Dude,… if you complete the pendulum cast as you are trying to do,… you can get 250 yards with the setup that you are using … look up pendulum cast…
Personally,… I don’t fish with bait ( not ever)… just lures
If you fish with a heavy bait rig … 250 yards will not happen

I’m strictly conventional when it comes to surf casting… always have since I was 7 years old… I’m 62 now and still castling old school heavers …. but here in the western seaboard… it’s not that popular …, most guys use spinners …. where’s the skill in that…??????
Like I said,… I’m old school and it’s cool to see someone younger casting the same….
Every where I fish … everybody has spinners … I think they’re afraid of the real reel…. Lol
