    I had a great great uncle captured here. He was only 17 and taken to Andersonville and then Florence SC where he died. He was in the NY 76th

    Interesting point- the porch railing pattern is called a “Modified Wheat Sheath balustrade” and has its origins in Roman lattice. You mentioned they grew wheat at one point

    Excellent drone footage, your photographic skills are improving. Thank You for this piece on Ellwood Manor, well done! Note on Chatham Manor: Mary Anna Randolph Lee, wife of Robert E. Lee, through her mother, Mary Lee Fitzhugh Custis, was a Granddaughter of William Fitzhugh, original builder/owner of Chatham.

      @@VATravels You should also check out downtown Chatham VA. Full of historic homes as well as Chatham Hall and Hargrave Military Academy. I lived outside of Chatham for years. Has more of a Deep South vibe than an Upper South one. Check it out!
