M3 Pro\Max chips this year are really geared for 3D artists more than video editors and for good reason as its been a forgotten user segment that is mostly dominated by PC users using Nvidia studio laptops and desktops. If you're a 3D animator that wants to come back to the Mac than pick the M3 Pro/Max over M1 or M2 anything because of the new gpu architecture and much needed support for hardware accelerated raytracing which isn't available on previous M Series chips. Especially if you use gpu rendering in your workflow via Redshift and Unreal Engine 5.2 and above. Gamers and 3D professionals finally getting some acknowledgment which is refreshing. Still waiting for someone to review the M3 Pro vs a 40 series GPU in 3D content creation workflows.
Just upgraded from a Mid 2013 MacBook Air, Intel i7, 8GB Ram, 512SSD to a MacBook Pro M3 Pro, 18GB Ram, 1TB SSD. Much needed upgrade; my plan for the air is to wipe it clean and install windows 10 on it.
Quick question mate! Been wavering between the top M3 PRO chip with 36 gb of ram and the base 14 inch M3 max. The price difference is $300 (I have the education discount) so at that point I'm like I may as well just get the max, exactly how apple gets you haha. My main use case will be editing and grading 4.2.2 10 bit footage in resolve + extensive education use. Really would love your insight!
Haha yes that’s Apples grand plan. That’s how they get ya. Tbh based on your use case the pro should be ample. You could use the 300 for accessories or save it.
I am very excited to upgrade in a few weeks to the Macbook Pro M3 Pro! Writing this comment on my 12 year old (!) 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (back in the day it was the first time Steve Jobs introduced the retina display) which i bought when starting college in 2012 for a wopping 2700 euros of student money. What a journey it has been for me with this device! It stood with me during my 6 years of college, i wrote my master thesis with this laptop, i wrote my girlfriend (now wife)'s master thesis with this laptop, i started my first wedding photography business with this laptop around 2018 which made me a ton of money and now currently my wife is using this laptop for her own baby photography business that she started and she still using this laptop for professional photoshop editing! UNBELIEVABLE. It's crazy to look back on the journey! But it's time to move on, I am sure the Macbook Pro M3 Pro will be worth every penny over the long run too and i hope to write a similar comment in 2036!!
Hi there, this was an incredible video! I love your outline, and very honest and rational approach. You hit the nail on the head with each segment, and I really appreciate the pacing and video production. I will definitely subscribe, and look for your reviews in the future. Great job.
Thanks for the review. Thinking of buying this comp for my partner for Christmas. I think I’m still gonna go ahead with it, my mind if fairly set, but I appreciate your input! I’ve found it difficult to find too many review on this model specifically. Keep doin ya thing fam 🙏🏾
Took me sooo long to decide between the M3 Pro and M3 Max 16 inch. I decided Imma go with the M3 Pro because I would be saving about 1200CAD. With that, I can upgrade my existing PC to be far better than the M3 Max in terms of graphics.
That’s actually a great decision. The m3 max upgrades are quite niche in terms of performance you’ll actually notice over the m3 pro. Putting that money instead into a pc build will be a solid addition!
Agree, the pro is the perfect spot. For the money, yes, you could get a dedicated gaming machine or well upgrades. The pro is a perfect machine, still powerful but work related, and powerful. Apple in gaming terms, I believe, is about 3-5 more years away. That's that's only if they play cards right with developers and price points of the Pros. Even the m3 pro 16inch is very average for gaming wise. Apple hasn't been good with games in a long long time, no devs really optimise for them yet. That's the one I got, too :) and i love it, tho, and kills windows with a battery-powered machine. Off the cord, it does awesome for working! I was actually surprised. I'm used to having to have my laptop plugged in, as most windows laptops for full power use a hybrid type system. They pull from battery and cord at the same time and want you to have 80% or more battery for it. 16 inch is amazing, in my opinion, 14 is only worth it if you are a select few that need it smaller for airports, etc. People I see with 14s use an external monitor mostly, so not even they use 14. 16 is a perfect size where the screen itself it large enough for working
@@Everyday-man yeah I would for sure go for the 16 inch as well. I was using the 13 inch 2019 MBP for portability. And then dual 27inch monitors at home, smolness of the 13 inch makes me feel so unproductive lol. I was only thinking of going for the M3 max in case I do machine learning or AI image/video generations on the go. But I decided to just leave those tasks for my PC instead.
