Review of the most popular mole traps to buy online. I have moles in my yard and have determined that the large mechanical trap is the best. It's easy to set and works the best. Although it is the most expensive. The battery powered ultrasonic deterrents don't really do anything. The small mechanical traps don't work. They are had to set and don't snap shut when a mole passes underneath.
None of the metal traps have rusted, they are galvanized steel. My soil is very sandy, so if you have hard clay, it might require some hand digging before setting the trap. Though it's already carved out by the mole. When the mole is caught the trap will pop up and you can easily tell from a distance. No Digging Required: Traps can be set safely and quickly with just the action of stepping on them. Chemical Free and Safe to Use: No poisons or chemical bait and reusable. Get rid of moles fast and efficiently with FPS Mole Traps. Powerful spring trap eliminates moles .

Thanks, i was looking for a tutorial on how to set the trap
Excellent video, getting one right now
Those traps are excellent. I have 6 of them and they are the mole "Eliminator" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excelent video thank you
Would've been nice to see a comparison with the even more expensive WireTek model. Supposedly has a more solid base but is $10 more. I'll give this one a try and if it doesn't work I'll return it and get the wiretek . Update: may be beginners luck but got a mole the first day just using a random mole mound. Good product.
Excellent!
The more expensive one you recommend is great. I got two. May I recommend how to install? When you put it in the ground, rock it back and forth so the blades make a good clerance incase there's rocks in the way of the blades closing quickly. Stab the trap into the ground, and literally rock the trap on a 45 degree angle back and forth a couple times to ease the blades when they do snap closed. THUMBS UP!!!
What do you think of the idea of using a straight edge tool like a sod cutter to make a slot in the soil to make it easier for the blades to squeeze shut? I have kinda hard soil here in nW ohio
@@paulhunter9613 I know what you mean about Ohio soil, we used to live in Fort Wayne, IN and the soil there is the worst. But you're only penetrating the soil about 5 or 6 inches, you may have good luck rocking the trap blades without using a sod blade. Use your judgement though. Use your tool first, then rock the blades into it to make sue you hit your target successfully.
@@lostinmyspace4910 thanks for the reply, I just got a Nash brand hoop style trap and will give that a try. Since the ground warmed up a bit I see 3 tunnels now
I have purchased the better traps as well the one that you step on to set. I would say if the trap was set correctly, once it is springs back up you have caught a mole. I have had the traps for about 10 years, they have some surface rust on them yet they still work perfectly !!!
Sick vid🤙
What if there are no aparrent tunnels? I have a bunch of mounds, but i see no surface tunnels.
How do you get the mole out of the trap after it’s caught
Awesome, we have been invaded this year, first time in 15 years here, which is odd, but regardless they need to go. Thx for sharing!
I have lived here for 35 yrs and have never had a mole before. I see that they are coming into my yard from the neighbors behind me.😡
I just tried pouring some ammonia perpendicular to the tunnel thinking it would deter them from using the tunnel, I used about 1.5 qts full strength, in a foot long area, it didn’t work at all🤬
I use mine in clay soil so when I set the trap I simulated a mole by triggering the trap but it popped out of the ground. Any ideas on improving catch rate?
With the smaller cheaper traps i was having that problem, the trap would get pushed up and not trigger.
I tried leaning a rock on the top, but that didn't really work.
I didn't have the problem you are saying with the larger trap.
Any luck yet in your clay soil?
You have to take a shovel and notch out where the jaws will be in the ground so there is less/no resistance when it snaps shut.
Most every tim i push the trap to set it with my foot, one side goes down and the other only part way, so it won't set. It is frustrating. My ground where moles are is very soft unfortunately for trap setting.
I have real Sandy soil. Once I put the trap in place and set it, I manipulate it by hand so that it sits level and the trigger is aligned properly.
I’ve caught 7 in three weeks here in S Illinois. My front yard😡
Can this trap work for gopher ?
Maybe, if it's a small one. Gophers are pretty big. This might not be large enough to work.
Won’t work for gophers.
Gophers do not create those long pushed up tunnel runs. Their tunnels are much deeper and only come to the surface when creating a mound.
Look at “Gophinator” traps. I have, literally, caught over a thousand gophers in the past 15 years with a Gophinator trap. Lots of RUclips videos on that trap.
What brand and where are you purchasing the trap?

You should show a video of getting rid of wasp in outside building we got them bad
"Disposal" "Aannnddd we just flick em' away..." hahahaha
I bought those n in 2 years, got ONE... they didn't work well because they are hard to set & crush the tunnel so the moles avoid it.
Mine have a plate as a trigger, not a disc like yours do... Maybe that's the issue...
These are awkward to set and hard to open to remove the mole. Get a spear trap for much easier use.
Doesn't look like you are setting the cheaper traps correctly from other RUclips videos I have watched. True they are more finicky but the Victor trap looks to be much better construction than the ones you got. Maybe that is part of the reason they are not working for you? Could not tell as you didn't show your method of setting them.

Why would you dig a big hole and fiddle with setting that type of trap when you can just step on the better trap to set in one motion
Beg to differ, Dave. Set into High Desert hard-pack soil, your heavier scissor type traps (from Amazon) proved worthless. Employed four or five without one kill in 28-months. One hundred and twenty dollars worth of Chinese-made flotsam. Blades bend too easily, as well.
Why live in a relatively rural area (from the looks of your videos) if you hate animals?
Moles are in cities too as well as deer, ground hogs, etc. Not just a rural problem
U are so dumb
Hate to be the one to tell you, but that isn't wiretek trap.... it's a cheap Chinese made clone of the WireTek trap! I'm guessing it is working, but it won't last like the WireTek! Try the real one and let md know what you think! Good luck!
garsum mole traps - sorry, these are junk. Will only work with very soft earth. Georgia soil and clay? Forget it.
rly ? this cheaper one is also good... BUT YOU NEED TO SET IT INSIDE TUNNEL ... XDDD what u did is laughable ... i laugh on it now XD DIG IT INTO THE DAMN TUNNEL XD it works well i use them and catch moles easily
The tunnel is just a couple of inches below the surface of those raised runs. He did exactly right, other than you need to step down on the raised tunnel and pack it back down. Only a space as wide as the trap. When the mole comes through the existing tunnel, he’s going to push that collapsed portion back up and that will trigger the trap.
I’ve caught five in the two weeks I’ve had those traps.
