The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

When the music was real music, not the noise and profanity of today...
I agree
Vikki Carr was a real musician! She had a great voice, and she dressed well too, which is more than can be said for the "pop divas" of today(Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera come to mind).
It’s sad that you need to put others down just to compliment someone. ❤
Unfortunately, there is a class of people who enjoy and enrich this category of "music".
It's regrettable...
Different people have different tastes. How boring life would be if we all liked the same thing, much less look like each other... 🤔
I’m 66 years old now, and boy does this bring back memories. So classy! Now we have vulgar disrespecting women, rap junk, that they call music can’t get into it, but this yes, so nice!☮️❤️
I'm 71 years old and I agree 100%. Here you have pure class, dressed very elegantly, no gymnastics on the floor, no tats, no nudity, no auto tune......Just pure unadulterated talent!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the reply. You said it so nicely. Hope all is well with your family and friends.☮️❤️
LOVE HER live, pure voice, no pretentions. I love Vikki. Same voice on records and live
@@chenwenhua2269 she is great isn’t she! Thanks for the reply. Hope all is well with you.☮️❤️
What happens is that we artists that have style have been pushed away by the evil ones that rule the business with nasty things, on top of that politics have gotten involved into music with ideologies that contaminate the new generations. I quit the industry because all they wanted was trashy music. I have been singing for God for the last 15 years
Pure class. Love the female artists of the mid 60s to mid 70s. Nothing like it today.
Class being the operative word.
Anyone listening and watching this, long for the good ol' days when the world was like this??? I'm 70 and I can't stand the music that is out today let alone the singers who sing the songs. Remember when Lady Gaga wore meat on her body???
She is very popular in Mexico 🇲🇽 we love her voice very strong voice . ❤️❤️
Simply divine! Today’s idolized female singers can’t hold a candle to the lovely and talented Miss Carr.
No way.
Those who have talent don't need to be vulgar.
Congratulations, lady singer.
Brazil.
I am never ever tired of this beautiful song...are you here yet? 💋
Me too.😊
So much class, beauty and elegance. Amazing voice, amazing human being
I'm 95 and really appreciate You Tube where I can hear my old favorites. I loved this one but had totally forgotten it.
95 ??? U have all of my respects !! 95 and still communicate wow !
@@donnieallums4847 The internet has to be the greatest thing that ever happened to old people. Besides medical technilogy.
Vicky Carr forever and ever since Ipiales Nariño Colombia América Latina 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Vicky Carr forever and ever from Ipiales Nariño Colombia América Latina God bless you
I'm 67, I love Vikki, and I will never forget that dress, I thought it was so beautiful on her.
My mom had this album... I probably learned this song before I was 4 years old LOL
Vikki Carr was an extraordinary vocalist...could listen to her all day. Love her.
Vicki was a completely UNDERRATED singer. Don't know why? Perhaps she needed new management. Definitely enjoyed her back in the day!! Thanks, Ms. CARR for all the beautiful memories!
She came to Mexico and did great here
Tal vez por ser latina . Mexicana
Her big song that I liked was let It please be him that was awesome
Vicenta Cárdenas?

Those days that we now call “OLD DAYS “ were the best times
The Vietnam war was raging but a few bars from Vikki and you forgot about it for a few moments. No lip sync here, you can tell when she pulled the mic away from her face and the sound faded. Such a great talent.
That microphone looks like a half-inch diameter, tube amplified, true-condenser, Brüle & Kjaer microphone. Congratulations to the sound engineer. Miss Carr is to talented and beautiful to be mortal. I remember those years too.
Her hair streaks are cool. What a great song and she does it well.
This hair look begcame sooo popular it was called “frosted”.. I had an aunt that went n got her hair cut n frosted so she could look like Vicki ❤
@@kittenheels1958 DITTO, SO DID I!!! NOW MY GRAY/WHITE IS FROSTING!!!😄😂🎤🥰🎼❤🌷👍🙏🦋
I miss the good old days. How I wish we could turn time and go back. 😢❤
What happened to that clean cut look, and that classy dress. Boy, those were the days.
Bien dit,l'ami
I grew up during this time and I am so glad that I did because I wouldn’t have anything to compare to today. But that’s also a problem because I miss this time period so much. I’ve been called a “boomer” by millennial types in a bit of a degrading way. They have no clue. As impossible as it is we would all be better off if they too would’ve grew up back then.
Let’s be grateful we were there for the quality of the 50, 60,70s .
How lucky we, the 1900 s generation were ❤
To look back seems to please me more than looking forward, I really do miss life as it was, I have a sinking feeling when I think of the future, I have had a great life but it seems to have soured in the last 20yrs, love this song
I loved listening to her when she was on my little am radio shack radio
Many years ago in my 20s I had such a crush on this wonderful woman.
Vikki carr such an underrated singer, absolutely gorgeous , and this is the best version of this song an all.
She had another arrangement of this song. It's on her Live in Japan album. She only used that arrangement for a little while back in the mid 70's. Loved it. Bob Florence re-arranged it as only he could.
with 3 Grammys and a lifetime achievement award ,she WAS NOT underrated i remember the sixties and carr was the hottest ticket in town...you could say she was the Taylor swift of the sixties with the slightly older crowd
however, today she would never make it with the maga cult, because she is Mexican
@@davediamond9436fear intelligent women.
Real name Victoria Carmona. But like Richie Valens , changed her name like a lot of latinos in order to succeed.
@alonzocalvillo6702 What was Valens real name?
Wonderful performance! She was the Linda Ronstadt of her day. Both amazing vocalists of Mexican descent.
Actually I think she was a better vocalist than Linda.
linda ronstadt is not in the same league as vicki. you must be joking, not even in the same universe. ms carr is an apex performer in the same class as ella fitzgerald and roberta flack. ronstadt, back up vocals in that universe - maybe.
@@coppering - Carr had 3 Top 40 hits.
Sounds of her voice was the same in Spanish.
hes just kidding!@@coppering

