Great review and assessment after the roll out euphoria of the Deus 2 and people have a chance to catch their breath now. If all the videos of the deus 2 are analyzed by viewers they will see it's head and shoulders above the rest but are you willing to go through a learning curve that may take years of experience for that extra performance and cost...
However, with the Equinox 800 now costing $999 U.S. dollars and all the modifications you need to purchase and poor quality of build of it, the price is nearing a Deus 2.

I have an Equinox 800 and you can definitely create and save customized programs with it. Please make that important correction to your review comparison.
I owned a Deus 1 for less than a year, not knowing when I purchased it that the Deus 2 was nearing final development. I sold my Deus 1 in January so that I could place a prepaid order for a Deus 2. I await delivery. A feature of the Deus 2 that is advantageous over the Nox 800 is that is totally wireless and the remote is removable and pocketable. Also, the cam lock shaft design makes coil changes twice as easy and fast as the Equinox design. The Deus headphone selection and the stand alone removable remote control are miles ahead of the MineLab headphones and stationary remote. The XP pinpointer connects wirelessly with the Deus 1/2 remote and headphones. The Deus 1/2 remote controls can be used to locate a misplaced XP pinpointer, even if it is switched off. The Deus 2 has an ability to locate hoards. I think we shall see this realized in the near future as the number of units in field use increases…no guarantees, but it’s a strong hunch about the built-in capability of the Deus 2 to penetrate very deeply on large targets, especially in low-mineralized soil. We shall see, eh.
The Deus 2 can be configured with the the WS6 headphone control module mounted on the coil shaft as a fully functioning remote control. This means that in the future the Deus 2 might be sold without the remote control and underwater antenna at a significantly lower price for users who don’t need the underwater diving capability.

    • @GRIFFINds
      @GRIFFINds  2 года назад

My comment was to say that there are no blank slots on a Nox to save a program, you have to save it over the top of the existing factory program, meaning you lose that program, unless you reset it. If you reset it you lose your custom program... There's no way to have both.
You won't regret purchasing the Deus 2. It's an awesome machine which is customisable in all these aspects you mentioned. I'm a long term XP user, and this is by far thier best machine.
Enjoy it when you receive yours.
      Thank you for watching 👍⭐

Are you forgetting that there is a user profile button where you can save and customize any single program that you wish?
The following is copied from page 33 of the Equinox 600/800 MineLab Users Manual.
      User Profile*
EQUINOX 800 features an additional User Profile side button that saves a copy of the current detector settings for future quick access.
User Profile stores the set values of all current local settings so that you can access them instantly later.
The default settings for the User Profile are a copy of Park Mode Search Profile 1.
      Save a User Profile
      1. Select the Detect Mode you wish to use as a basis for your User Profile. Adjust the settings you wish to save.
      2. Make sure you are in the Detect Screen, not the Settings Menu.
      3. Press and hold the User Profile button on the right side of the
      control panel.
      4. The User Profile icon on the LCD will begin to flash rapidly. It will then remain on and a rising confirmation tone will sound, indicating that the User Profile has been saved.
You can save over the User Profile at any time by repeating the above procedure.
      Activating the User Profile
Press the User Profile button at any time to re-activate the saved User Profile.
The User Profile icon will appear on the LCD when the User Profile is active.
Any changes made to local settings when the User Profile is active will be saved automatically.
To exit from the User Profile, press either the User Profile button or the Detect Mode button. Settings will return to the last-used Detect Mode Search Profile and the User Profile icon will turn off.

I have used my Nox extensively since 2019 on the beach, in the wet, rain and biggest storms and it has been fine. I tested it in the worst storms to see how it did. I hose it down after every use and I do not wrap it in cotton wool when I am detecting. I am just sending my Deus WS5 headphones back under warranty because they are not holding the charge. So on reliability Minelab wins. As an engineer I would say the Nox is much more ruggedly built than the Deus 1 or 2.
People do break the coil lugs off on the Nox coils by leaning on the detector. The Deus would break instantly if you did that. So advice is to not use the detector as a rest for your body weight. I have 2 Noxes but no Affiliation to any machine. I designed detectors in the late 1960s and early 70s. Yes the Nox is a bit heavier than the Deus’s but I get cracking results with the lighter 6inch and 9.5x5 coils. Also the Nox can be taken straight into the sea but the Deus 2 needs an antennae wire wrapped around it. I might well get a D2 but it needs to have normal wireless over the head headphones and a 9.5x5 elliptical and bigger elliptical coils. And it has to pass my own tests on my test garden and beaches. Deus 2 is lighter than the Nox which is a big plus but there is more faffing around with the D2.
I use mostly the small coils or the 15” elliptical with a bungee to take the weight
But in real dig scenarios which is better?

You have forgotten the game of the two caps: The red and the black one....which is a bad dial for those who want to hunt into the water and on the beach in the same day. unless you remember to change the right cap for the environment. No way, Minelab is superior at the beach, no matter separation or depth.

No problems. The Nox is a great machine. The Deus 2 is just my preference. If I had neither, had the money for both and had to pick between the two, I'd go Deus 2. If I had a Nox already, and enjoyed it, I'd hold on to my £1400, as the differences are not substantial enough to spend that. Thank you so much for watching. 😊

@@GRIFFINds but will it as time passes get tweaked and updated to become even better? The Deus1 wasn’t the beast it is now only 2 months after being released. It took some time to release its full potential so if the D2 is already as good if not better than everything worse out there then surely with new updates and tweaks then it’s going to be a beast?

For me the decision to buy this beauty was driven by 3 major factors....1. the weight for my damaged shoulder....I have swung this all day and not felt a single twinge, whereas my Simplex caused me considerable pain by the end of the day. 2. I loved the idea of customiseable programmes, using MF's, and have loved playing with it. 3. Synching with the pointer & phones (I know the Simplex did this anyway but I wanted to retain this ability). I don't regret the purchase one little bit. Thanks boys, soon be 700+

We went out recently with our mate who had just purchased a D2 and after 5 minutes he shouts, ' I'm going for this it sounds faint and deep' Both myself and bro run over to investigate and neither of us got a squeek. @@GRIFFINds it was the video of the update it is missing a point of the download and installation process, if you notice usually everything you plug into a pc/laptop as to have drivers to make it run, all I kept getting was a rejection message, after 12 hours of trying everything I found for myself that you have to switch the controller on, go into the update page which is shown in the video but you have to initiate the update before the laptop or pc recognises the control unit same with the headset, obviously with the program running and the right selection made, job done lol.

Yeah, I know 🤣. I don't normally swing like that. It was more for the effect. I wasn't expecting to find anything as that field is done to death. It's hard enough talking about my thoughts, while swinging like a non-swimmer in the deep end. 😂 I did go back and dig a couple of signals that I'd heard on the way down. Lol.🤣🤣 Thanks for watching 👍⭐

I don’t believe all the know it alls about your swing. 99.9 percent swing and don’t cover every inch of ground….most don’t know they do it and most don’t care. Ignore the self righteous nob ends. Thanks for the vid 😉👍

You miss targets you swing it like a base ball player low and slow works better and then you miss nothing

Dad said he was only doing it for something to see as he didn't want to show his face much. It's one of our most done fields, so very few good targets left. He did go back and dig a couple which he heard while doing the review. Lol. Henry
