If you look and listen carefully, he never misses a beat in his songs, and although his speech is blurry on purpose it will be utterly impossible to do all the things he does on stage correctly if one were to be drunk for real, motor skills and neuro system will never coordinate when one is smashed, Dino plays the latter to a T, in reality, he will have apple juice in his glass. Love this man, and I am 60 years young, I've been listening to him since I was a kid, his style, manners, wit, humour and charisma set him apart from the pack.
Yes an act he stumbled on by accident, he obviously had a sleepy drawl speaking impediment of some kind, however the drunk act can be boorish after a while, he didn't need to because he was terrific singer anyway, nowadays it wouldn't be seen as such a clever act at all

Grew up listening to Dean Martin and this brings back so many amazing memories. There will never be an entertainer like Dean ever again. Dean passed away on Christmas Day 24 years ago and I remember hearing this sad news like it was yesterday. Merry Christmas Dean; have a smoke and a drink with my dad.
It broke my heart when Dean's son Dean Paul died in that plane crash back in the eighties. I had two young children then, who are now adults, and I could not begin to imagine losing either one of them. I can understand how Dean was devastated and could never fully come back from such a loss. He loved all of his children and Dean Paul was his first born, so I guess that was something special. They are both now back together in Heaven, so all is well again with them. Jeannie is there too.
Lesley Star Wars Actually Dean had four children by his first wife ( Craig, Claudia, Gail and Deana) So although Dean Paul was the first baby he had with Jeannie, chronologically he was Deans 5th child.
A master entertainer ! I was at this concert in May of '77 and remember standing in line for more than 6 hours for tickets the first day they went on sale in February. I later got to shake hands with Dean & Frank and spent a few minutes talking with Ken Lane after the show. I miss them all !

2020...I just retired and grew up with watching Dean Martin and listening to his music. I've always loved him! I can't believe I now live in the Palm Springs area and live on Dean Martin Dr which is right down the street from Frank Sinatra Dr. Love It!!!!
I lived down the block from this theatre , and this day before the show I met mr. Martin with Frank Sinatra and about 15 other made guys and there dates at a restaurant in Tarrytown,they were having a great time and I couldn’t believe my eyes....

I grew up watching The Dean Martin Show, and in the 70's my dad and I NEVER missed a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast. Dean always bridged, and still bridges, generation gaps. His complete lack of ego and obvious looseness and love of his audience is a thing of wonder!! We miss you, Dino, but at least we have the visuals.
Deans very last show was at the old MGM in las vegas. His son recently died as he sang two songs then told the crowd he can not do this anymore, Drinks on him and refunds to all, thank you and get home safe.

@@josephkearny5874 You have no idea what you're talking about, even Sinatra couldn't knock the Beatles off the #1 spot in the top 10...Dean did. He had a velvet voice, completely natural and better than any of his contemporaries. As is why he was more in demand and more successful with the exception of Sinatra. To opine he wasn't a world class singer from a live performance in the beginning of the twilight of his career is pure ignorance, considering the hundreds of studio recordings, movies and TV shows starting back in the 1950s.
Like I said he had showmanship, a TV Show, Top Ten...that's not proof of quality or talent though. Remember, Adam Sandler's movies were popular once. @@Will_DiGiorgio

Dean Martin was the highest paid singer and actor in the world in the 50s. 30 songs in the top 100, 15 in the top 10 and knocked the Beatles off the #1 spot in 1964... You don't get to be Frank Sinatras best friend by being Adam Sandler... Go away and listen to the Spice Girls, I'm sure that's more your speed.