I never owned a MB or a MBP, only have worked with pc's so far. now some people are suggesting that investing the same or even less money in a pc may end up in a better result rather than spending so much money for a MB. But then again is it not that Apple computers benefit from the reputation that they keep up with the technology much longer than pcs? So is investing in a 3000 Euro MBP not the better solution, if instead I may get a similar good pc laptop for (much) less, maybe 2000?
@@trezegol2007 I personally don't think investing in a windows laptop will get you more than what MacBooks have to offer. Only time I can think of is when it comes to gpu tasks, windows laptops with dedicated GPUs are the way to go. But everything other than that, I feel that a MacBook would do better at than a windows laptop. I use Linux for programming, windows for game development and gaming, and mac for portability. I've decided not to go for the M3 max simply because I already have a system at home that can handle any of the GPU heavy tasks required. M3 Pro would be enough for all my other tasks, even the ones that require graphics, but just not do it as well as my PC with a dedicated GPU would. I do suggest you invest in a good MBP if you don't absolutely need the power of a dedicated GPU system.
Hey so I am upgrading my 2015 MacBook Pro and am super excited. I've been playing around with some not so advanced video editing for a possible social media channel. Not looking at anything 3d. Pretty amateur stuff but I just want to make sure I have enough machine for what I will be doing. I definitely want to move in to the new MacBook pro M3 Pro. Which spec would you recommend for what I am going to be doing?
What do you think about saving 300$ and just getting the M3 instead of the M3Pro for us of personal light editing on Adobe Premier? I have a 2016 Mac Book Pro with Intel chip and it works fine for me. The only issue is its 8 years old and I am looking for a new computer to upgrade. I like the MBPro as it has the external card slot instead of the Air model....any thoughts?
make sure you look at adobe premiere minimum requirements as you need a decent amount of memory to even open the app. For a pro level computer, 36gb is the lowest I would go. For most, the max is overkill.
How much RAM do you recommend for a photography workflow with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop on the new MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip? I work with RAW photos with 40+ megapixels. Are there any workflows where choosing 48GB would be better than 24GB?
Tausif, would the M3 Pro be good enough for school, e-commerce, and possibly dabbling in photo and video editing over the next few years? I’m trying to talk myself out of the Max because even though I like going max spec everything (more important to me on a phone than a computer), I just don’t see myself using it to the extent the Max was designed for. Money isn’t an issue either, but if I don’t need to spend it, I won’t lol Edit: I know an M2 Air is good, but I want the better display lol
I code and even record videos and do 1080 Livestream for an AI chatbot on a 2013 MacBook pro. You don't need the Max xD. For light workloads you might even profit more from the higher number of efficiency cores.
I'm looking to purchase my first Apple MacBook, and I'm interested in learning video editing using software like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe After Effects. Additionally, I want to dive into photo editing with Lightroom and Photoshop and then start my youtube channel. I'm aiming for a laptop that will last me at least 3-4 years. Currently, I'm using a Windows laptop for simple tasks like Word, Excel, and web browsing. Any recommendations or advice on which MacBook model would suit my needs best?
I just ordered the M3 Pro 14" coming from a 2019 16" Intel I7 and I am expecting a pretty significant upgrade. I couldn't pass it up with an $820 trade in credit.
I really want to buy a MacBook, but I don't know if it's worth the money, and if I need its power. I am a student, studying to be a programmer, I am fond of photography and video. I would like to be sure that the laptop can cover any of my needs, or possible future hobbies. Which MacBook do you recommend? or any laptop at all. In my country, the MacBook air m3 16/512 and the MacBook pro m3 pro 18/512 cost the same money ($1,700).
I bought the M3 pro and compared it to my M1 pro and didn’t see any difference, so I returned the M3 pro, I really wanted the black Mac but color isn’t enough to upgrade.
Finally upgrading from my 13” 2018 Intel MacBook Pro to this beauty. I chose the base 14” M3 Pro chip in, of course, space black. Got it for $1500 after trading in that Intel Macbook! Cheaper than the M2 Pro and base M3.. can’t go wrong!
Nice review, made my decision move from MBA 15 to the MBP 14. MBP should be nice as well, but I carry the Mac with my everyday on the metro, bus, so....
