    very interesting, I would love to try these... I am not a skier, but they look closer to blading! I wonder if i can hire them somewhere near ot the slopes (Austria)??

    • @CamGoodTimes
      @CamGoodTimes  Год назад +1

      As a blader, you will be instantly very good on these! They feel similar in so many ways. My blader friend Brian tried them for the first time and was able to go down a moderate slope with ease. You may be able to find them out there. Summit skiboards are really high quality. If you don't see them out there, you can always rent-by-mail via summitskiboards.com.

    You need to try Tomsen Snowskates. They are exactly like skating.

      I'll have to check those out sometime.

    If we ever get enough skiiable weather in my area again, I might get these. I've been skiing most of my life, and have been trying to go skiing this year, but only had one opportunity. It's just getting so expensive for awful snow conditions.

      That's a bummer it's been such a poor season over there! I hope more moisture heads your way. These are incredibly fun, especially if you ski or skate.

    Would you consider going even shorter? Would it make it even more like skating, or do you think it would be too unstable?

    • @CamGoodTimes
      @CamGoodTimes  Год назад +2

      Great question. You can, but would at that point sacrifice the ability to go off-trail and would lose some stability. I personally wouldn’t go less than around 80 cm.

      Summit makes a really great pair of 79 cm "Easy Rider GX" skiboards for Beg to Inter peeps of all sizes and for groomers and some all mountain. Just use a stiff boot with them.

    Nice review.
    I am not a skiër, long skis are terrible for me!
    I always laugh when other people are trying making fun of me, with skiboards. My answer most of the time is: Can you skate, inlineskate or play hockey on a icerink? If the answer is NO, I always say: I can't ski.. but still i am here in the snow on a mountain.. Shall we play ice-hockey tomorrow? haha.

      Hey thanks! It amazes me how childish people act sometimes simply because our snow plank preferences are different than theirs. Anyways, we just keep shredding on! If only more people realized how liberating skiboards were- just such limitless fun and creativity to be had.

      @@CamGoodTimes Exactly! I still remember when snowboards were upcoming in Europe in the mid-80s. The elite Swiss and Austria skiers with 2m ski slats didn't like it at all. They were banned at some places..
      I am from the Netherlands so skiing we do in the Alps most of the times during winter. As a formerly hockeyplayer I never get used on the long ski's. Although we went yearly on wintersport because of my wife. My wife and some friends were skiing and others (like me) stayed in our appartement. Only for the party and beers we went to the bar! haha. So last year i tried the short ones (snowblades) and a new world has opened for me. Never thought that I ever visited a start of a slope with a skilift and go down...

      @@maikel6832 that's great you discovered them! They have changed everything for me as well. It's often really difficult to enjoy long skis when you already love skating. Skiboards just make much more sense! Which ones do you ride on, by the way?

      @@CamGoodTimes Last year I rented them. For upcoming season (jan-march) I bought a couple. The Elan Freeline Blue 99 cm. These are similar to the ones I rented last year. So I cannot wait to go on the mountains. We have our holiday medio januari. In Champoussin (Val D"Illiez) Switzerland. A very nice skiplace with more than 650 km of piste. They call it the Port of Sun. Near the french alps. Very beautiful overthere. it's a 550 miles drive, but we have a very nice appartment from friends over there.

    • @CamGoodTimes

      Wow I bet that it is incredible up there! I have used the Elan 99's and those are a lot of fun, especially on piste.
