Ahh, so glad you got your hands on these! The two sets here get me so excited for the future of LEGO City. A bulldozer next? A dump truck in this style? Or maybe, just maybe, an updated tower crane?? 👀
@CheeseyStudios A new tower crane set would be a dream come true! 🏗️ But I can't wait for lego😆 Which is why I'm currently working on my own moc of a tower crane in this modern city construction style!
How about a juniors front loader?? 😃
If they're done like this, I'll take it all!
@@19turtledog set 60450
I am lucky enough to have gotten the tower crane one Christmas, definitely one of my favourite Lego sets of all time. It amazes me that they've never made a new one since then!
A lot of people are missing the fact that the cab on the rear of the crane will swing all the way to the back if you remove the weights. That’s the way the crane would be driven to a job site so the weights and the cab aren’t sticking out too far. It’s a fantastic detail.
What the trick? Even with the "weights" removed I tried and there's not quite enough clearance.
Are you sure there’s enough clearance?
LEGO City is LEGO at it's best intention, imo. The onslaught of the IP licensed stuff seems to me to be cash grabs at times. City (like Space, Castle, etc.) feels like pure play.
I miss the in house themes that weren’t just Ninjago. Not just Bionicle - Power Miners, Space Police, Agents, Mars Mission, Life on Mars, Blacktron, the ten thousand other space themes, et cetera. Nowadays it’s like kids won’t buy anything without a Star Wars or Marvel label!
@@mechanwhal6590New blacktron build just dropped.
0:24 That's what I keep telling my wife, the age on the box is JUST a suggestion. Just a suggestion honey...9 on up? WAY UP!
My mom is so lucky this did not come out when I was a kid. She would've heard of this everyday from now till christmas hahaha
The cabin can swing back for the following reason; you can easily remove the weights on the back. The cabin can now rotate all the way to the back so the crane can easily drive through streets. Lego should have included this in the manual though.
It’s amazing how LEGO is incorporating so much detail while still making it suitable for ages 9 and up. I’m really excited about the direction LEGO is heading!
I would highly NOT recommend sand or dirt use since it'd wear out the clutch of moving parts so easily.
Love these - wish my child was into construction more.
Great review Tiago!!
My son plays with his excavator using kinetic sand without much issue at all. Whatever makes the sand stick together keeps the grains from coming loose and lodging in the moving parts and sand also doesn't seem to scratch.
The finish on the bucket shows no signs of wear whatsoever despite having scooped thousands of (minifig scale) tons of sand. Sets that he plays with less have more wear on them from the pieces rubbing against each other in his storage bin.
I wouldn't use it for anything Technic where it could get into the gears, but it really is ideal for playing with the excavator.
I got my Nephew the Excavator and he loved it. I did have to correct some of the build for him.
Chris Stamp! 🎉 For those who don't him, he is the designer of the Speed Champions sets and recently move to City theme
It would be really neat if each of the city buildings included a blueprint tile. Those stood out to me as fun callouts to the two sets but now I want them for every set!
Definitely.
I used to have the old one when I was a kid and let me tell ya, it was a blast to play with. This one is SOO GOOD looking, I would have sold my soul to have it when I was a kid and even more so now.
Awesome review as usual Tiago!!
LEGO City construction has always been LEGO's best. The construction series of the mid 2000s and early 2010s was fantastic. See 7900, 7905, and 7249
These Lego city sets are just amazing. The designer's really nailed the true spirit of what the city line was when I was a kid.
Hope Chris Stamp will further develop similar sets upon this marvels. Loved by many for sure.
These 2 are my only City sets I ever built and displayed. Says a lot among 65 other big sets I got.
Thanks for your review. This set would have kept my now grown son content for a very long time. Please keep reviewing Lego City. They are some of my favorites.
I might!!
I got these for my son and he loves playing with them (even I enjoy them a lot) and he always finds new ways to interact with them (he loves to break them and then repair them). The building techniques were very fun and we enjoyed making them (but I gotta say, the stickers were applied a little wonky but that's okay). Great review as always, Tiago!
