    Thanks for the video! I currently own a Honda CRV 1999, it has been having transmission issues such as the car when its on drive or any shifts, it doesn't move, just idling. I did replace the solenoids, still have the issue. Today I flushed out the transmission fluid and it was heavy black and put new fluid which was the Valvoline MaxLife fluid and it moved slightly couple feet reverse and forward. Then again cant move. That means the filter is clogged and need a new one? On the Honda CRV 1999 the filter is located in under the back of the vehicle correct? I have a extra gallon for the fluid because I was using the 1st gallon to flush out the transmission but the filter needs to be changed because its clogged correct? Has never been changed since 1999. Once I change the filter and put the extra gallon again, will it work like a charm?

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  2 года назад

      If it's hard to move the gear selector, then the cables are binding up somewhere. From the gear shift inside the car to the transmission there is a cable. You might have to change the entire gear selector in the car. If you're rough with the shifter, overtime it'll cause issues like you're having.

    Is dirty filter can cause why transmission is slipping?

    • @MrRangerZr1

      It can but it's rare. If your transmission started to slip then you need a rebuild/replacement. Try using lucas transmission oil additive or lube guard.

      @@MrRangerZr1 Just wanted to chime in here - a transmission slip does not always mean you need a rebuild or replace - there are multiple causes for transmission slippage: fluid level low, sometimes even if fluid level too high, solenoid and valve body issues can also cause slippage, and don't require complete transmission rebuild or replace. A trustworthy mechanic who has tons of experience with transmission issues can properly deduce the cause and proper course of action. Something else to note on these Honda transmission filters -- the market is flooded with very cheap replacements, but note that almost none of those cheaper versions has the bypass valve system that the true original OEM Honda filters have --- this bypass is truly a must-have when it comes to your transmission, because if the filter gets too clogged, the bypass will allow fluid to still circulate into the transmission - without it, you can have significant issues. The OEM Honda part is indeed upwards of 3X more, but this isn't an area to go cheap on.

      So Do you agree not to use the non-Honda brand filters? I assume that JF cut a filter open and inspected the inner workings before making the statement about the bypass valve. If there was a bypass valve that would defeat the purpose of the filter process , no?

    A Honda dealership quoted me $550 to re0lace this filter.
    A local mechanic quoted me $350.
    What the hell is going on with mechanics?