Excellent review, thank you for the honest and solid perspective. I'm a Windows user for a long time now but have everything else in the Apple ecosystem. Looking to upgrade my daily driver to a Macbook and think that this fits the bill. Thanks!
I’m a photographer. I got 64 RAM so the computer will meet my needs for a while. I’m upgrading from a 2019, older than M1 and the computer is having trouble. I will keep this one until it is having trouble and given the cost, I hope that is five years.
Really informative video! I have a 2019 16” MBP, 8C/16GB w/1TB and am looking to upgrade. Definitely want 16”, but am conflicted about the best configuration: M3 Pro 12CPU/18GPU/36GB w/2TB or jumping to the M3 Max with 14CPU/30GPU/36GB w/2TB. Neither are inexpensive, but want to make sure I really see the difference if I’m spending over $3000 on an upgrade. Thanks!
Please help me, I am confused between Legion 9i and M3 Pro Max 36 GB 1TB varaint. I have no problem regarding the price, and both the OS are ok for me. I use a few VM for ethical hacking apart from these I program and also do video edits. Please recommend which one will be worth.
Please recommend the best MacBook Air or Pro for someone like me who is a PhD History student, and who has been getting by with my 2015 MacBook Pro with 512GB. I have 190GB still available, and iCloud subs. I don’t play games or edit videos but I work with PDFs and Safari all day long. Please help me choose the best option while maintaining a sensible budget. I am not in the habit of buying new devices; I only upgrade when I have to and my laptop struggles a little at the moment. Thank you for your very informative video. I hope you will give me your advice.
interesting-m1max with higher levels of ram and 2-4 tb of ssd. but the issue with that is wear and tear, those computers are old, so the battery cycle counts are high
The advice that I read is for photographers who work with large raw images and panoramic photos in LR Classic / Photoshop is to opt for the 36 GByte model in the M2 Pro line though one higher level Pro mentioned that he would opt for the Max version for these use-cases. Certainly folks in the data science / machine learning fields for example would want to opt for the Max version with plenty of RAM. I myself may wait for the M3 Max Studio.
I do tons of light room and photoshop editing professionally and honestly I was fine with even a MacBook Air lol. These machines are ridiculously powerful!
@@TausifHussainwhat files do you work with within LR Classic? I'm using a 2020 M1 13" MBP and it can be painfully slow to load at times working with my Canon R5 45mp compressed raw files. Things like zooming in to 100% or 200%, using the clone/heal tool, etc. I'll click to zoom and wait several seconds for it to respond and render. I'll click an area with the heal tool and wait several for it to process. Even when brushing (masking) sometimes the brush can't keep up with slow movements and lags behind then brushes into the wrong area. Have you noticed any substantial differences in this regard between the M2/M3 chips?
I was looking to replace my M1 MBA 13 8/256 2020. It was 3 years old and sold it for $440 to online retailer. I settled on the MBP 14 M3 18/512 that was on sale for $1799 as best bang for the buck.. Also happened to have $420 cash back on credit cards so that's a total of $860 off. So I guess it depends on how you look at it. I love the MBP 14 M3 Pro. Even if you aren't maxing out the capabilities for the MBP, the screen, sound, ports, and how snappy it is doing routine stuff is still worth it if you don't mind the slightly heavier weight compared to a MBA 13. I'm not sure how much more you would want to spend on a laptop, but 36GB or ram for extra $400 would still be a good value. I still have a PC workstation that I used most of the Adobe Suite on professionally, FCP, Maya, but I probably wont be using professional creative programs in next 3 years, as my business is a lot of everything and the basic photo editing and decent camera and lenses is sufficient for what I'm doing, and if I get back into any creative projects the MBP M3 Pro will have a lot of options and capabilities. And if you are already deep into professional creative workflow you already know what you need.
I managed to use literally ice packs on a 2013 MacBook for streaming. For streaming you need live encoding plus the workload for the thing you actually want to stream. So in that case M3 Pro might be the right choice.
Is it worth to upgrade from MBP 16” mid 2019- intel i7 16gb 512gb to MBP 14” m3 pro 18gb 512gb? Or go old version like m2 pro or M1 Max .. my work on Lightroom/photoshop and light work on 4k 10bit video editing?

I will use the laptop for video editing for client works and content editing for myself on Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects. Which one should I choose? Should I go with the higher ram and the pro chip? Or will it give me a headache to move files all the time due to 512ssd?