I wasn’t expecting to be excited about this set but it really is sort of beautiful
Yes please, more City set reviews! It's still one of my favorite themes, even after all these years!! I've never been too keen on the Police Stations and Fire Stations, but I bet seeing some enthusiastic reviews might change that!
This is what I love to see. Amazing play sets while still being phenomenal display models
These 2 Construction vehicles are my favourites! 🙂
Racing brick pointed out these were designed by the former Speed champions designer. That's why they look so good.
Good to see exciting kits coming out of the City range, under Chris' leadership. He's missed from Speed Champions
These do look great! City is finally starting to come out with stuff that is interesting. It looked like they were abdicating that to Friends.
Set number 60420. 9000 more to go!
This made me think of cargo crane 6352 and excavator 6662 that I had as a kid. All the extra bits you can take off has so much play value!
Usually i find lego city as boring as friends, but both themes can have amazing sets that transcend the mundane. For me at least, watching reviews like yours for this set is the most enjoyable part. (i even wanted the red tram set only for the duration of the review). Actually the nature and space themes are pretty good. I always get the micro boxes for the animals.
You can see the influence of Chris Stamp on these sets from leaving Speed Champions for City
Looks incredible wish I had these as a kid
Right?!
@@TiagoCatarino I had fun with 1980s technic too but this is something else
You got sets from Lego for free, so why don't you give them to your viewers for free? Giveaway
My son got them both and he loves them. Recently he get also LEGO yellow track - also great set!
Im not really a big lego city fan, but these sets actually look pretty dope.
I'd love more LEGO City reviews!
It's nice to see LEGO doing construction sets that look this good. Previously the 60074 Bulldozer was really in a class of it's own, now it has some real competition. I have no idea how I'm going to fit that colossal crane into my city, but that's a problem for later.
And you can also maybe get the crane to hold a section or module of a prefabricated Lego building.
It is refreshing to see such creativity and originality in their set designers, these are well made indeed and at an unexpectedly low price point at that! Great review, Tiago!
If that construction crane was around when I was a kid, I think I woule have talked my folks' ears off about it
That crane is a must. If Iam not mistaken the weights are transported separately and the cab swings to go into transport mode. I have seen a few of these around even some really old ones (1970s) in action on campus a few years back.
These sets are amazing
I've been waiting for a long time for good construction sets that aren't 4+
Really appreciate you putting subtitles on this
A new version of backhoe loader digger would be nice to compliment these. The digger in lego system has not been updated since 1985. Something like the solar bench construction set, but with different rear arm attatchment.
I don’t ever buy city sets, but I just might have to pick these 2 up, they look so good.
Its cool to see how far lego has come
Im glad they are making good sets for kids too again i was afraid that they forgot their core audience
wow this was a good video thanks tiago! i love your video's
wouldve been cool to see the crane come with a steel beam or something to swing around haha, but great build.
I wish these sets released when I was a kid
Right?!
Wish they got the rights to the CAT logo tbh, it'd be awesome to have CAT be an official LEGO partner.
Was not expecting a city review
For me the major downside to the crane is the lack of an effective counterweight. Even with the outriggers fully deployed, with the crane boom fully extended, any load heavier than the included port-a-potty has the potential to put significant stress on the pivot point on which the crane itself rotates.
Good point! If I buy this for my son, I'll probably give him a couple rolls of pennies to serve as counterweights. Definitely no way giving 200 pennies to a four year old could backfire.
@@AndyBuildsStuff Not wanting to rain on Tiago's great video review of this set, but it's worth checking out the video on this set made by Jang's Lego Reviews, which illustrates the issue pretty clearly. It's something a roll of pennies and a few rubber bands should easily remedy (I remember my dad doing the same for a tower crane we built out of Construx back in the day), but I'd wished Lego could have provided a more elegant solution in the box. (I imagine that if Lego included actual heavy weights in the set, it would have driven up the cost.)
