- Welcome to another video in the Come Fly With Me series. This is episode 4 and I will guide you through the FMS preperation.
****************************************************************************************************** It has come to my attention that the AKANU arrivals in Munich or no longer current. If you have updated the AIRAC yourself you will therefore not find this arrival in Munich anymore and I suggest you just go directy towards the ILS08L or try to find a plausible RW routing.
If you do not understand anything of what I just said; fear not. The AS CRJ is delivered with a navigational database that still has the AKANU arrival so you can just follow the video.

As a side note, I have to tell you that you will probably scratch your head when you see the reflections on the inside of the glass of the PFD somewhere in this video. Up to now I am the only tester that sees this under certain odd angles, so it is in no way representative of the final product. Actually, I think Hans is just messing with me....

lucky you. nothing about my flight plan jived with this guide. entering a simple flightplan over the canadian border is damn near impossible to do without "not found" errors for basic airways.

I've just found your channel, its excellent, thank you so much for your CRJ tutorials. I have subbed. I am having some issues with the FMS though, I am trying to fly from LGAT to LTBS, I have NaviGraph (which I have pushed into the CRJ from the website), however, when i am entering the airways for this route, the FMS constantly displays "not found", I've tried both SimBrief AND NaviGraph for routing, but every time, FMS shows not found. Any ideas? I at least expected the FMS to be able to route using NaviGraph (since supposebly the data is in there). It was really disappointing. If you could give me some tips on what you would do, when flying routes that aren't in the DB, that would be hugely appreciated. I am using OnAir app and don't always have the luxury of size 5 airports. Thanks again for great content.
If the DB does not know the airway you have to manually enter the waypoints that make up the airway. It could also be that there is a missmatch between AIRACs, meaning the database used are not the same.
Am I able to use simbrief as a downloaded OFP report to copy the information to the aircraft ( Basic flight information such as Cruise, Fuel, Weight, Route, ETC)? is that what you used for the video with the pop up screen on display? By the way awsome video! definately will use this series when the CRJ goes live
Yes, that is what I did. You can use Simbrief and enter everything from the OFP manually into the EFB and CDU. No auto import yet.
Wonderful video. What program/site do you use for flight plan? Simbrief? In your video 1 page contains a lot of info... Simbrief plans have tons of pages... a bit confusing....
I also have Simbrief but use the DLH layout for the briefing package, I find it very easy to use.
Can you not enter the flight ID on the radio tuning unit on the center pedestal? That's what we do on our CRJs.

But I have to ask about your SimBrief settings because I cannot get the same format as you.
I've pretty much found everything i need but some I am not sure of.
Did you set the passengers to 62 and the cargo to 700kg within SimBrief?
I used the DLH format for this video and only entered a ZFW of 26,7

Question, do you know if it supports direct import from Simbrief for the flight plan? Or it requires manual entry of all legs?
It does not support it yet due to MSFS constraints. Sometime in the future this will be an option though.
@@Flyer0245 Thanks for the reply! Thats a shame, I guess I better be prepared to work that keypad :P Both the A32NX and CJ4 mods support simbrief import so hopefully the CRJ will get it too before long.
I prefer to string the flight plan from the CDU. The SimBrief import never works correctly for me in the CRJ, there is the Asobo extra legs and User issue.

i do not get the same info on the fms it is imposible to enter the data, they show in yellow data not found????? i try to do the same but it is not the same info showing???

You can use any viewpoint you like.

I took the values from the AS Tutorial manual and inserted them in Simbrief and the onboard EFB.

Hi F, it's Nyxx, Q for you please, in this vid at the end you use the EFB and copy perf init data to FMS, that as you show means re-entering the CRZ alt and ALTN CRZ ALT, do you think since your not the only lazy one :) could the EFB be filled in first, then the FMS, so your ending could be moved to the beginning? and not filling in the perf init page again? Thank you.
Hey Nyxx, you do not have to re-enter the altitudes. I just used a new FMS setup for this part of the video and did not enter anything in the perf page yet.

Does it simulate pressing a letter once then getting 3 or 4 to populate in the scratchpad? Yes I wanted to enter FL2800..... And then misses a key and surprise we only have 400 lbs of fuel, not 4000... And can we get an ear splitting SEL CAL every five minutes on the ground?
I asked the dev to actaully make that an option yes. The double/triple/quadruple entry when pressing a key once is a real CRJ trademark!
If you make a flight plan from the main menu, will it auto populate the FMS?
I don't think so. Which is unfortunate. 🙁
I wish it had an option to do so.
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 Can confirm I wasnt having luck having the FMS auto populate. I keep getting "not in database" when I enter whats on simbrief for me yet it shows the waypoint in MSFS.
@@johnboo941 Yah I think you have to do it manually. Which again is unfortunate. It's a real mood killer having to program the FMS every time. It's why MSFS has a nice flight planner in the first place.
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 You can save simbrief routes and just import it into the FMS which saves tons of time and is how pilots do it basically anyways.
no and thjis is ridiculous, why recopy just a sheet a soft print for you?
Another question hiw did you make the displays pop up on the screen? and how did you get out of the plane for the walkaround?
Screen pop up should be R ALT and mouse clicking it. I used the drone camera for that.

How do you scroll through the waypoints along the flightplan to make sure that they are all correct on the MFD?
You can use the NEXT PAGE button on the CDU and scroll through the LEGS page or you can select the MFD PLAN mode and use to MFD ADV key on the CDU and you will see the option to go through the waypoints on the MFD.

Great tutorial. Unfortunately. No matter what state I'm in. As soon as I click "Set Payload In Simulator. The airplane screen goes blank and the plane crashes. Very unfortunate.