If you're a 3D animator that wants to come back to the Mac than pick the M3 Pro/Max over M1 or M2 anything because of the new gpu architecture and much needed support for hardware accelerated raytracing which isn't available on previous M Series chips. Especially if you use gpu rendering in your workflow via Redshift and Unreal Engine 5.2 and above. Gamers and 3D professionals finally getting some acknowledgment which is refreshing. Still waiting for someone to review the M3 Pro vs a 40 series GPU in 3D content creation workflows.
I bought one, it is a great laptop in my opinion, and its going to last me a lifetime.
What spec should a wedding photographer get? Would a m3 pro 16 inch 36gb ram be ok for heavy photo editing?
Yes go for it
just ordered, upgrading from a 2012 macbook pro, hope its a worthy upgrade
Mine is the 2015 model so anything is an up grade for me I’m sure
What about the M3 Max? Is 36gb ram worth it? Versus 18gb?
Hi there, this was an incredible video! I love your outline, and very honest and rational approach. You hit the nail on the head with each segment, and I really appreciate the pacing and video production. I will definitely subscribe, and look for your reviews in the future. Great job.
I have a early 2015 macbook pro looking to get the m3 pro!
Good choice!
Just bought M3 PRO 14in 1TB coming from a 2012 MacBook Pro i5 Intel. It’s been long over due
Sir is this laptop good for daily use of word excel and powerpoint?
I have never used a mac before and have been a lifetime windows user
Hello. At the same price would you buy a Macbook Pro 14 with an M2 Max 32Gb Ram or an M3 pro CPU 18Gb Ram? Thanks 😊
I picked up the M3 Pro 1 TB. Coming from an i5, I don't have anything to complain about!
Would you recommend the M3 Pro 11 core or the 12 core version?
Came from 2013 MacBook Pro, I went with the M3 Max 8TB, 128 unified memory. Won’t be upgrading for a while.
Hi there
Could u make a video comparing MacBook Pro M3 16” vs MacBook Pro m1 16”
Literally confused abt which one to get
Thanks Tausif
What do you think about saving 300$ and just getting the M3 instead of the M3Pro for us of personal light editing on Adobe Premier? I have a 2016 Mac Book Pro with Intel chip and it works fine for me. The only issue is its 8 years old and I am looking for a new computer to upgrade. I like the MBPro as it has the external card slot instead of the Air model....any thoughts?
make sure you look at adobe premiere minimum requirements as you need a decent amount of memory to even open the app. For a pro level computer, 36gb is the lowest I would go. For most, the max is overkill.
Just upgraded to pro chip m3 from my Intel Mac and it’s night and day difference in speed
Finally moved on from intel i9. M3 max arrives tomorrow
Epic video man
How much RAM do you recommend for a photography workflow with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop on the new MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip? I work with RAW photos with 40+ megapixels. Are there any workflows where choosing 48GB would be better than 24GB?
I'm thinking of buying this as my first macbook with 1TB 12Core CPU and 18 Core GPU. Upgrading from a 2019 X1 Carbon.
Money isn’t an issue either, but if I don’t need to spend it, I won’t lol
Edit: I know an M2 Air is good, but I want the better display lol
I code and even record videos and do 1080 Livestream for an AI chatbot on a 2013 MacBook pro. You don't need the Max xD. For light workloads you might even profit more from the higher number of efficiency cores.
MacBook Pro 8GB RAM is sufficient for music production beginners?
I confused between Black and Silver Colour.
Please suggest !
People said it has minor scratches issues
I've just bought this exact model and colour and I absolutely love it
Excellent analysis. Thankyou
I bought the M3 pro and compared it to my M1 pro and didn’t see any difference, so I returned the M3 pro, I really wanted the black Mac but color isn’t enough to upgrade.
But isnt it though? haha jkjk you did the right move if you didnt see any diff! Congrats on saving money!
I’m about to trade my 19’ intel how much did you get for yours if you don’t mind me asking?
@@tanksley1522 It honestly depends on where you take it. I got around $500 off
Great advice. Finally, I may go for a MB Air 😊
The M1 Max is the best bang for your buck.. the normal user is never going to be able to use it to its max. The price of the new gen is a RIPOFF
I got mine on sale at Best Buy for $1,500 USD. originally $2,000. im so happy.