I have the lego city crain & it is a quite a big build & great value for the money
I loved building the crane! I also got the instruction from Rebrickable for steering and looking for the required pieces now 🎉
that crane is phenomenal!
The crane should have steering, several 'amateurs' already showed it can be done without compromising the looks or sturdiness.
Yes please more City reviews 😊
I was not into City but these sets are an exception
I am not sure if keeping them for myself or giving them to my kids.
Very cool! Seems like a much better set to buy for crane-loving kids and adults than the ginormous Technic equivalent, the Liebherr something something.
im still totally gonna play with that crane like im 8 yrs old lol too bad the wheels doesn't turn. im sure there's a way to modify it
This sets are fantastic and are always out of stock online and on Lego stores
Getting the $55 for my nephew next month, it looks solid enough for him to play with.
this is so good looking and the play features are fantastic. a young me would LOVE. this. i would play with it endlessly
under rated channel
I got them both. But happy i waited. Basically bought both for the price of the crane
Tiago, bricksie, and Emmasaurus in a room. Who's legos best shill?
The crane may be represented realisticly but the construction workers aren't!
Very good review and nice sets!
I would love to see lego weighted bricks
Awesome space sets city crane looks EPIC fun great review 👍
Lego toilets always have good detail 😄
Tiago will you review the Lego Mona Lisa art set?
I think I will! Either a post based review, or less likely a video!
Damn these look so cool
Must buy
I've been looking at my local stores for that blasted crane, but I've been unsuccessful in finding it.
I have Both
Nice review, thank you Tiago.
Anyone remember the OG lego city mobile crain from 2005?
Oh, a video!
I'm a proud owner of LEGO City 7249 XXL Mobile Crane and it feels so good seeing this set reimagined and upgraded in the form of the new crane!
When you pack up the crane to drive it to another location, you should remove the counterweights and then the operator cabine swings around to the back of the crane, this makes it possible for the crane to pass thru narrow streets. Unfortunetaly Lego did not provide a truck to carry the counterweight in this set.
Se a Lego continuar neste caminho vou ficar sem espaço ainda mais rapidamente!
Hey Tiago👋 I’ve been interested in doing Lego videos for a bit now but I have a couple questions
1. Does Lego pay you to do reviews on top of giving you the product for free?
2. How long did it take to reach the Lego affiliate program
3. What could I start filming with a low budget.
Thanks
1. Common misconception, but no, they do not pay me to do reviews.
2. Don't really remember, but as soon as I applied, I got accepted. Its been harder nowadays though.
3. Your phone.
damn i just built the crane like a week ago
I haven’t seen the 🔥emoji since 2022 🙏
Not doing the '66 Batmobile?
I don't think I'm qualified to play/use that crane, haha.
You missed the tiny one
nice vaicles indeed
Still waiting for set 69420
I am surprised nobody mentions shitty tires in the crane- which are full on one side and empty on another- disappointing
child me is screaming with joy
For me, these sets are a problem. Don't get me wrong, they look amazing, they look like they were made for a speed-champions city. But I think such a perfect of a set may not inspire children to modify them, there aren't almost any studs on top. And that's without talking about the price: both sets are well priced, but in 2010, you could get an excavator for 15€, which even adjusted for inflation is half the new thing. The existence of sets like these is perfect, but there should be cheaper versions targeting kids. Keeping the play functions, but there is no need for so clean and big models for a 7-year-olds.
Fantastic video as always.
Hey Tiago!
I had built a MOC of Grand Sensie Dareth's mojo dojo. Pls rate my MOC out of ten. BTW I'm a huge fan of Ninjago and your content!
These look great! And they certainly pass the test of whether I would like them when I was a kid.
The only thing I don't like is the wobbling back and forth of the rotating body when using the crane. That's definitely something I'd want to try and eliminate by modding.
The "split" in the excavator arm doesn't bother me in the slightest.
What's a vaykle??
Vehicle?
The crane having no steering is lackluster - there is an outstanding MOC out there that allows for steering, should have been included in the first place however 😢
daddy?
Where's the lego zelda review???
Beans
Early!
