Told you that the Lucas stop leak worked. Has kept me from replacing power steering on an old Yukon that has almost 300K. Been going strong for 5 years now. Good luck. Take Care
The gloved-hand pointing gestures made me think it was a ChrisFix video for a second. 'Hey guys! Worthless Whips here. And today we're going to detail a rat-funked engine bay'
@CruzRedEye yeh l always use Lucas products on my old Ford. Yes it’s more expensive but I believe using cheaper parts is false economy because they don’t last as long and you just end up spending twice.
I used it since just after the first snow fall here in Northern Alberta, in a 2001 Jeep TJ, and had no issues, it works great. Have the new Power Steering pump sitting in a box but if it can make spring time I'll call it a win.
If you guys ever watch Precision Transmissions channel they suggest if you use transmission stop leak only use half the recommended amount than change the fluid after a while to get rid of it. That stuff really swells the seals as you can see during some of their disassembly videos, some to the point where it ruins the seal. You guys might consider flushing out the power steering system to get rid if the stop leak to stop it from swelling the seals to the point it causes damage. Just a thought.
Used Lucas power steering stop leak today, and after about 30 - 45 minutes after putting it in, the whining and howling noise was gone, much to my "surprise." Now I have to see if the leak will go away, as my reservoir was empty when I started, so I must have had a leak. I will now monitor this, and hopefully this stuff will work. Reading the comments below and talking with other guys that used it, the stuff really does work, and a couple guys had to use 2 bottles. So far, I've used only 1, and will report back later, when I see if the leak is gone. If it works, this could save big bucs $$ so I'm really hoping. Good video here.
I was going through a qt of fluid a week. Went on a road trip bought the big jug of Lucas. By the time I came back it had completely fixed my leak. Lasted for another 3 years before I replaced the rack.
Matt here I really anjoy watching the videos on the channel. As a car guy myself the two of you are having some fun fix up cars and with the channel in the two of yous free time. Also I learning new things too. Keep up the great work with the cars and trucks and with the channel.
I really enjoy the can-do attitude combined with the attention to details like getting all the air filter clips on. I also enjoy Winston's wifes cooking videos; I've made several and they are delicious.
Another really good video. I too have tried "leak fixers" when I couldn't afford to fix something right. Sometimes they work but not very often, glad it worked for you. I really like how you are doing this truck, one step at a time. Loving your series and hope your channel really takes off.
I like the music you are using for these videos. The truck looks like a great project. I don't have a truck and don't have any plans to get one, but I'm enjoying watching :)
Such a clever starting point... Nice work, Winston!! Usually, if you want a company to sponsor you...don't say. .I can't believe that "CRAP" worked! 😂😂 Next episode looks totally down & dirty...can't wait!!! Stay safe, healthy & as always, Stay Awesome!!😎💕
My father worked in the automotive industry for well over 35 years and I can assure you that most garages only use Lucas products when it comes to quick fixes such as this one.
@@sebastienbolduc5654 that's great, but some people have older equipment and Lucas kept that motor alive till the saved for a better car. Ask an 18 wheeler owner op they use multiple Lucas products a couple of times a week...its not just a mechanic in a can quick fix...thats Marvel mystery oil
@@jacklausch3517 very true! It's the only additives I trust putting in my vehicles. I had an old 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer that began to heavily clank. Not a good sign! It was also leaking oil like an SOB. I changed the valve cover gasket and started adding Lucas oil stabilizer. Even though it was still leaking some oil I ran that car for roughly 2 years, and it was still running when I traded it in. I have good reason to believe that if I never used their stabilizer that engine would have seized way before hand!
I’m from the UK 🇬🇧 and Dodge vehicles were not something we saw very often apart from my parents van which was a minibus. It was a Dodge Comer and looked like a fridge on wheels. It had two swinging back doors and once in the summer I jumped out of the back a slit my side right open on one of the door hinges. I’ve carried the scar all my life.
I had it calm down a whine on a Ford power steering fluid pump before. Definitely good stuff. The Lucas automatic transmission fix can work in some cases, too, but Valvoline's High Mileage Maxlife ATF is better imo.
Winston - starts with the easiest part, changing the short spark plug wires. Me at 66 years of age I learned long ago, for the sake of my feelings of productiveness to always start with the hardest jobs so things go faster later with the easier jobs. Try it, you're welcome!
American cars have broken heater cores because we are tough and don’t need heat (we’re lazy). 😅. I used Lucas in my k5 blazer, it worked for two weeks then started leaking again. Good luck
Get a 1971 Fort Torino Cobra Jet. Way cooler than a lot of the cars around, but you will be spending a lot of lonely hours out in the garage by yourself, and you will be spending a lot of money. In other words, great fun! Do it now!
Basically does the same thing brake fluid does you put brake fluid in the power steering reservoir it will swell the seals stop delete. Nice to see you driving a Mopar and the V10 at that
Winston, try changing three Crown Victoria heater cores on police equipped vehicles in one day. You have shotgun rackets, light bar , radio. And computer mounts that must be moved out of the way first then reinstall . I developed some short cuts to save time.
Oh man I don’t envy you! We had a police interceptor crown Vic and although most of that equipment had been removed I can see just how much of a job that must have been
Lucas is a very good product I use it in my car high mileage oil protector. And it really works. If I don't put it in my car Burns oil like old Ford truck.
I'm sure you already know, but traffic to this channel is being heavily throttled. It doesn't even autofill it when I type it in the search bar (it used to a few weeks ago).
Love video and Truck am sure u can buy a seals and bearings are marked look up buy number or some one may sell kit if thats all is bad on steering box is a seal try it out yep its a pain inn ass but 8---50.00 bucks vs 300-500.00 is mucho Pesos LOL Lucas fuel injector cleaner works 2 use it on carbed crap to mix it in 7 gallons max best results use as directed 2 or 3 dose i seen it clean up s10 dirty gummed injectors with in 10-30 mins truck sat for years now i drove it 1 week missing then used that crap fixed it LOL
Considering Lucas oil bought a nearly billion dollar stadium, i think their stuff mostly works. I'm not a big fan of "mechanics" in a can, but their transmission stop slip is truly amazing and might give you months to a year outta a transmission on its last clutches. alot of people with really expensive diesel and gas trucks swear on lucas oil products and the oil itself.
Wix filters are actually VERY good quality! Napa filters are just painted and rebranded Wix filters. Don’t buy Fram garbage. Winston, get aluminum color high heat engine paint! It covers easy, looks great in the bay, lasts
Bypassing the heater core might be a viable option where it doesn't get cold. But in the north, you need to bite the bullet and do it. Depending on the car, it can be an insanely complicated replacement. Air filter box is called an air cleaner
Dodge reversed the locations of the air inlet box and the battery on that engine vs. the Cummins in that truck... what a PITA to close it up around the filter!
I think using a go pro with the head mount would be really good for filming this stuff and there's even a zoom controller you can use when trying to explain the detailed stuff
There's a product called restore that I've had good luck with (oil additive) they sell it in 4, 6, and 8 cylinder can sizes. If you have a higher mileage engine that seeps a little bit of oil, it will help.
I've seen many videos that say restore works..... however they mention NOT to use it in any car that has variable valve timing due to small oil passages... I use it in all my non Variable valve cars (2 of 5)
Usually when the heater core is bypassed it's because the heater box inside the cab is leaking. either on to the passenger side floor or into the glove box.

