  • I’ve been using the YZ250x for a few months now in Hard Enduro riding, and I’ve gotten questions about the bike.
    In this video I go over the downfalls of this machine, and things I recommend doing on the aftermarket side to make this bike more capable.
    I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions feel free to comment below or DM me on Instagram! unqualified2rid...

    I did hard enduro on YZ x for 3 years. The main problem you can't over come is the shitty 5 spd transmission. First isn't low enough and 5th isn't high enough. You can put a 300 kit in it, an electric starter, bla bla bla, but you still can't get around that transmission! And that goes for the new Fantic too! My hard enduro riding has gotten so much better since I got on a KTM. Yes I miss the YZ suspension, but everything else I don't miss. I also found the clutch side engine case super easy to damage with rocks. It seems to stick out more than a KTM. I even punched a hole through the Rekluse cover and they are really strong.

    I’ve always thought that clutch fade was a symptom of friction and drive plate heat rather than actuation method. No doubt hydraulic actuators are much easier to maintain actuation force regardless of environmental factors but it doesn’t help with fade (just ask my hydraulic driven clutch on my HD 😏)
    Does the yz250x still have the 1 touch cable adjuster the old bikes had?

    • @Unqualified2ride
      @Unqualified2ride  8 месяцев назад

      Not sure what the one touch adjuster is but mine can be adjusted by just a knob super easy. And yea I’m not a engine mechanic or engineer but I thought clutch fade was from the heat and the cable clutch dosnt dissipate heat and adjust for clutch fade

    • @TheStephenspann27
      @TheStephenspann27 6 месяцев назад

      The hydrualic clutch doesn't effect the fade at all, it just compenates for it automatically vs the cable which does not.

      I don’t think they care. But they should. The market for hard enduro is growing and growing fast.
      A YZ300x with electric start, hydro clutch, 6 REAL enduro gears, and a stator is what they need to make. It would sell like hot cakes. I mean even if they kept the 250 engine but updated it and kept it under $11k. It would demolish the euro bikes

    You could use this bike for hard enduro but the real question it why? 250, cable clutch, no estart, power valve. People want to make a statement I guess? Why not get a used Husky, Beta, KTM or Sherco if budget is a thing. So many carb or fuel injected bikes out there that are such nicer bikes. I don't get it but I know some people just want to be different or whatever.

    • @Unqualified2ride
      @Unqualified2ride  7 месяцев назад +1

      For me it was the cost of it used. I picked it up for a DEAL. No decent KTM 300 would’ve come close. And it being a 250 has nothing todo with it being good at hard enduro or not. I rode a TE150 and it was amazing in the hard stuff. The reliability of these mechanical parts on it and Yamahas history is a legit reason as well. Same as parts availability and price of said parts. Used KTM 300s near me even the carb ones are 2k more and usually beat up and not maintained well compared to this. So for me it worked.

    • @midgetmoney1
      @midgetmoney1 7 месяцев назад +1
