    Purchased the 14" in silver with the 12 core pro chip a few days ago, so just waiting for it to be delivered. Will be good upgrading from my 2016 12" MacBook. That on top of a student discount made it a reasonable buy in my eyes. I also plan to use it for several years, so the pro chip should do me good down the line.

      Silver is the best color because of the contrast between the dark black keyboard and the light silver body, no question about it.

    • @BobMcBurger1
      @BobMcBurger1 11 месяцев назад +4

      @@doompod Agreed. Including we don’t know how space black will age over time. If the color will fade or will marks build up. At least for silver, it’ll just stay silver. Including I’m currently using a silver MacBook, so I know what to expect instead of jumping into the deep end for the new color.

    Choose the M3 base model if you're a casual user; only 15% of users need this. Opt for the M3 Pro base model if you're on a budget and do coding or editing (40% of users). Consider the M3 Max base model if you're a professional in coding, video, photo, or 3D work (30% of users). Apple nudges users towards the M3 Max lineup this year, but it's likely affordable for professionals. Avoid the 14-inch laptop due to reported heat issues, resulting in 10-20% lower performance, as confirmed by Apple reps, MaxTech, and ArtIsRight.

      True, but I would recommend the MacBook Air for casual users which is probably 90% of the population , the base M3 MBP are for the 2% of people who need a Mini-LED display tbh , and then the other 8% should get the M3 Pro/ Max MBP

      @@Applecore365one complaint. We shouldn’t call the base m3 mbp. They don’t call it a pro, it’s not a pro. Just the same chassis. Like literally. It’s not on the tab….or on the box. It’s a MacBook. Not a MacBook Pro. Sorry just a pet peeve…RUclipsrs and people in the comment keep calling it a pro and it’s not.

    • @Applecore365
      @Applecore365 Год назад +5

      @@ohmyv3gatron well Apple calls it a MacBook Pro hence why people are referring it as a MacBook Pro - for Apple the Pro name stems from the other hardware choices not necessarily the chip - for example iPad Pro and iPad Air both have base chips but the iPad Pro has mini-LED and promotion , similar to iPhones - you think everyone buying a “Pro” iPhone cares about performance? The pro just means more advanced hardware to be fair

    here's who the base M3 Pro is for.
    Someone who wants a MacBook Air in the 14" size with the Pro body. You get better speakers, SSD, display, and a fan. This machine is more that enough for basic video editing and most uses which 80% of people use their laptops for. Upgrade the RAM and you're set.
    Sure you can pay a couple hundred more for the M3 Pro chip, but why? most of us don't need it.
    That said, I got the 16" M3 Pro with 36GB RAM. But am thinking of getting the base M3 as a travel MacBook.

      I guess you wanted to say M3 base model in pro is similar to air in better chassis and not the m3 pro. M3 pro is much better processor where multi core and GPU process is involved. M3 pro base comes with 18gb ans is much better processor then base models used in Air

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England Год назад

      @@SAURAV2k3 Yes, lots of YT creators either artfully mislead viewers or are just misunderstanding that the MB Pro 14 (M3) is an update to the MB Pro 13 (M2), not a realigning of the MB Pro 14 (M2 Pro). It is for those who want a bit of extras compared to the MB Air M2. But a caveat: the rumours are that the MB Air M3 will have OLED 120Hz and be priced similarly to the MB Pro 14 (M3). The MB Air M2 will likely be the cheaper entry Mac, with the MB Air M1 being discontinued.

    Great video! I think best bang for buck is a refurbished M2 pro. Goes for $1599 on apple’s website, 16 gigs of ram, more ports, much better than base M3. My thought process was exactly the same as yours, I initially ordered the M3 and upgraded the ram to 16 gigs but then realized for only $200 more I get all the benefits of the M3 pro. But for someone who refuses to pay more than $1600, I think the M2 pro is unquestionably a better bang for buck than the base M3

      The base MB Pro 14 (M3) is targeting a specific market, really an ultrabook. It is excellent for those of us that can easily live with 8GB of RAM and are looking for a bargain; already $250 off during Black Friday and Amazon in the UK has £150 off so £550 less than the base MB Pro 14 (M3 Pro). You get all of the main features (120Hz, miniLED) but just do not get extra ports, more RAM, and pro chip. I expect ion a few months the discounts will be even higher, maybe £1300 in the UK for that base M3 chip.

      most people will get the most out of the base m3pro over an m2pro or m1max hence the better single threaded performance and efficiency. However creatives creators and developers better off going for a 2nd hand m1max or m2max. bandwidth and ram size is key and i myself am looking to get my hands on a 2nd hand or refurb m2max 16inch. I currently use a 13900h 4060 zenbook pro 14. Mac is the way to go

    M3 Pro\Max chips this year are really geared for 3D artists more than video editors and for good reason as its been a forgotten user segment that is mostly dominated by PC users using Nvidia studio laptops and desktops. If you're a 3D animator that wants to come back to the Mac than pick the M3 Pro/Max over M1 or M2 anything because of the new gpu architecture and much needed support for hardware accelerated raytracing which isn't available on previous M Series chips. Especially if you use gpu rendering in your workflow via Redshift and Unreal Engine 5.2 and above. Gamers and 3D professionals finally getting some acknowledgment which is refreshing. Still waiting for someone to review the M3 Pro vs a 40 series GPU in 3D content creation workflows.