I used it a few months back and works well, it minimized the leak to the point it is not noticeable or totally gone. Great stuff
Lovin the V10. Hey if the truck thing doesn’t work out drop it in you firebird 😁
Probably run into clearance issues with it if anything.
@@FWDSUXARSE just a joke. The cost of making that work would be, well, expensive at best. 😁
Lucas is "the stuff" used it on my Mitsubishi 13 years ago. Not a single leak, saved me the cost of a rack.
Lucas is typically a good brand. I have used a number of their products.
@CruzRedEye yeh l always use Lucas products on my old Ford. Yes it’s more expensive but I believe using cheaper parts is false economy because they don’t last as long and you just end up spending twice.
I love this thingggggggggggggggg! And the montage of the old commercials and Twister scenes absolutely made my day!
I've used Lucas power steering stop leak, as well, and it worked for me, too. It kept it pretty much leak free for over a year, until I sold it.
I used it since just after the first snow fall here in Northern Alberta, in a 2001 Jeep TJ, and had no issues, it works great. Have the new Power Steering pump sitting in a box but if it can make spring time I'll call it a win.
The heater core is often plugged when a person uses stop leak in the coolant system.
Mine smells like cooked 🥚
Putting power steering stop leak in your coolant system is a pretty bad idea...but so is putting plain power steering fluid in your coolant system.
That might be an idea. If it starts to leak again, he still has some left in the bottle.

Used excessively stop leak will clog the reservoir and fluid will gush out from the filler cap.

works by swelling the seals

Lucas does the job, fixed two hoopties steering rack leaks with one bottle.
You should be using an ohm meter to check resistance of each wire. Too much resistance can kill a coil.
Gotta watch out for those forests, man! Lol.

Usually when the heater core is bypassed it's because the heater box inside the cab is leaking. either on to the passenger side floor or into the glove box.
Lucas makes really good products. If it doesn't work with Lucas don't bother trying other name brands.
AT205 on Amazon is excellent for motor oil/trans oil leak as well.
For five bucks, change the PCV Valve as well. Fill in the black on the "8" on the intake as a nice touch up.
Use black nail polish.... (loved it when he said red nail polish...

Your car has leaks???
Take Lucas products, first on the shelf and this crap actually works... 😂
I Like this truck😊😊🍻
I purchased a Jeep that had the heater core bypassed. I hooked it up and there were no leaks. No Idea why they pulled it.
Stop leak? OK; I'm buying power steering fluid futures.
Most new cars have electric power steering, so it would be like investing in twitter 😉
Lucas is a lot better than the other stuff.
Quick tip: Don't leave products like that in for too long as they will work too well and turn the seals and hoses into mush.
So is better to change the power steering right
I made this airfilter with WIXXX 5/5
10:01 the truck you owned in SA, was it by any chance a VW Bakkie?
A Nissan 1400 bakkie
Did you sign up this channel to your RUclips Partnership Plan? I see no commercials.
This should be good
That brand didnt work in my 68 dodge with steering box seal leak. I used a whole litre!
@Peter Kurten it actually said it was gauranteed to stop leaks. But i bet its only for modern rack and pinion steering?
Replacing the heater core in those are a pain the ass.
Usually they just condition rubber seals
That stop leak will work for a while but it is just a bandaid. Those seals will start leaking again worse than ever.
Usually, trucks are much more enjoyable to work on than cars due to more space.
i would think you see more bypassed heater cores in hotter areas
Is that @laowhy86 singing near the start of this video?
The heater core is in the dash not in the engine compartment.
Sweet
oi oi, winston, lucas stop leaks works ok, its just a plastic seal treatment, soften s them up.
Lucas products aren't crap. Can't say the same for dodge automatic transmissions.
