white people for funding and to see his vision.. Look at it from that perspective and you will be filled with joy.
Straightoutofchiraq does imagery not matter? Is he not responsible for his depiction of black ppl. Tyler writes as if he hates black women or at least thinks we’re total complete idiots also as if he has a real problem with dark skinned black males...
Straightoutofchiraq if you can’t take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. He should hire different black writers to create different stories. Brad Pitt does a better job as a producer. He produced so many black films: Moonlight, Americanah, The Underground Railroad, If Beale Street Could Talk, Selma, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, 12 years of Slave. All critically acclaimed black films.
Yes
People are just haters. Tyler Perry deserves everything he have he worked hard for it.
Facts his movies are great I dont understand why people are so negative and hate on him it's dumb to me
The dress tho. Ewwww
There are bad movies or poorly written scripts by non black people that do very well. He's right about "Coke doesn't change it's formula because someone likes Pepsi." I just don't get the hate. If you don't like his work don't patronize it.

@@BGLZ8K You got that right! :)
He has something to prove!!He built his studio because he had something to prove. I hope he doesn't lose focus trying to prove himself. Quality takes time. It seems like he's always in a race to the finish line🤷. I get it already!
and the movie was TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @ me all you want, I said it
When it comes to his work ethic & how far he came he has my respect but as far as content & quality that’s another story
I agree with you. The stats he used to support his stance just doesn't add up. Those writers were 10 years ago- 10 years. While the have and have nots are Owns top rated show, Tyler really has no Tuesday night competition given that Tuesday night has a weak lineup in television and the 9pm or 10 spot is a steal in that most ppl don't have another option.
exactly, and folks just try to distract form that very point. frfr 90% of these "new" movies are trash for full price tickets anyways. so tyler's not a lone, but the fact that he's a bro, i want him to be better so i can go support etc
Right. He knows good damn well his post wasn't about work ethic. He was bragging that he did good shit all by himself. Then, we informed him that it shows he does it solo--that his shit ain't good. Now, on this interview, he characterizes his failed IG post as him encourages "work ethic"--no--and he continues on his ego trip: "Most scriptwriters take 6-8 months to write a season; I take 2 weeks." Again, sir: IT. SHOWS. Use writers, and take your fucking time.
I agree , and his new movie on Netflix proved us all right!!
@@brandnewtubesox Exactly!!!
Writing everything "fast" doesn't always end up being the greatest content.... #message
lol no doubt. He putting his name on it either way. Whether he write it all or have other writers.
But it works for Tyler Perry. Only Moses could do what Moses did.
Never. Impossible.
I agree, for Tyler Perry it seems to works.
@@nickn7606 It works because we'll accept average. Average can still be enjoyable. Not everything is going win an Oscar. Some folks just think that he can operate on a different level but if he's cool with it and his fans do then he can just keep doing what he's doing.
"Mortgage? What's a mortgage?"
Lord, I aspire to reach that level of financial freedom in my life.

I have learned to never ever get a mortgage! It shouldn't take a person 15-30 years to pay for a home. I will work hard and pay cash for my home! That's what I am working on.
Tyler writes that straightforward "real life" movies. He don't hide the good, the bad, or the ugly. But he does make us laugh or cry while learning a life lesson.
He does but his perspective and portryal of black women is a bit off and unflaterring.
Sheryl Glover Yes he does👍🏽💯
@@chandraanjelica5608 😅 how so..?
@@acharich youre not a black woman and judging by the laugh emoji u wouldnt understand.
@@chandraanjelica5608 I don't understand how people say that. He has portrayed plenty of good black women characters including as lawyers, doctors, good wives, good single women. Is he not supposed to show the other half of us as the ratchets and scandalous women we are too? I like that he keeps it real and includes all of us.
A Fall From Grace, is an excellent movie. The cast did an amazing job.
The thing is, there's a duality that may be missed. In this interview, Tyler thinks his success equates our love for the content. Its actually our loyalty and support of our own. Things could get kicked up a notch, frfr, HOWEVER- We will support him. Period.
Gr8 observation sister. A well thought out point.
Agreed. Even hood folks deserve quality content when telling their stories.
Here’s something to think about. Would he be getting this support of this type of writing if he was a White man doing the exact same thing?