    Writing this comment on my 12 year old (!) 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (back in the day it was the first time Steve Jobs introduced the retina display) which i bought when starting college in 2012 for a wopping 2700 euros of student money. What a journey it has been for me with this device! It stood with me during my 6 years of college, i wrote my master thesis with this laptop, i wrote my girlfriend (now wife)'s master thesis with this laptop, i started my first wedding photography business with this laptop around 2018 which made me a ton of money and now currently my wife is using this laptop for her own baby photography business that she started and she still using this laptop for professional photoshop editing! UNBELIEVABLE. It's crazy to look back on the journey! But it's time to move on, I am sure the Macbook Pro M3 Pro will be worth every penny over the long run too and i hope to write a similar comment in 2036!!

    • @TausifHussain
      @TausifHussain  Год назад +3

      That’s actually a great decision. The m3 max upgrades are quite niche in terms of performance you’ll actually notice over the m3 pro. Putting that money instead into a pc build will be a solid addition!

    • @Everyday-man
      @Everyday-man Год назад +2

      Agree, the pro is the perfect spot. For the money, yes, you could get a dedicated gaming machine or well upgrades.
      The pro is a perfect machine, still powerful but work related, and powerful.
      Apple in gaming terms, I believe, is about 3-5 more years away. That's that's only if they play cards right with developers and price points of the Pros.
      Even the m3 pro 16inch is very average for gaming wise. Apple hasn't been good with games in a long long time, no devs really optimise for them yet.
      That's the one I got, too :) and i love it, tho, and kills windows with a battery-powered machine. Off the cord, it does awesome for working! I was actually surprised. I'm used to having to have my laptop plugged in, as most windows laptops for full power use a hybrid type system. They pull from battery and cord at the same time and want you to have 80% or more battery for it.
      16 inch is amazing, in my opinion, 14 is only worth it if you are a select few that need it smaller for airports, etc. People I see with 14s use an external monitor mostly, so not even they use 14.
      16 is a perfect size where the screen itself it large enough for working

    • @Triple._.A
      @Triple._.A Год назад +1

      @@Everyday-man yeah I would for sure go for the 16 inch as well. I was using the 13 inch 2019 MBP for portability. And then dual 27inch monitors at home, smolness of the 13 inch makes me feel so unproductive lol. I was only thinking of going for the M3 max in case I do machine learning or AI image/video generations on the go. But I decided to just leave those tasks for my PC instead.

    • @trezegol2007
      @trezegol2007 Год назад

      I never owned a MB or a MBP, only have worked with pc's so far. now some people are suggesting that investing the same or even less money in a pc may end up in a better result rather than spending so much money for a MB. But then again is it not that Apple computers benefit from the reputation that they keep up with the technology much longer than pcs? So is investing in a 3000 Euro MBP not the better solution, if instead I may get a similar good pc laptop for (much) less, maybe 2000?

    • @Triple._.A
      @Triple._.A Год назад +1

      @@trezegol2007 I personally don't think investing in a windows laptop will get you more than what MacBooks have to offer. Only time I can think of is when it comes to gpu tasks, windows laptops with dedicated GPUs are the way to go. But everything other than that, I feel that a MacBook would do better at than a windows laptop. I use Linux for programming, windows for game development and gaming, and mac for portability. I've decided not to go for the M3 max simply because I already have a system at home that can handle any of the GPU heavy tasks required. M3 Pro would be enough for all my other tasks, even the ones that require graphics, but just not do it as well as my PC with a dedicated GPU would. I do suggest you invest in a good MBP if you don't absolutely need the power of a dedicated GPU system.

    Really informative video! I have a 2019 16” MBP, 8C/16GB w/1TB and am looking to upgrade. Definitely want 16”, but am conflicted about the best configuration: M3 Pro 12CPU/18GPU/36GB w/2TB or jumping to the M3 Max with 14CPU/30GPU/36GB w/2TB. Neither are inexpensive, but want to make sure I really see the difference if I’m spending over $3000 on an upgrade. Thanks!

    The advice that I read is for photographers who work with large raw images and panoramic photos in LR Classic / Photoshop is to opt for the 36 GByte model in the M2 Pro line though one higher level Pro mentioned that he would opt for the Max version for these use-cases. Certainly folks in the data science / machine learning fields for example would want to opt for the Max version with plenty of RAM. I myself may wait for the M3 Max Studio.

      @@TausifHussainwhat files do you work with within LR Classic? I'm using a 2020 M1 13" MBP and it can be painfully slow to load at times working with my Canon R5 45mp compressed raw files. Things like zooming in to 100% or 200%, using the clone/heal tool, etc. I'll click to zoom and wait several seconds for it to respond and render. I'll click an area with the heal tool and wait several for it to process. Even when brushing (masking) sometimes the brush can't keep up with slow movements and lags behind then brushes into the wrong area. Have you noticed any substantial differences in this regard between the M2/M3 chips?

    I was looking to replace my M1 MBA 13 8/256 2020. It was 3 years old and sold it for $440 to online retailer. I settled on the MBP 14 M3 18/512 that was on sale for $1799 as best bang for the buck.. Also happened to have $420 cash back on credit cards so that's a total of $860 off. So I guess it depends on how you look at it.
    I love the MBP 14 M3 Pro. Even if you aren't maxing out the capabilities for the MBP, the screen, sound, ports, and how snappy it is doing routine stuff is still worth it if you don't mind the slightly heavier weight compared to a MBA 13. I'm not sure how much more you would want to spend on a laptop, but 36GB or ram for extra $400 would still be a good value. I still have a PC workstation that I used most of the Adobe Suite on professionally, FCP, Maya, but I probably wont be using professional creative programs in next 3 years, as my business is a lot of everything and the basic photo editing and decent camera and lenses is sufficient for what I'm doing, and if I get back into any creative projects the MBP M3 Pro will have a lot of options and capabilities. And if you are already deep into professional creative workflow you already know what you need.