Does the EFB calculate FLX Temps for us in the Aerosoft CRJ?
Unfortunately no.
Is this the same CDU as CJ4? Looks almost identical. I'm comparing aircraft to aircraft, not the sim default to this one. Could be they're using same CDU manufacturer?
Same manufacturer, Rockwell-Collins, so they share quite a bit of the UI. I believe the avionics suite in the CRJ is a little more capable than the ProLine in the Citation, but there are similarities.

It must be very frustrating that the AKUNU3A arrival disappeared right after you released. It might be helpful to say something about this somewhere, because I was assuming it was a problem on my end, not the fact that I had up-to-date AIRINC data.
Yeah, Airac updates can be a b*tch when it comes to tutorial videos. Thanks fot the heads up though. I will make a note about it in the video information.
I have a prescription to NAVGRAPH so how do I update the AIRAC?
You should ask Navigraph that, it is their product. But I guess their FMS data manager would do the trick.
Does anyone know how to clear speed/altitude restrictions in the LEGS page of the FMS? Tried to use the DEL key but get INVALID ENTRY message..
This does not work at the moment. The dev thought that was not possible IRL. Suffice it to say it will be fixed though.

So I am having an issue with my Autopilot. I followed step by stem but I keep getting the same issue, my plane will not follow the flight plan. It shows on the map, I'm on FMS 1. I just am not sure what else to do.
Does the AP engage? Do you see the AP text in the upper left part of the PFD attitude indicator?
@@Flyer0245 Yes, I do. It will follow altitude. but if I hit Nav it's just flying straight even though I see my NAV course

Can't figure out why my FMS keeps saying "not in database" for the points simbrief recommends me flying. :( Can't even get off the ground.
There is probably a database missmatch between your Simbrief and the CRJ database (AIRAC). THe CRJ DB is the most current one and probably does not have some of the waypoints Simbrief still uses. The only solution here would be to get (buy) an actual AIRAC DB for Simbrief or use a different flightplanning tool.

@@CMBelite-FR Maybe so, but "study level" is not what the majority are looking for. This aircraft and detail is going to be a game changer, in having just the right amount of complexity for the mass market.. You will likely be waiting another year for "Study Level"
@@cliver7596 yes it's a game changer for msfs 2020, i just hope the flight dynamic are accurate especially the ground effect in flare, because the grouns effect in msfs2020 is a real joke, so i hope they find a way to overide msfs default one

No it is not. But if you want to fly in an IFR environment you need external sources or write down the MSFS suggested routing.

How did you access that flight plan sheet? Because I'm not sure where to find the flight plans.
You have to use external programs like Simbrief (google it). There you can create a flightplan and export it to PDF like in the video.

How about takeoff speeds? V1,vr,v2
Those are part of another video. There is no V speed entry into the CRJ CDU.
It is done as explained from the speed cards or you use the EFB, which has an option to transfer calculated results into the display.
Was wondering the same, since I'm so used to Boeings...

There is, called the Simbrief downloader.
I use simbrief downloader all time, but I didn't see the option in this, at least what he showed, to load a route...
Big tip that most people don't do, if you type the route, you only need to enter the first waypoint until the airways on the left side .. then only enter the next airway on the left. Most people will give themselves extra work by typing waypoints on the right for each airway they join/leave. You can ignore this, there's only 1 point where 2 lanes will cross and your FMC knows this.
Using this method you can plan right until the last airways, where of course you must specify the waypoint you'll jump off, usually into your star.
@@CameTo Maybe you do not see the option since the aircraft is not released yet, and Simbrief need to know where the FPL needs to go. This feature exist for previous versions of the CRJ and I am certain it will be implemented with this one as well.
I'd prefer to string the flight plan myself. I've seen strange extra waypoints and "User" waypoints whenever I try to use an imported plan from SimBrief. That's in the CJ4 (with the mod) of course.
@@davidh7280 It happens rarely, usually when a airac cycle edits out or renames an old fix. I'm gonna hazard a guess that for every 10 flights I get 1 missing waypoint and every 50 flights I get one out of place.
I don't mind typing a few in, but it gets a bit fiddly.

No, there is no option for it yet. It is an MSFS restriction that hopefully will be correctly in the future.

Because instead of releasing new models and airports, make the FMC of the airplanes work in FS2020, can't they? We do not need visual flights if not instrumental flights, the FMC do not work, they do not give speed and altitude.

@@benjaminmenken5693 Aha, if you have a route pre-planned/saved already you can type in the identifier here and it will load. For how to save a route best look in the manuals, I am sure they explain it there.

tell me why MSFS can't just input this data? what's so advanced that hard waypoints can't be imported? seems to be a bug with this craft; or just lazy.
Due too the WASM coding the CRJ is in a "sandbox" and can not communicate with the "outside" world. This means simbrief auto inserts and MSFS flightplan imports do not work (yet). This is an Asobo restriction. If the CRJ FMS does not accept airways and/or waypoints this is because they are not in the AIRAC, which reflected RW 2 weeks ago.
I'm so disappointed by buying this Plane, Why? Don't get me wrong is such a beautiful work done by these people but in all reality what AEROSOFT missed to understand (At least with this model) is that Flight Simulator foremost "IS STILL A GAME", yes, I get it, sophisticated enough for real "PILOTS" to enjoy the GAME, but for people like me, which I'm sure I represent a HUGE AUDIENCE, for this amazing game, that love airplanes but don't know much about aviation, that would expect to install the plane, set up a couple of buttons (LIKE ALL THE PLANES CURRENTLY UNDER NATIVE FLIGHT SIM 2020 HANGAR) and just FLYYYYY. The plane is sooooooooo technical that unless you are a pilot, and I mean a pilot is just impossible to fly, Do I have to take a course in order to fly this game? Do I have to buy a log book with it? What part of the word GAME has AEROSFOT missed???. So sad.....