@@crisswalker349 and with writing, he is growing. It is true expression.
Tyler don’t like criticism. You can tell he writes all of the scripts because the dialogue in his shows are very similar. Bless his heart.
He should focus more on quality over quantity. His writing's real real corny to say the least
I agree. Being critical of someone doesn’t mean you’re trying to tear them down. And to be honest, just because you CAN write fast doesn’t mean it’s good... There’s no real reason a man of Mr. Perry’s resources can’t find talented black writers. Especially for a show called Sisters...🙄
I agree 100% with every comment here. I really like Tyler Perry. My biggest issues with him writing everything are the limited scope of creativity, lack of character development, repetitive lines in the same scenes, and (especially) the very regular negative portrayals of Black women. They're either ridiculously ruthless (think Veronica, Candace) or they blend into the background. He might have #1 shows, but they're more comic relief that believable dramatic series. *shrug*
Criticism needs to be constructive or it is just mean spirited. It's difficult to criticize something that works ya know? He has built an empire on his intellect alone and because some don't like his art doesn't mean it's bad. I think Sway said it best, some people don't like his art but respect him. Tell ya friends you don't like it but don't aim your discontent for his work his way and have nothing to offer him.
@@CK-yo7ub Agreed. If you write an entire season in 2 weeks something will be lacking. I know Tyler can buy my broke ass 100 times, but I stand by this.
I love how unapologetic Tyler is about his writing style
He sure was. I almost suspected that he might cave in some concerning the criticism, but he stuck to his ways of doing things. Have to respect that.
He's producing the same movies over and over targeting black women with failed relationship scripts.. He's corny
@@markg9911 his being corny allowed for him to create how many soundstages and the space to create any scenery necessary for movies that are far from corny. He could just take the money and keep it moving but he is investing in a way that cteates more opportunities.
Lotty Dotty I’d respect him even more if he used some constructive criticism to edit his work. He has allowed himself to grow in business, but not as a writer.
@ Cynthia r I agree n that’s what makes him so good at what he does truly one of a kind!!!
When you think about it, Tyler Perry is literally the only person in “Hollywood” making the type of content that he produces and he should be appreciated for showing our true authentic experiences as black people. It’s funny when comedians joke about it, but when he makes a movie about it, we are embarrassed...? 😑. Get over it. That man is a hard worker and has given so many people an opportunity to get in the industry and grow. So I applaud him for all that he does.
@Tay Made amen
I thank people do appreciate what Tyler has done, but they are asking him to create better content. Nothing wrong with looking up to what he has done, but feeling his content could be better. I don't watch his stuff like that, because the content is too simple. If I was him, I wouldn't take what people say as a negative. I would look at it as a chance to make more money from my customers.
true and authentic? honestly... I've never met anyone like his tv and film caricatures. I always figured I wasnt his demo and the plots in his work were caricatures and not characters, representing tropes and not fully dimensional people
How is Sistas authentic?Somebody please let me know. His work lacks quality. At some point you have to be humble enough to evolve and not rush something just to toot your own horn. His problem is he doesnt want to listen because he cares more about numbers than what people actually think or say about his shows.

This life is full of human error on both agendas. There’s a lot of great men that made great choices for their family. Now, where are their stories.
Amen Ra , perhaps someone else is called to write those stories. He is in his lane doing what works for him. This genre will always be relevant because that aspect of human behavior does and will continue to exist.
KiraMonay 93 did you really type “witch?”
Cheryl Williams which? Typing fast but thanks Tho
My only regret was that I'm too young for Phylicia Rashad! Lol
Mackaveli Millz she is unbelievable
Watch a Cosby show rerun ...The way she says Cliff, makes me wish my name was Cliff lol ...she is something fr tho.
Mackaveli Millz right!
I was literally in love with Phylicia Rashad as a child! A Child! Lol. I didn't know much about women (because I was a CHILD! lol) but I knew I loved her and that's the type of woman I wanted.
Get line, no cutting! She's mine!
I loooove this interview! I can't wait to work with Tyler Perry.... People only throw shade when you shine
Just like the Talented Man said, his experience is real straight up hood shyt & if you don't get it then that's fine but why attempt to take away or tone down another's craft, especially when they are GENIUS in it. As an aspiring screenwriter myself who just so happens to be a focused, black, street, hood, woman as well as a professional, I can relate because everything is not for everyone and you do what works for you and don't let other fools try to place you in a box. The mind encompasses a variety of pleasures and gems if you let it. Tyler Perry you are an inspiration just as you intended to be when you showed your marvelous scripts and the work ethic that comes into play to make visions come to life. I hope I have the pleasure of seeing my name in works associated with you one day. You Inspire Me! MNC
Congrats Tyler keep blessing and you will continually be blessed
All these people here criticising Tyler when he clearly explained he tried writers and IT DAMN DIDN'T WORK! Those who love his work were beginning to stop watching. Y'all with all your complains ain't supporting but want to show him how to go about his business. Hollywood with all its myriad of writers have similar themes all the time but y'all bought into hating on one of your own because of dumb criticisms and then go like "I ain't a fan". OK. Keep same energy and leave the damn man alone. If you ain't a fan then why the heck are you trying to tell him what he should do for his fans?
People got you hating on your own for dumb reasons and y'all think you're justified. 🤦🏾♂️
I read that when he did have writers, they tried to be a part of a union and he wasn't with that....
wish i could like this more than once
Tom Sea it didn’t work because he didn’t want pay per WGA scale and share credit.
@@theseoulgoode simple minded here what you want see what you want
Tom Sea Amen Amen Amen!!!!!!!!
I loved her in Colored Girls
He’s not listening to his audience, we’re watching just to support him. I personally record and play his stuff just so he can get the numbers.I don’t actually watch it because it’s all the same. My example of great storytellers are Shonda Rhimes and Ava DeVernay.
What people forget is there are levels to this writing S**T. If he were an MC he wouldn't make anyone's top (pick a #) list in lyrics. However he' #1 on the best businessman and most confident person list.
c powell Agreed!
Yeah they done life stories and Shonda Rhimes is writing TV programs just like Tyler Perry how many stories can you tell in a hospital that you haven't seen before. Again these are black people making a mark in the television industry and I'm proud of all of them.
Thanks for being honest most are not
