Keys played great and Saba was losing for nearly two sets but Saba's previous heart breaking SF losses may have helped her in critical moments this time. She displayed the resilience of a true No.1. Coco-Saba final would be mouth-watering.
0-6 , 3-5 , 0-15 down and keys serving for the match, 2-4 down in the third set and still sabalenka won the match .... #1 mentality... Unbelievable comeback 🔥
Sabalenka displayed number 1 mentality when against the ropes pull herself and won the match! Sad for Keys as she is one of my favorite technique on tour 😭
Yes, Sabalenka fought back and played a great tiebreak, but IMO the third set was an example of Madison‘s entire career. She sadly didn’t hold her nerves together, when she had the opportunity and and when it mattered the most.
It was downright tragic what happened to Keys. I don't think I've seen a loss like that of late. But it speaks to how much mental fortitude is a part of this game. Keys couldn't close it out when she was up a game in the 2nd set, and that was all Sabalenka needed to get back in. Great match overall and Keys should certainly be proud, but I feel like this victory should've been hers.
Shows how mentally tough guys like Novak and Rafa are cuz rarely do opponents come back and win. And give Alcaraz credit holding off Djokovic wimby finals
@@HS-ie8tj set and a break up? Serving for the match?? Lol. I get its never over till its over but come on dude.....roger nole rafa barty wudda won. Mental toughness. Keys doesnt have that. Closing out tennis matches aint easy
Aryna the fight in you is simply amazing. I had to fight back the tears. Any true fan knows how far you’ve came mentally and physically! You deserve this truly!
@Rafaundisputedgoat23BRUTFORCE Djokovic probably should retire at top, rather than sharing the fate of Rafa and Federer being forced out by injury. Keys is still young.
Really felt for Madison. She is 28, been on tour for 14 years now, both a GS finalist and semifinalist here once, and reached the SF of other slams on 3 different occasions. Not sure if it will ever happen at all, but I fear she will be like Lucy Safarova, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic and a few of other very fine tennis players who retired without winning a GS singles title.
she needs to go see a shaman, put things in perspective. these official highlights are the worst. you gotta show a fault, ball bounce, and a double fault in a 2 minute recap?
Finally, she's not choking on semifinal... Love to see the battle of big hitters like this.. But finger crossed for tomorrow... Gauff's definitely on fire now...
@andro4863 There would be no point in playing a match if there was a pre determined winner but I would say Sabalenka is the one likely to lose as she is facing a better Coco now than the one who beat her 3 times out of 5 times before.
keys' performance in that first set is going down as perhaps the highest level in a slam against a player of sabalenka's caliber. if she served it out or clutched up a tiebreak, it would have gone down as her greatest win ever. still a phenomenal effort tonight, pushing the world's best to her limits
I remember when Iga became #1 during the Miami Open in 2022. All she needed to do was win one match to officially get the ranking after the tourney, and she went on to win that and 37 matches in a row. Aryna made a statement with that crazy win last night. She's the new #1, and she's asserting that she's the one to beat right now. Incredible match and incredible comeback.
I’m rooting for Coco but she has alot on her hands on Saturday.. The way Sabalenka came back after a bagel is nuts.. Coco has to play a near perfect game to pull this off
@@PracticeMakesPaper Ostapenko may hit as hard as Sabalenka, but she also misses more. Gauff has looked impregnable all tournament, and I think it's more than possible the crowd's going to will her to the title in spite of Sabalenka's power and consistency, but it's going to be very, _very_ hard work for the American.

Just a note on the highlights: we don't need to see a missed first serve and all the time between serves on a double fault, just the missed second serve is fine. Those 16 seconds from :14 to :30 would have been better used later to show a point when Sabalenka was down 3-5 to establish how close Keys was to winning. That way when people watch these highlights in the future they'll get a better feel for just what a remarkable match this was.
In fact, Sabalenka can be denominated as a female rambo. It might be the most opportune nickname which will smoothly be given for herself. The mental toughness and power of Aryna was absolutely at the forefront. As a Iga Swiatek supporter, appreciating the diligence and congratulating professional Belarusian tennis player with becoming world No.1 in the WTA World Rankings.
What a match! I'm really impressed about Madison tournament this year ,she played amazing, outclassing tough opponents ..pleasure to see her like that. Mental resilience and fortitude is especially real in deciding games between equally matched opponents in a sport like tennis. Whatever happened in this collapse/capitulation/choke-up by Keys is made much worse by the overwhelming home support on the biggest stage in the world. That is why Coco must be respected even more for not releasing Ostapenko's neck after the 6-0 bagel in the quarter final. The winded opponent, given one quarter of a chance, can still arise and calamitously steal your triumph
So out of 207 points across three sets, two of which involving tie breakers, they chose to show a double fault and players walking back to their seats!

I'd say Trevisan vs Putinseva was more thrilling 0-6 7-6 7-6 and a very close tiebreak this US Open
