You’re an ANGEL for this video, I made my first balaclava following your other video and right after I bought some thicker yarn (kinda like the one your using in this video) and then a few days later you uploaded this. Thank you so much for your content!!! You explain everything so well ❤️
Thank you for this video. I wanted a chunky bunny ear crochet balaclava but all the ones i could find were dropshippers. A friend sent me a link to your video and after 3 tries (wrong yarns) I now have the perfect chunky bunny ear balaclava. and i made it myself! I now want to try crocheting a blanket, my friends gifted me a whole bunch of crochet sticks and yarn. Thank you for my new hobby!
aw 🥹🥹✨✨ that’s amazing congrats on not quitting!!! I bet yours looks pretty good too ❤ Your friends r great!!! Have fun :D i love this craft ❤❤ have a nice day
This pattern is AMAZING! Also a great tutorial, thank you for going through and showing each step so clearly. I'm so excited about my new balaclava. I used a yarn with a gradient blue color and it turned out super cool. I'm a new forever fan
I used this tutorial to make Finn's hat from Adventure Time. I didn't add the ears later i kinda free handed them on top before closing it up. So it's more in a rectangular shape rather than smooth and swirly top. I'm satisfied with the end results. One recommendation tho, because i closed the top with regular slip stich, my hairline is a bit visible. If you don't want any hair sticking out try it on with the top part closed with some pins. Then see if it's to your liking. It's been a fun journey but also it was my first hat/balaclava so the first one was too big i had to unravel the whole thing. One more tip for measuring the desired widht, chain over 30 then put on your nose then around your head. This way you can guarantee that its gonna fit all the way. And lastly if it's your first try don't use delicate yarn. Mine was like brushed acrylic and it left so much lint on my work area, because i unraveled it 3 times😅
@@kiarashooks444 thank you 🌸 I'm using crocheting to take a break from life. Also being able do things to your liking is providing me with endless dopamine 🙃. Great tutorial btw. It requires less yarn than my first attempt balaclava. Now I have almost 2 balls of yarn left which is amaaaziiing
@@reyskywalker1083 hahahah i hear you on that dopamine!!! But yeah its nice to just relax and make something cute! we all gotta enjoy life some more forsure 💚🍀🌱🍃 glad to hear ur actively doing it
Hi! I want to try and make this balaclava as it look stunning (but adapt it to my motorcycle helmet). I would like the first two rows of the base to be smaller than the main body of the balaclava so that it doesn't fly off when speeding and it's a bit more snug on the neck. Shall I just do a gradual increase like you do the decrease of the top (so let's say - made up numbers - I start with a a 40 stitches chain increasing to 44 by the time I'm at the base of the helmet, so when the chin starts? I don't know if this makes sense hahah but thank you in advance!
@@lauragiacobbe6018 right!!! I’m not 100% sure and haven’t tested out a proper pattern for motorcycle helmet!! So be careful none the less :) But yes!! You can do as you mentioned. you can increase in areas you want it snug and then less snug. The finish look of the balaclava shouldn’t be affected too much by some increases! Best luck!!!
@@kiarashooks444 that’s great! I’ll try and let you know if it works! I’ll add cat ears and make into a cat helmet cover 🐈⬛ if it’s decent looking I’ll send you a picture!
Thank you. I bought a pattern on utube to crochet a bear balaclava but the head is too pointy. It looks like crocheting from the bottom to top works best. Thank you.
Can you tell us what stitch you used to do this? I am a very new (few days) crocheter and trying to keep with what stitches I've learned! Great video!!!
Hihi 🤍 you’d have to add more stitches for a ski helmet! I am a 6.5 wide head (from the top angle) I was asked to make a tutorial for a ski helmet!! I am working on it too
@@WeHaveToWin I'm sorry for the delay! I literally didn't think I could figure out some steps. But I am literally filming it right now!!! I'm giving it my best shot and hopefully it's up in the next day or 2 :) THANK YOU for your patience
Yeah the opening will be bigger - it will appear to be more spacious. However, make sure that you are counting/doing the same number of stitches each row. Unless you are adding stitches
I just tried it and i find that when i wrap the yarn on my hook right to left - it holds the yarn better. When i wrap the yarn : left to right - it kind of slips off my crochet hook easier! Hope that helps 🩷
@@kiarashooks444 thank you. I also seem to do things backwards like when you flipped it and started in the inside.I start doing it on the inside and the outcome seems the same idk if changes anything lmk if you think it does change it
Also do you do a one of the small chains on the beginning of every row? Because i know in the the first row you said for your method you chain up one there.
@@laidedemdown7954 you shud be fine. And also i dont crochet the traditional way 🤣 im really self taught and so if my method doesnt work exactly like yours - thats fine. As long as it becomes what ur trying to make :D
Because the first row it fit my head but the 2 and 3rd row it doesn’t fit my head anymore so I’m confused should I start over or? Keep going plzzz help this is a gift !!
Hihi!! :) okay - so yeah, the first measurement should also fit around ur head area. If you are pulling it over your head first - the neck area should be wide enough. Maybe the 2nd and 3rd rows arent fitting because you are decreasing by accident. Once nce you finish one row - make sure you are doing a slip stitch into the beginning of the 1st row & then chaining up one - then doing a double crochet stitch (or your choice of stitch) into the top of the first stitch - of the first row. Make sure you try that! Let me know if that works. :)
hey hey!! If you use the thick yarn like me - it should take 1 day. If you use a smaller yarn - 2-3 days! It also depends on how new you are to crochet.
Literally the easiest way I’ve seen. A clear step by step. I love it doll

Is the opening supposed to get bigger the more rows I add? My first row fits just fine but the rest are just progressively getting bigger 😵💫