So it's not worth upgrading if you already have a good spec'd M2? But if you have an older Macbook Pro, then go for it?
I mean this is quite subjective though. Also depends on your needs and what you have. If you’re a basic user the MacBook Air itself is enough.
Nice review, made my decision move from MBA 15 to the MBP 14. MBP should be nice as well, but I carry the Mac with my everyday on the metro, bus, so....
I want macbook for music production. Which one should i buy, macbook air m3 chip or mcbook pro m3 pro chip . I want my projects to run smoothly
Is the base model m3 pro good for data science and machine learning? Btw I'm a cs udergrad!
Thanks!
All great options and yeah super tough decision! Glad I could help!
I’ve been incredibly happy with my M3 Pro MBP.
why dont you use case? is it scratch easily?
Thanks, excellent content and very useful!
Man ım stuck ın colour choice space black looks amazing but also silver feels so timeless and premium too
Get 1 and just put a wrap on it if need be
@@TausifHussain thank u so much
@@TausifHussain ıll go for space black then
interesting-m1max with higher levels of ram and 2-4 tb of ssd. but the issue with that is wear and tear, those computers are old, so the battery cycle counts are high
Where on earth do you read this lol 😂
Great video bro nice pov
My M3 18gb MCP is running circles around my boyfriends M2 64gb MCP. The m3 chip handles multiples tasks in a more efficient way.
I want to buy a new laptop now, never had a macbook, should i go for the 16 inch m2 pro or m3 pro??? Thanks guys, my budget is max 3k
Yea, this new black is so nice.
I’m looking at getting a Mac book for streaming content online via OBS but, unsure if the Air would work well for this. Also Great sweater!
I’m a casual user but I really value displays. So the mini LED and 120hz displays have made me want to get a pro as opposed to an air
Then I guess you'd go for the basic MacBook Pro M3? Since you don't need the power of M3 Pro.
@@ellie_diamond but I want the better screen so the pro is for me 🤷🏽♂️ power isn’t the only difference
I am debating on Macbook Pro with M3 chip (8-core CPU
10-core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
1TB SSD Storage¹)
and
Macbook Pro with M3 pro chip (11-core CPU
14-core GPU
18GB Unified Memory
512GB SSD Storage¹) .
I will use the laptop for video editing for client works and content editing for myself on Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects. Which one should I choose? Should I go with the higher ram and the pro chip? Or will it give me a headache to move files all the time due to 512ssd?
What did you decide on and any issues that you came across?
@@varun8765 I went with the second option and updated the ssd to 1TB. It's perfect now
So, I wish I kept my M2 pro. Now, how do I tether with this?
Hear that macbook pro's display blurrs the content like fast action scenes, is it true?
bro, can you give me example comparison here, so the important thing that is confused is i have 2 choises, macbook pro M1 Max 16 inch 64gb ram and M3 Pro 36gb ram,
in my country it has the different like $814 for the price, is that better to take the M1 Max, its old but more spech i got, isn,it?
With your m3, what does your cache stay at?
looking to upgrade from a intel mac but idk if i should settle with a mbp m1 pro or spend extra for a mbp m3 pro chip. I intend to use it for premiere pro, ae, lr, and student work
M3 Pro Macbook pro with 11 Core CPU and 14 Core GPU, can I spec it up to 1 TB SSD and 36 Gigs Ram? Or do I need to spec up the processor (12 core CPU and 18 Core GPU) as well for getting the 36 Gigs Unified memory? Please suggest.
Yeah you can definitely spec up the ram and ssd. You don’t have to upgrade processor for those!
can we connect 3 monitors to M3 Pro ?
Do you think the base model M3 pro specs 11 core cpu is good enough for normal usage and video editing?
Yes
I'm gonna wait for the M3 MacBook Air. Hopefully they fix the base ssd and I can finally upgrade my M1 Air.
I have M1 Air too I think I will wait next year too
Can you check whether this macbook heat up when connected to a external monitor?
I’ve been using it this way for weeks and no it does not.
YOU SOLD ME.
good review
Is the 14in, 12 core, 1tb, 36gb ram overkill?
That’s what I’m getting but I’m sticking with the 11-core version. No need to upgrade the processor
Im probably gonna get the mbp m3 pro 14 base model but 36 ram upgrade along with base 512gb space this model is good enough for me
Awesome video