It's all gone now.
I miss the old France too....Nothing compared to nowadays 🥴!
@@belo1971 Wow really whats going on there that has changed?
Vicky as born Florencia Vicenta de Casillas-Martínez Cardona in El Paso, Texas to mexican parents. Classy lady who also sings un Spanish and very popular in LATAM
A pure beauty in all respects!
What happened to this once great society and nation? I so miss it!
Una de las voces más preciosas de la música. Puedo decir que está a la altura de Shirley Bassey, de también bella voz, intérprete de varios temas del legendario 007.
To me ...she is the most wonderfull singer that I've ever heard. No one has a voice color so expressive as she is. I love her ....She is my súper Star
Thankyou you knowledgeable .i😊
Vikki being terrific!

Most beautiful and incredibly talented Vicki Carr. What a doll.
Maravillosa cantante, que voz tan potente y melodiosa a la vez...una de las mejores versiones de esta estupenda cancion
Loooove it!!!! Good memories!!!
So long ago.....!!!!
She was so beautiful and sang so well. She exhibited such class and grace. All now gone.
How true given the current wannabe generation.
Carr is still alive and well at age 83.
Glad to hear.@@siobob1
Take me back to 58,when the chrome was thick and the ladies were straight, anything after the 80's seemed to go downhill.Vikki Carr, what a talent and role model for our girls ,not the fools like today, sing on Vikki, sing on❤
She was so beautiful and so talented !!!!!❤❤
Still is!!!!
:)
I could listen to her all day.
Memories of my parents cocktail parties, circa 1967
Me acordé de mi madre, era su artista favorita y también a me gusta como cantaba, inolvidable bella voz y mujer.❤❤❤❤❤
Quality of music there was in the USA in its past, the same can be said of the high quality of life there was; today, you see high technology, but nothing can be compared to what the USA used to be in its glorious past.
What a nice voice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Inolvidable Vikky Carr, ya descansa en la paz del infinito, con su voz angelical!!!
Saw her in concert at the Greek theatre in LA back in the mid 70’s. Such a great memory
W O W !
❤when the Artists usted to provide the BEAUTIFUL ARTS whole full experience 👍🏻💯‼️
This is a beautiful song, and she sings it wonderfully. I wonder sometimes why the American performing tradition doesn’t have more duets. Opera has many duets.
I remember her dearly! A long time ago
I love her.Vicky in my dreams.
She's got it all.
Donde hay más como ella?❤ Gracias
Eu tenho 57, conheci esta música por uma regravação no início dos anos 80, mais ritmada pra dança. Mas está aí é um verdadeiro espetáculo. Parabéns.
She is great isn't she .......??? So much I love this song
The most beautiful female singer in USA
This was the very first Vikki Carr song I ever heard. It was on the It Must Be Him album. Right after that I got my first Vikki Carr record, Live at the Persian Room - For Once In My Life. I've been hers ever since. I was there when she went to Columbia records, then after a few years of not recording, she signed with Sony Mexico. She's still performing and I hope I can see her at least a couple more times.
linda musica y una Artista maravillosa siempre Viky sera una de las mejores de la historia...
Wonderful performance! I saw her in Vegas in april 1968. Cesar Palace
¡Eso sí es cantar! ¡Qué privilegio escucharla!
VIKKI CAR; CANTORA LINDÍSSIMA...
Love this. I needed the uplift Thank you
Grande Vikki Carr!!❤ Una voz privilegiada!! Y esta afamada canción la intepreta de maravilla!! Bravo!! Siempre tan elegante!!
Beautiful woman and beautiful song.
President Gerald Ford once said "Vikki Carr is my favorite Mexican dish"..he had excellent taste!!
Im young but i enjoy her voice so much 😮❤
This song always reminds me of the deer hunter movie and American loss in the Vietnam war,
Impresionante voz 😊😊
One of the most powerfull female voices of the era indeed!
Thanks. Give it more.
