I've been watching this performance on RUclips since 2011 when I discovered it by accident. And I'm still watching this in 2023. No matter how you say it. No matter what language you say it in. Simply put it's all about the look, the look of love that is.
Wow. I could’ve said those exact words myself. My parents always had Bacharach on the “stereo”. I was no doubt the only kid in the neighborhood who knew those songs and dared sing them. My parent’s music was a huge influence on me. They’re also responsible for introducing me to the Carpenters-a life long obsession. I studied and sang professionally. I lost Mom last month. I flew home for our last visit and though she was barely conscious, I leaned over her bed, cradled her head and with teary eyes softly sang some of the songs we used to sing together 50 yrs earlier. I don’t know if she heard me. But it was therapeutic for me
Love how these videos, and there are many of them, give us a certain intimacy between composer and singer, the sense of connection that you can feel and makes the song really come across. Cannot think of anything today on TV that shows anything close, or even related; the intimacy has been replaced with dancers acting like strippers.
Not just brazen, just plain grotesque.... My cousin showed me some You Tube vids of current pop and it's all half naked women singing perverted songs and shaking their butts. Sad state of affairs.
Maybe it's because he's not an actual singer. Because of his extraordinary musical talent and charisma I've always been prepared to be tolerant of any vocal frailties on his part.
