- In this video, we're putting our taste buds to the test to see if we can blindly identify which tequilas are additive-free. As true tequila lovers, we know that some brands may add extra ingredients to their tequilas, affecting the taste and purity of this beloved spirit. So, we've gathered 8 different tequilas, some with additives and some without, to see if we can tell the difference purely based on flavor and aroma. Let the challenge begin!

I have to say. Up until recently, when I saw one of your videos on additive free tequila, I hade zero idea about what was going on. Let me just say that I’ve since gone out and purchased a bottle of Lalo, La Gritonas, and a bottle of Fortaleza blanco ( luckily for $65 ). And oh my god. Mind blown. All this time I’ve been in the dark, thinking I loved Tequila. Not realizing that I was drinking garbage. Thank you for opening my eyes to truly great Tequilas. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
Wooooo! This comment right here is what I love to hear. It's such a difference when you finally taste really good tequila. I used to swear I didn't drink tequila because all I had ever experienced was Jose Cuervo gold.

In my opinion, you should do it without knowing what brands were poured.
I agree to a certain extent. The issue is that since this is my restaurant and bar and I film alone I rely on friends to come and help for filming (like Lucas did here) he doesn't know the layout of my bar and the organizations for this video.
I guess what I could've done was put a pool of tequilas off to the side and he could pick from them rather than determining the rounds.

LOL! That’s true what Carlton said that you should have done without knowing which brands are poured cause most likely you already did research or something on those brands and maybe tasted it before as you said it’s your bar…Why do a blind taste test when it’s not really a blind taste test 😂
Good job! You validated what most people should know. People need to stop buying crap overpriced tequila. Plenty of offerings out there that are quality, delicious, and additive-free.

I'd suggest a future video with a double blind: let them a pool of bottles and have them not even make it a 1v1 between additive & non-additive free, only focusing on which one's good and which one isn't at the time you taste them.
Or triangulation where two are the same and one is different and trying to pick the odd one out. Only seen this done with food and NA drinks though.

Even though Volans is one of Felipe's, I don't think it gets enough love. Everyone is different of course, but for me, I prefer Volans to G4.
I love Volans! It's such a great brand and it's underrated IMO as well.

This isn’t a blind test, you knew the brands before testing them. A real blind would be you trying to guess the brands given to you without knowing brands and not stopping the video. Let video run, no edits. Oh yeah and do it live. Now that would take real balls!!
If I did this live it would be an hour and no one would watch it lol. But you make some decent points.
It’s not that type of blind test.. he’s blind tasting between two bottles at a time. Plenty do it this way
The test wasn't to guess the brands but to identify which ones had additives, the method he used was fine.

Lui... Love your Videos... Keep it up... One question, with the Tequila craze happening and Fortaleza the Number 1 bottle everyone is looking for just like bourbon hunting Eagle Rare, Blatons, Buffalo Trace, etc., do you still feel Fortaleza Blanco will be worth the current pricing? I've seen a bottle once in for $99 (i'm in Northern New Jersey) when I've been out bourbon / tequila hunting... I don't see the price ever coming back down to msrp in this current market... So would you still think its worth it at the price i've seen it at? Thanks!!!!!

I always have a hard time with tasting tequila if I drink a beer before hand or I’m trying more than one tequila. The oils from different tequila lingers for awhile. Always drink the expensive tequila first 😊

Once again, nice video. I'm not a huge fan of tequila but so far I've only had Jose Cuervo silver, Patron silver and Espolon reposado. Tell me your honest opinion: if I ever got my hands on one of the tequilas you praise, would I even notice the difference in a cocktail?
Absolutely. Especially if you have only ever had Jose Cuervo silver. The Cimarron inna cocktail vs Jose or even patron. I think would blow you away

Good Job. I was surprised that you did not tell the crap Tequilas just from the smell. I was given to understand the the additives have a very sweet smell. But then I don't drink celebrity Tequila.
Not all of them have a strong aroma. And the thing about tasting is that I should've cleansed the palate more. You can shock your taste buds and sense and it gets difficult hahaha

If you could only choose one tequila under$100, that isn't Fortaleza ( because it seems impossible to find right now), which one would you choose?
Under $100. I'd say G4, El Tesoro, or even El Tequileño

Are you brave enough to do a blind taste test ranking without knowing which tequilas you're being served?
Four out of Four isn't bad at all. I've never had the celebrity Tequila and will make sure I stay away. However, I have been partial to Jose Cuervo 100% Tradicional® Reposado when I can't afford a bottle of El Tesoro Reposado Tequila.

I think round 3 says it all... not hard to identify casamigos or a tequila you taste on a daily basis....
next time, just pour one at a time and tell us if you think it has additives or not?

It's not hard to tell the difference in flavors, the issue is too many people drink tequila to take shots and be wasted. After the first 2 shots your palette doesnt taste the same. Stop chasing whats popular.
Ok cool video... Bbuuuutt I'm gonna gut punch ya... It's not "blind or double blind when knowin them beforehand" ok technically you can't see, so you are blind but bein told this is a "Big Mac and a Whopper, take a bite now, which burger is from McDonald's?" But hey still great job
This is a COMPLETE BS trick- as you know which bottles you have to choose from in advance.. pretty easy to distiguish. Better if you do a line up of 5 random bottles with a few non-additive in there.. and see if you can tell the difference. All from same type.. like blanco, rep, etc. Choosing between 2 that you KNOW about.. is too easy.
