    This is how my brother in law taught me how to operate. Gave me a 943 cat and set ne out in a field and said dig a hole to fit the machine i could drive in and walk from the ground to the cab roof to ground on the other side. The I had to fill the hole back in without extra dirt and it had to be packed down as well . I was 11 back then . Good training

    It's good to see a private operator having a play with the big toys which we don't usually see in the mining videos. And Phil has the experience to get the best work out of the machine by loading the blade just right for a big push.
    The full load at 12:21 has the Big Girl pumping big iron but at no stage does she ever sound under strain. A beautiful sound.

    Well done boys, reminds me of a giant dragline in America. It was used to rip the overburden off the top of the coal seam and ran off electricity from the nearby powerstation, when her job was done they buried her in her own hole. There was a crew onboard to run it and another crew to move the extension cable.
    Tiny still has a job and the grandkids will have fun riding through there till it fills up with water.

    Me and my son sat here watching this whole video... We both really enjoyed seeing this... Thank you. We had already looked up the spec's of this series of high-drive dozer, and when we say "Thank you", we realized, how expensive that was to dig that simple hole, as per, diesel cost for one hour of running the machine, the wear and tear on the machine in all aspects of track wear, cutting edge wear, motor and drive line wear, etc... this was all in all, about $5000 dollar hole, when we calculated the approx cost and end game, insurance cost to own the unit, getting the machine to that spot, even if you own the land the hole was dug on, etc.etc.etc.... We really appreciated watching this...
    Normally, you just see a dozer pushing material around with of course, purpose and design, but to just dig a deep hole with a dozer, I do not think I have ever seen that in my life, let alone, on video... You guys, might be the first to have filmed a D-11 just digging a biga$$ hole, just to be digging a big a$$ hole...
    So, Thank you.. that was really cool to watch.

    • @thejacksonbrothers
      @thejacksonbrothers  9 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks! If these machines were new that might be the case but our estimated cost to dig a hole for 50 minutes is probably around $300 ( $150 fuel and $150 wear and tear)

    • @drubradley8821
      @drubradley8821 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@thejacksonbrothers I will screen shot this and send this to my son at school, that will give him something to chat about at school, and I tell him if the teacher has issues with it... "He is discussing general economics with his classmates"... Lol.. thank you for the factual info or correction. We were just assuming the costs which was fun to do, as it took us about 30 minutes to look up costs of everything and then keep dividing until we got down to one hour worth.. that was fun, even if we were way off.. either way, we had a fun time.

    I dig huge machines! I was born in S. Idaho and raised on a large ranch/farm of around 4000 acres. A little smaller than your 6178 acres. The largest machinery we had were a couple of Steiger “Big Green Machine” tractors. Plenty of CASE, International and Massey Ferguson’s. Had New Holland narrow beds, Freeman 3-wire balers, MACK, International, Peterbilt and Kenworth’s for hauling our potatoes, seed alfalfa, grain and hat bales around. I was sitting on the seat of smaller tractors at the age of 10 and 11 working my ass off. We never had huge dozers or road graders. If our Steigers couldn’t do something, then we had a guy come and do it. Haven’t seen many of your videos yet, so I am wondering if you guys are contractors as well for heavy equipment? 🤔
