    Beautiful. When Mercedes was Mercedes. I have professionally detailed cars since 1978. There is no car with better paint than Mercedes Benz of the 1980s. I was never afraid of burning through the finish of these cars. Scott is highly skilled. People have no idea of how much work it is to do a perfect paint correction. Just stunning work here. I want this car in my collection.

      Thank you I really appreciate the kind words. Scot is definitely a master at his craft. He has 40 years experience. There was no one better.. Yoda

    Like I said in the video uploaded a year ago, y'all are doing the Lord's work! I absolutely love these classic Mercedes. I'm sure y'all make Luke from DieselPumpUK proud too! I need one of y'alls cars in my life. I had an 82 300TD that I unfortunately didn't know what the hell I had and actually gave it away for nothing. Once I understood what I'd done, years later, I've been kicking myself in the head ever since! 🤣
    I signed up for inventory updates and hopefully I can be able to get one of these so I can stop kicking myself.
    On a side note do y'all ever watch MercedesSource'dv channel here on yt? That guy does some phenomenal work too and has a bunch of custom tooling also.

      @@woodsandbarclayVery nice! Thanks for the reply for sure! I'll be looking out for it. I see what I can secure. Can I get a deal if I trade what's left of a tattered soul and slightly abused kidney? 🤣

      @@woodsandbarclay I'm still looking, but the one I'll find will look very used with faded paint and such. Probably tonnes of kilometers on it.
      I don't care as long as it was maintained and runs. It can look old and shabby. That has character to it as well.

    I own the twins to this car: a 1984 300SD and a Euro 1985 500SEL, both in Midnight Blue on Palomino leather from the factory. But neither of them are as mint as this one!

    Sludge on the tach sensor? I had that same problem with a Ford F350.

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  Год назад

      No it's not sludge on the tack. The engine has been decreased and his spotless. Sometimes the 85 models are like this because they have an OVP relay and when you initially crank the car sometimes it takes a second for that thing to click on.

      That's midnight blue paint code 904. The most popular classic Mercedes paint color. Everybody wants a midnight blue car!

    Since you know these so well : For someone that would like to make their 300D interior quieter like an SD, what would you advice be?
    I did hoodpad so far... :)

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  3 месяца назад +1

      Well a 300D really will never be as quiet as an SD because an SD has way more insulation. What you could do is remove all of the interior and lay down insulation all throughout the car and then re-install the interior. We use dynamat to do this on an old muscle cars.

    • @Altanox
      @Altanox 3 месяца назад +1

      @@woodsandbarclay that was indeed my second idea. Insulate the floor and doors. Do you know if the roof is insulated on the SD? Because if you hit the roof on a w123 from the outside, it resonates a lot.

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  3 месяца назад +1

      I have never checked by removing the headliner but I'm sure there is insulation on the roof. That is where all the heat from the sun hits.

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  Год назад +1

      @@zYGhostXVI the factory didn't ship those rims on your car. They should be 14 inch bunts. It also says turbo diesel on the back. Wheels you're referring to came out in 1986.

    • @zYGhostXVI
      @zYGhostXVI Год назад

      @@woodsandbarclay damn really? Because my vehicle was imported from Europe, I don’t know if maybe that’s why? Or they just rebadged the car and only placed “turbo” on the back

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  Год назад +2

      @@zYGhostXVI Most likely someone changed your wheels and your original badge. The 300sd was in North America only vehicle they were not sold in Europe. They were imported from the manufacturer to the United States.
